I´m far away of being a professional, but I also love my ThinkTank Bags (Retro 30 and 7). That stuff is obviously created from photographers for photographers. Awesome video, Adam!
Honestly that bag isn't as big as most people may think. When I was a video DSLR guy and had to go on set, I had audio gear, the camera gear, monitors, etc. I had to carry it in those big tubs that are used for storage. Now I'm thankful to mostly be into just photography!
pelican case 1650 with a trekpak insert has this beat. more sturdy. 100% customizable plus the pelican case is darn near bomb proof and 100 % water proof. I will never go back to soft cases a with flimsy dividers
the pelican case is great but also 11 inches shorter than the think tank bag so it may have the smaller think tank logistics manager 30 beat on size and sturdiness but if looked after properly the think tank bags last great for years too but at the size of this bag pelican don't even compete so until they do this bag for this size is great and think tank make an even bigger one which is just over 2 ft longer than the pelican case. I have used both brands over the years and they are both great.
Can't beat a Pelican for rugged durability and weatherproofing. For day-to-day use, they can be a bit heavy once you load them up. The ThinkTank stuff is surprisingly durable and much lighter weight for a soft-case.
Little late here but my Ronin has a Peli Case and is a pain in the ass to cary around. I love the built quality of the case but sometimes I wish it was lighter
+Adam Lerner ... You should put some lighting in front, so we could see some detail in these bags. It's side lit from the large window, which blows that side out, making it even worse. (Shouldn't you know that?) Also, we didn't get to see much of the contents, maybe change the camera angle to above the case? Also, it would've been nice to see it zippered closed, and put in position to roll (like it would be used!). What would this case cost, (for us regular people?) ... Anyhow, thanks for sharing!
+Adam Lerner You're right, they have a great Vimeo video there, and it sows the case quite well. Each one has it's own serial number too, and it's list price is only $549 Thanks Adam!
Wow... what a bag. Still, I could never check my camera or lenses. (I'll check support, flashes, lots of things, but my bodies and glass are always part of my carry-on stuff.)
Have you traveled much with this bag? I travel about a dozen times in a year for work. Currently own the Video Manager 44, which has some added zipper protection which is nice. However I'm looking for something slightly smaller like this with more organization. Just worried it might not hold up as well being checked? Any insight would be great. Love the video!
I traveled with it a bunch pre-covid and it held up really well being checked. No issues, but I mostly rent when I'm traveling so apart from a handful of flights, I mostly use it for regional shoots. Thanks!
@@AdamLernerPhoto Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'll definitely consider that! Renting would be a great option for some gigs, however I mainly shoot weddings. I feel like it would be easier just to pack a couple sticks. Def some things to consider. Might give this one a shot, it seems perfect in every other way. Thanks again.
superb video and item by thinktank :) what you think for a less hardware situation as i got two light stands , an umbrella , a soft box, 4 clamps , 4 lenses , cables , cleaning kit canon body and 2 speed lights flashes ? more over don't you think this stable bag has week wheels ?
I fit 1 Manfrotto tripod, 3 small stands, 4 Elinchrom lights, cables, modifiers in 1 luggage bag made in the Philippines. The brand is Voyager. Last for years and it costs less than $100. It weighs about 25 kilos and can fit the back of an SUV with room for other things you might need.
I got a couple of Think Tank bags, would love to have that bag but you cannot take it on board on a plane. I wouldn't trust putting $30,000 worth of equipment as checked baggage. I use for my lighting a couple of Pelican cases which are pretty good and indestructible.
@$549.99 is pretty steep of a price. I have some Think Tank bags and I like them but, I have to carry several bags to carry all my gear. However, the price on these, is prohibitive. Then, if I put all my gear in there, I'll need help just to get in the car. Forget about the trunk, it doesn't fit, probably on a large SUV may do the trick.
+Guillermo Arce This fits it most trunks. I've put it in a lot of different cars, from compacts to SUVs. It's big, but not too big especially considering that you can get all your lights in there.
How rigid are the dividers? e.g., it will holt a lot of equipment which also means a lot of weight. What is stopping components on the bottom from being crushed?
@@AdamLernerPhoto You've checked it below and it has survived? Would love to know how many flights (domestic and international) that you've put it through! Thanks! Seriously considering this bag.
I just became a Think Tank customer moved up from a Tamarac 612. I now use the Navigator and the Speed Racer. So far they are just the thing I just wish that in the Navigator the Laptop compartment was a tad more robust.. My old bag is still good. but I have more gear than when I started so I had to move up. That is a huge roller!!... if you are not going on a plane I think that would be ideal. You can work out of it on location. The idea of that bag and everything inside being out of my sight would me make nervous. I guess that is what insurance is for. Thanks for the review.
Hi Adam, I'm a very big Think Tank fan also. I noticed at the beginning of your video that "Production" is spelled "Producion". Other than that, great job. I also enjoyed your video on Product Photography Home Studio. Thanks for the tips.
Most of these large bags would need to be checked when flying and that is too scary to contemplate! I never bring a bag on a plane that's too large to place under the seat in front of me or in the overhead compartment. Even then, unless you can afford first class, you are taking a chance that you will not have overhead space since today's flights are always full, many of the short hauls are on smaller planes and if you happen to get on at the end, you may not have any space left and will have to give the bag to a flight attendant and it will be placed with checked luggage. That's something you want to avoid unless you have a hard, secure and locked case, of which none of these are. I think these cases look great and would use them when transporting my equipment in my vehicle only.
I have to wonder how well the TSA agents will treat your stuff when they inspect it after you check the bag at the airline counter, especially if the whole thing is locked up with the cable lock. Hopefully they have half a brain to treat expensive-looking professional equipment with care.
Hi 00Skyfox, The lock is TSA approved. How the bag is treated after you check it is mostly a risk accepted by working professional photographers - they have to travel with the gear.
Good stuff, but at €600!.. And if you live in a place like Amsterdam with its hideously narrow, insufferably steep staircases and no elevator (and apartments the size of a lavatory), you'll need a hydraulic lift to move it up or down for a shoot. (I hate Amsterdam houses with an uncanny passion).
I really hate this kind of review videos with....sponsored products. Did they asked you man to look excited or you thought of that yourself. I don't care if your are famous, if your are the best, I don't know you actually.
I don't need a review of everything you have in your bag. I just want to know about the bag. I have no clue about half of what stuff you have in your bag.
That bag is insane. Perfect for lighting equipment.

