Curved Ridge, Buachaille Etive Mòr - Scramble up and fly down.

- Buachaille Etive Mòr means 'the Great Herdsman of Etive', and the mountain stands like a guardian at the head of Glen Coe. My favourite route is Curved Ridge, a wonderful mountaineering line in both summer and winter.
In this episode of my Mountain Days Vlog I climb Curved Ridge at sunrise, getting to the summit in smooth air so that I can fly down on my lightweight paraglider.
Wing: Niviuk Kode P
Harness: Le Slip 2

WTF!!!! Balls of steel! I never listened properly and heard words such as "flying at the top" and I thought you were talking about launching you drone. And then I'm thinking, but he's already got the drone up, what's the concern and then WOW! FFS! LOL! I'm gobsmacked! I only just worked up the courage to do the CR last years but never in a million did I imagine people doing this! Great video! Defo the best way to get down!
Thanks very much, it’s a beautiful way to descend 😀
Certainly an adventure that is beyond mere mortals.
Deluded one's probably think ' i could do that'😅
Impressive sir👏
Oh man, Bloody absolutely fantastic film. Thank you for sharing, Wish I'd not wasted all them years in the pub😢. Enjoy Skye Rob.
Time in the pub is never wasted 😀
W.O.W!!!! What a video Rob!!! Stumbled across your channel, so glad I did.
Thank you 🙂
Beautifully made video 👍
Wonderful as ever, Rob 👍
Thanks Dan, hope all is well with you.
Absolutely stunning footage of a great route. Definitely the way to come down and definitely worth an early start. Look forward to the next one 👍
Thanks very much 😀👍
Stunning. You couldn't have picked a more perfect day for it. Been up CR many times and it's a superb route (the whole hill is incredible) but the wing looks like a fantastic addition. Subscribed.
Thanks very much 🙂
Amazing mate I do Munroe's,and your bottle is on a different level, 👍
That’s very kind, hope to see you in the hills 😀👍
Absolutely superb video, Rob. Your use of the drone to identify your location and the character of the route was brilliant - I have never seen anything like it before. I hope you have a good few weeks on Skye and I will look forward, hopefully, to seeing a few more of your videos from there. All the best, Ian.
Thanks Ian, I’m home from Skye now and we had a great couple of weeks. One of my favourite places in the world!
12:10 Soloed Curved Ridge myself back in the day with a total novice, Hayden Morgan. Being 19 years old we were a bit over optimistic, we followed the mountain top ridge down towards Glen Etive and then climbed back up Bidean Nam Bian and descended Ant Srion back home to the Glencoe Outdoor Centre (BIG ROUTE PLAN!!!).
Thanks 🙏👍 for your exquisite film, brought it all back.
@@AndyPeter72 Great stuff 🙂
Wow! Superb. What a gorgeous morning you had for that adventure, Rob!
It was stunning wasn't it!
Stunning video as always, Rob.😎👏👏
Must feel amazing coming off a mountain like that.Drone shots were superb on Curved Ridge with commentary as well.Always great to see different videos of routes I have done myself.😎👍
Thanks very much Andy 😀👍
Love it. Definitely the way to save your knees 👍🏻
100 % 🙂
Love the footage, awesome.
Thanks very much 🙂
This is incredible, what a feeling it must be to do a great climb like this, then jump off and fly back down!
It’s the best way to travel down hill 😀
Fab video of one of those days that stay with you :D
Yes it definitely will 😀👍

I’m almost lost for words. When you said “ and see if we can fly off the top “ or words to that effect I thought did I just hear that right ? Fly off the top ? And yes I heard right. Absolutely incredible. Stunning photography and just all around amazing.
What a beautiful view over Rannoch Moor. The flight down blew me away.
That’s very kind, thanks very much 😀👍
love that... ❤
Brilliant video , That would be awesome flying down
It’s a heck of a way to travel 😀
Hi Rob... I like your videos Rob, your climbing skills are indeed unquestionable, as well as making videos that are very professional, like watching a movie, I like your channel..., nice to meet you, I am Rudy from Indonesia.....
Awesome 🤩
That’s was outstanding footage. Really well crafted. Simply the best footage on here. Looking forward to what you produce in Skye. D&L 😊
That's very kind, thank you. I managed a couple of short flights on Skye and had an amazing couple of weeks work but no videos this time - sorry :-(
Awesome!! Well done. Subscribed!!
Thanks very much 🙂
How does it compare to some of the G2s on Tryfan or Glyder Fach in Snowdonia? It does look like a wonderful scramble in the most majestic of settings!
Thanks for sharing this footage, I really enjoyed it.
The grades compare well, it’s somewhere between a two and a three. It’s a beautiful ridge.
Wow!! Amazing video. Thanks for sharing. sub & 👍87
Thanks very much :-)
I have just realised that I can revisit the 80s
Jim and Mario I have shared 😂
Another great video Rob. How does your Kode P compare to your single skin in terms of pack size and weight?
It weighs about 300g more and the pack size is very similar. For me it is well worth that little bit of extra weight for the extra performance that it gives me - mainly in terms of wind penetration.
@@RobJohnson Thats exactly what I was hoping you'd say. Just need to save some pennies now befoe I get one
What size kode p are you on/ what's your AUW?
I’m on a size 18 with an all up weight of 78kg
Another coker Rob!
Cheers buddy, long time no see, hope you’re good. 😀
@@RobJohnson Oh yes! All is good thank you got a little family now (two boys) the eldest is getting into his camping which is awesome! Hope your good too!
That’s lovely, happy days. Yes all good here, my boys are big boys now but still like a bit of camping 😀
I’ve got to know the song you used at the peak of this climb ! It’s beautiful. Do you know the band ? Thanks for the inspiration.
It's lovely isn't it. It's the instrumental version of "Shadow over the Green Village" by Dr Paranoid. I got it on Artlist.io which is a music licensing platform for film makers.
