Une perfection ! Rien de gymnique ici ainsi que l’on peut en faire reproche à certains ballets occidentaux. Que de l’artistique, de la subtilité et de la finesse. On en oublierait combien cet art est difficile tant la joie est présente et offerte au public.
I have been at the Bolshoi about 4 weeks ago, at the last performance of Coppelia (at least in this season). Same scenery and choreography like in this video. Simply wonderful! And by far not as expensive as I had expected, 70€ for very good seats at the very best ballet theatre in the world is a fair price.
This piece both musically and choregraphically is addictive. Of the versions available on You Tube this appears to be the newest of it's class and arguably the best. They all have an interesting interpretation of this delightful dance.
Never been interested in ballet with it's extravagant gymnastics and contortions, often, to me, out of place in the narrative. I came looking to hear what a Mazurka sounds like and had a lovely surprise. This was delightful. With music like that, what else could you do but dance? And the dancing, though completely beyond my capabilities looked like what I would want to do if I could. Beautiful costumes and scenery, everyone enjoying themselves, tuneful, vivacious music and dancing, real dancing - I may have to look again at ballets.

Oh! Wow! Wonderful, wonderful. There are no words to fully express what the Bolshoi project onto the stage. Whether it be Coppelia,Swan Lake,or,any of many ballets, they are, without doubt the best.
I am an Indian . I was here because the history of Poland ( It's rebellion against Russian language ) is in my syllabus and how art and culture became part of the movement . But I have to say this dance form is the most beautiful one I 've ever seen . Go Poland !!!
In 1700s, which earlier had its own empire, was invaded by 3 other empires-' Russia. Prussian, + Austrian, regained unity + independence after WW I, but lost some land, at least to Ukraine.
This a Russian routine and orchestral interpretation. This is simply the best version in the world and is unmatched by any other interpretation so far.
The first ballet I watched at the National theatre.. Didn't even know what ballet it was as I was too young then.. But I went home with this mazurka music playing in my head. Only realised it was Coppelia many years later. :D
Bello todo el esplendor de los bailarines rusos , que con sus gracias bailan una Mazurca , con esa alegría típica de los pueblos de regiones campesinas , con sus atuendos coloridos un belleza verlos interpretar esta música autóctona
Oh my god I had this EXACT ballet on k7 when I was a child. I remember watching it over and over again... Gosh just to hear the first note makes me feel nostalgic as f..
Same with me. I danced this mazurka at the age of 8 when I took ballet lessons. It brings a tear to my eye whenever I listen and see any of the representations of Coppélia.
Most of my life I did not know this beautiful piece. Being a cosmopolite commoner and eclectic, need is to say that Delibes did a great work, and also did it the famed Bolshoi Ballet. Bravo.
Actually Delibes plagiarised the mazurka from Moniuszko, a Polish 19th century composer. While Moniuszko's opera wasn't allowed to be staged (the Russians had censored it) it was published, and Delibes found the notes and later said that he thought it was a folk tune.
@@jankowalski-lg6bs As I have had some instruction from a Polish folk dance instructor years ago, I recognise the basic step used in this choreography is NOT correct, one aspect being they have "scissor" feet, not the gliding step, and they are using the skate step as a basic step, but some of the other steps are authentically Polish. Sorry, but I can't remember the Polish /French names of the steps (the Bird is one of them) Perhaps they have made it more balletic, Rusified or maybe it is more Hungarian? It is nice to watch, but it upsets me if people think that is the basic Polish Mazur.
I remember when I had to perform this piece I would always play this video on max volume until eventually after the performance my mom literally said "so, do we have to listen to this again any time soon?" And just to be annoying j said that yeah because this is one of my favorite music pieces that I ever heard, lol sorry ma
One can talk about costumes, talk whether it is mazurka or mazur one thing is clear: in comparison with the Bolshoi dance all other performances look like amature ones. So, watch and enjoy
Yup, Yuri, you´re damn right. The only thing that I´d point out is the cadence (too fast in my understanding) of the mazurka. It has nothing to do with the expertise of the dancers, but I guess it would give them more grace, that´s undoubtful.
And that is the point. Art needs not be completely authentic at the expense of its value to entertain and awe us. So what if the set designer got a word or name to have elements of writing inconsistent with Polish, using a Greek-Cyrillic gamma for a G and a Czech hacek over the z, neither of which would appear in either Polish or German. And if it is a French composer who created the music of the mazurka --it is spirited music befitting the ballet. Must one be Austrian to write a waltz?
You see, Marco, the music of the dance is probably too fast for mazurka so dancers I think do not have an opportunity to be more graceful. But these are the laws of the genre