What voyager bag is this?
Thank you for these videos; they are very helpful!
Are the backpack straps comfortable? ☺️
On the street walker hard drive the straps are great. Super comfortable even loaded up.
@@AdamLernerPhoto But what about the straps on the production manager? Are they comfortable after several hours?
Never tried them and probably ever will!

Pretty rigid. They do bend, but when packed with a bit of thought, there's not much chance of you crushing the bag.

so glad I came across this video! exactly what I need.

Heck you need another thinktank to keep all those unused dividers lol..
Prasad Indi *Next month thinktank releases new divider bag, only 49.99!*
15min long ad, lol
Enjoyed it.
I don't get paid by ThinkTank, thanks.
I wonder if this bag is airport supported? does it consider as oversized bag by airport? Thanks.
+Kenny Van Definitely not a carry-on!
But can you be able to check in with this bag and don't have to pay as an oversized one? Thanks
I haven't flown with it so I couldn't say.
Hi Adam, amazing review - I just hope you might know, will this bag take 4 Elinchrom ELC Pro HD lights? They are known to be long in size. Thanks.
+Poet Productions I wouldnt know, but check the specs. The bag's pretty deep.
Which Light Stands do you use? looking for some good quality light stands that fit into the ThinkTank Production Manager 40.
Thanks
+Ben Appleton You can get nano stands and perhaps some smaller compact stands into the 40.
Will it fit a C stand?
No, but the Production Manger 50 can fit a c-stand.
Adam Lerner awesome thank you!!
I don't see how this and the Logistics Mgr can be checked in luggage. It's not hard enough on the sides and none on the top. Right?
Where you keep your camera in that suitcase? @ adamlerner
+Gerardohcw I don't use this for cameras. Just for lights, or grip.
+Adam Lerner ok

A ton of gear? Which airline allows you to carry on more than 7kgs? Give them a plug!

A PELI CASE is better.
And much heavier.
It depends. This one has better wheels. It's lighter. It's really better suited for the task at hand.
The wheels are carring the weight.
My bad. I missed that "Unboxing" has an extra "x" in it as well. (Unboxxing) ... I guess those 3 years in 6th grade were a waste... (mine, not yours!)
Reminds me of playing Resident Evil 4. Except it is somehow invisible.

Ha, maybe not ideal for Amsterdam. I'd love to visit someday!
hey send me a couple of those "extra" dividers xD
The wheels are way toooo small.A complete nightmare in practice.
I use this bag and the wheels work well for me.
You left out one thing . Toothbrush .. that bag lol you tow it with a small car
