  • Grandpa finds weird string in attic wall, then pulls it to reveal family secret. This man returns to his old home to reveal a family secret.
One man has returned “home” to search for family possessions that his father once hid away right before they were forced to evacuate the country. His father had taught him a special way of finding the hidden objects, but it wasn’t easy to retrieve them. Seven decades after he last saw them, it was hard to tell whether the items had survived through years of wear and tear.
    Thank you for watching!
Thank you to CO.AG for the background music!

His mans family built the house and was ran out due to war. Not only is that HIS home but those are HIS possessions.
    Intriguing story but also sad.

We have no idea about the details. It's possible he was allowed to take something meaningful out of those items. Having been allowed to go and see if they were still there undiscovered was probably quite rewarding. I'm glad ge got to see them. Of course I think he should have been allowed to keep it all or donate it to a museum 😍

Marla Mitchell in Slovakia and Czech Republic is law for it. If you find something very valuable you have to or pay tax or let it for museum and you can not keep it even if it was on your own backyard and you digged it out. Weird but true.

    • @EQKaiena
      @EQKaiena 6 лет назад +1

The problem I have with that is this, he didn't FIND something valuable, they were his own possessions. It's not like he just stumbled onto anything he didn't know was there, or that it was some lost treasure. They were in the house his father built and he was trying to RETRIEVE his belongings from the precise location of the property his family was forced to leave behind decades ago. That's almost like saying that anything a family finds after the death of a relative, that has been packed away in the attic as to preserve it for their future generations, should be taxed or handed over to the government/museum just because it hadn't been seen or touched for decades.

My parents, and family, all French but born in Tunisia, were thrown out of their homes in Tunisia in the late 1950s when Arabs were given their independence from France, at gun point, put on a boat and expropriated to France...
Everything was taken from them. They left with very few possessions...
At least they were alive though, unlike others, including my parents' neighbours who were shot.
Still, it is very difficult to lose everything.

My good friends father passed away, so they needed to sell the house he lived in for 50 years, it needed to have the electric brought up to code, I'm an electrician so I did the work, I was in a crawlspace in the attic inspecting the electric, I lifted up some insulation, and found a wooden box with a padlock, so I kept looking and found WWI military guns, a WWII Japanese rifle, a couple of 150 year old pistols, and various other guns, the box was full of ammunition.
Even though I couldn't keep it, it was pretty exciting finding it, I called my friend to tell her what I found, she already knew, they were there, her brother hid them there, as it turned out none of the family wanted the guns, so they let me have them, they are worth thousands of dollars, so I tried to take money off the bill, but she wouldn't have it, I'm going to leave the guns to my friends kids, the great-grandchildren of the original owner.

No they don't. I volunteer at a children's museum that has many different items in it's collection. Some as plain as a japanese WW2 gas mask. My Grandparents were Czech..that's how they came to America. They lost everything they had ever worked for. When my Grandmother passed away, She owned 3 items of significant value and that is all she had. There was a huge family war over who would get these items despite them having been left to me, I was only 13 at the time. To end the fight my aunt suggested that they bury the items with my Grandmother. Eventually, everyone agreed. When I became an adult, I left home and travelled 1400 miles to see my aunt that I hadn't seen since my Grandmothers passing. We were having so much fun getting caught up and then she told me she had something very special she had been saving for me for a long time. She then gave me the items that everyone thought were buried with my Grandmother. After the funeral, my Aunt had made arrangements with the funeral director to remove the items from the casket and give them to her. I've never taken the items off and never will.

My grandmother's father hid a bunch of money, (over $10,000 back then, about $188,186 now) in weird places and only told my grandmother, not any of her siblings or his wife. He always told his wife to not throw away certain objects, such as an egg carton that was plastered to the ceiling , as there was over $1,000 in it. But when he died, his wife threw away all of his stuff while my grandmother was at school one day, and when she got back home all the money was gone.

3:00 why is that female sitting like that? That can't be comfortable. Great video. I find it unfair the man can't have his family heirlooms.

He was a child. He was not a Nazi. He had no input in the choices the adults made. He should have been allowed to keep something. Why punish an elder man who had nothing to do with what happened in World War 2.
So much unkindness. Not every German was Nazi.

They could have allowed him to keep a few of the items; I’d imagine that the memories must have come flooding back when he found them, probably some that he’d forgotten about & it seems somewhat unfair that its all going to be taken away from him. Another Great story albeit a bit sad in ways. 🤗

It is amazing he was able to find these things. Seems most of the comments section disagrees with him not keeping anything, goes to show how out of touch the politics are with what the people actually want.

i think its wrong that he can't keep any of it. it all really belongs to him. that's very petty! shame on the government for their purposes.

It's nice that museums want the collection but why.? It seems the man should be able to keep his mementos and choose which ones to give up.. Don't display personal items of living people.. I think the government is over-reaching..
