I used to be in a business that required custom tailored or highest quality clothing. My cleaners lost my order. They asked the value of my loss and didn't bat an eye when I told them.They refunded the cost of new clothing.
I can't believe the Judge actually said that at the end! The plaintiff had every right to deny taking the store credit and preferring the cash for whatever reason he may have. But to tell him that he can't go to that cleaners anymore, or that she wouldn't let him use their services, if it were her store... That's ridiculous, especially when the owner's business was found to be in the wrong. So essentially, she's saying because he sued that company for their wrongdoings, going about it the civil and legal way, he shouldn't be allowed back there and they shouldn't service him. I would expect more from a Judge, or anyone that has a career in the legal system really. She's basically encouraging defendants to retaliate, and punish the person they wronged, for doing exactly what they're suppose to do and is literally their right to do so.
He shouldn't want to go back there! The owner is sketchy ASF. I would find a new cleaner! It's hard to find some that actually clean! They send it out to be cleaned the statement "it's not back yet" was a red flag. I hate cleaners that outsource

Two, they made me sue them to make it right and three, I wouldn't trust them with my personal belongings after suing them, in fear of retaliation. Our Court system, particularly small claims , are to settle disputes civilly and fairly, and according to the law. I work for a family owned dry cleaner. They've been in business for 75 years. Item can be piggy backed. Sometimes the hangers with entangle. It happens. It's human error. That's why we check tagged clothing, count hangers, customer name and invoice number.
The plaintiff should have gotten $500. He went out of his way to go to the Going Out Of Business Sale for that 80% off. He cannot replace those items for $200. They would cost much more. At least $500
I wash EVERYTHING, that goes on my body period. First, you don't know the conditions where the material was stored or where the garments are made. Then clothes are hanging in stores where bugs & rodents roam freely. Not to mention, not knowing how many random people tried on said clothes.

Also, most people would sit and watch us tag their shirts and put them in the bin, which was fine with me. You really have to pay attention when your tagging and putting the clothes together. Someone made a mistake and another customer got his clothes. They shouldve reimbursed him instead lf trying to set it up in the customer like he was lying.

I was fuming but didn’t go full tilt Karen on him but responded “Steve, those pants are a 46” waist, 30” inseam and J (my husband) is a 32”, 34” inseam, has always been slim, we’ve been coming here for 3 years”. He refused to accept ANY responsibility and no compensation whatsoever. Yelp didn’t exist yet. He was such a jwrk it was no surprise the business was gone within months after that…ugh…shady business owners😵💫

She didn’t mean that she would keep the other customer’s clothes forever. She just wasn’t going to be inconvenienced by the cleaner’s mistake. She was probably willing to bring back the other person’s order the next time that she needed to bring her things to the cleaners, but that wasn’t soon enough for the other customer (and I don’t blame the other customer for not wanting to wait that long either). It is the responsibility of the business to make things right.
I've heard of having to prewash things like new under garments and t-shirts cause of the chemicals in the dye's,but dry cleaning is chemical and they don't even steam clean anything,so I have no clue why he or anyone would take brand new clothes to the dry cleaners 🤔
Actually if you go watch a video about dry cleaning the clothes totally get soaked. It’s the same as a front loader washer just more gentle and it’s a hydrocarbon liquid instead of water.

And why on earth would the judge not take back the clothing she had been wrongfully given, she still has to go back to pick up her own stuff anyway. Sounds like she is a really nasty person in real life too, not just on the show...
He should have got the full $260, however in regards to her not being willing to drop off the cloths, it was the cleaner's mistake and they should have offered to come pick up and drop off the right stuff. When you make the mistake, it's on you to fix it.
My bf has to wash his new clothes only because he is allergic to whatever they use at the factory. I on the other hand just throw them on. Well they end up in a pile and eventually get worn. Is it gross? Probably. Do I care? F no.
