Just bought Ma the CS800-s one way for Her 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan and bought the ignition bypass(data link) module with it. I'm just a 32 year heavy truck mechanic but have installed dozens of "Bulldog" starter systems in both gas and diesel vehicles. As a few have suggested, do some research. I choose the CS800 and the security bi pass module because it did not need (exterior-on line) programming. Granted, when it arrived it looked a bit intimidating compared to other systems I have installed but once I figured out what "With data link" or "without" meant (Confusing instructions). It just became a basic install. Unlike some Nissan and Toyota's, Dodge does not require the CS800 "door lock/unlock" feature to be installed making it even easier because the factory remote will still unlock the doors after start up unlike some of the latter. I like it. I would recommend this system "BUT" if Your not really familiar with electrical install and not confident, this is not the system for DIY.
I have this exact Alarm system with pager. I had tech leave out the siren and car horn activates. Pager has 1,500 feet range. I recommend it. Compustar is good.
On avg, 150-300 labour. I've done over $1,000 labour alone easy, but that's with all the bells and whistles (i.e. Smart Start/ Drone, Proximity sensor, window roll up/ down and the list goes on). It all depends on what you want done.
You should bring it to a reputable install shop in your area. They might have to reprogram the remotes or check all the ignition lines to make sure the unit is getting power. Did your battery die in your vehicle and did you get a jump or replace the battery of the car?
Have one of these systems on my civic. They are loud AF & can be annoying if you work on them in your garage. If they go off by accident in a garage you're going to be hearing aids! Now, they'll def deter a crimainl breaking in cause you can easily hear the sound from a block & half away in the dead of night.
They should be able to install it like this. The video was taken a while ago and my install technique has changed a little since then. I would ask to see some pictures of their work.
Yes you will. Also the install shop will need to find out if you have an 80 bit or 40 bit key, with the new firmware it shouldn't matter though. They'll also need to bypass the clutch switch only during the remote start sequence (usually done with a relay). So when you use the key to start you push the clutch in still, but when you remote start the vehicle it won't need to be depressed.

+TheCanadianBubba Usually there are plugs to the unit, but the other end of the wires need to be spliced into the vehicle some how. Typically soldered. Why not just buy new remotes from an install shop and try to get it working, you said the install looks nice, might was well use it.
My only issue with all of these videos with the disclaimer as to you should have a professional install these is this... I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser...I was pricing out remote starters all over town. I went to the following places. 3 Canadian Tires, 2 JB Power Centres, Aero Auto Parts and 3 Toyota dealerships. All of which priced out the remote start with installation including the bypass. Just as I was about to choose the best priced unit with install, I asked what is the bypass for? I was told by each of these businesses that perform professional installations that I needed the bypass for my transponder key. I then asked, in order to save money could I just buy the equipment and install it myself. The Canadian Tires and Toyota said no, that they must do it. JB said that the units would need to be programed and they would not do it unless they installed it. The price ranged from $270 to $650. Through my online FJ group I found out that my FJ should not have transponder keys. I then called a brand new Toyota dealership that was glad to give me all the information in regards to my FJ based on the vin number. Without any doubt my FJ has just regular keys...no chips ...no transponders. I was being asked to pay anywhere from $85 to $125 more the by-pass. I called the Canadian Tires, 1 Toyota dealership, and Aero back to get a new quote and they all insisted that my car needed the bypass and would not change their quote. So.. as a result..I bought my own Compustar kit and will install it myself along with a programming unit for $150 and will install it myself. The alarming thing is this...how many people that did not do the research and found out if their car needed actually this equipment were ripped off. These companies install hundreds if not thousands of the units and they do not "know" if your car needs this equipment or not?!? This has got to be the biggest scam running. If you are planning on getting one of these installed by a professional, do your own research for your own vehicle first! Because I doubt that not one of these professionals would have said sorry we made a mistake and we are going to lower your quote...or give you a refund.
POPPASHANGO To answer your statement, we do work on a lot of vehicles (I work at Visions Electronics) and most vehicles of your year do have transponder keys. If you look at Idatalink's website, your vehicle is listed so I can see why you were quoted out you need one. I've done installs on FJ's and realized it didn't need it so I just refunded the customer back their money. Some times you won't know if it's a chipped key until you take the vehicle apart. Now I recommend you get a professional shop to do it because they'll probably do a better job (ask to see pictures of previous work) and they provide life time warranty on the workmanship and offer product support. So I wouldn't just go around calling it a scam when most databases say your vehicle has it. Because most vehicle post 2001 in Canada do have transponder keys. The questions I have for you is now if you're doing it yourself, 1)Does it work? 2)How long did it take you? 3)Does it do everything you want it to? 4) And how does the install look?
Maybe going to a shop that specializes in installing these units might give you better service than tire dealers, auto parts stores and new car dealerships. Just a thought.....
Oh no... I would still avoid putting your antenna on the dot matrix since it's metallic. I mean, it's probably not enough interference to make to too much of a difference, but why risk it?
+GTpinstripes Been putting it on there for the past 9 years and no issues. I have never accurately measured maximim difference after, but no one has ever complained due to range. And we do our share of remote starters and security in Canada.
Yeah, like I said, it's probably not enough interference to matter.... but either way, I enjoyed the vid. People really need to stop doing it themselves, and bring them to installers like us.
+GTpinstripes Yep, the instructions do also show the antenna being placed on the left, upper (drivers side) portion of the windshield away from the matrix. I'm going with the factory recommendations if for nothing more, the warranty.
I have a 2001 mustang with major electronic issues all data link. Errors I’m leaning towards the alarm that’s causing it what u think? Can the alarm mess with module communion after my car died it happened during winter
Bad place for your hood pin, you never put pinswitches in the rain channels, because water runs there, rust the pinswitches and causes problems, falsing down the line
You can hide the siren more if you pay more money. This is realistically where it goes for what people are willing to pay. Are your connections going to be as reliable and wired as clean compared to someone that does this for 8-10 hours every day?
@@Oscar-lo4fh It should be no issue to bring the vehicle back and have it warrantied. There's no immobilizer from factory in that truck and it's pretty basic wiring for a factory vehicle.
As a @professiona@l, you should know, that antenna should not be installed in the matrix dots area, cause it deacreses the signal. so you are not, and this is why you are right-it should be installed by a professional)))))

+TheCanadianBubba -That'd be all plug and play ( or tapped }, yes ? so unhooking everything from the brain would essentially be just the factory setup ? or are some circuits interrupted by the system ?
Thanks in advance for your response : ]
+TheCanadianBubba Usually there are plugs to the unit, but the other end of the wires need to be spliced into the vehicle some how. Typically soldered. Why not just buy new remotes from an install shop and try to get it working, you said the install looks nice, might was well use it.
There is a Page where u can get software and everything! Iam at some vacation and if iam back I can check for you! I install those 24/7
Thanks!
You think I can install it into my 2003 mustang. I really like comustar and I don't wanna waist my time looking
Is the Mustang a manual and convertible?
@@AnthonyJ350 no
@@platinumtr33z80 Compustar will work perfectly fine with an Idatalink Blade AL.
@@AnthonyJ350 I have a 02 mustang convertible would this still work and what parts would I need to get
@@420stonerz4 Is it automatic or manual transmission?
When installing just a remote started do you think an average guy like me could get the job done and if not what's the risk ? lol nice video btw
Fullrusher I don't recommend it. It took me years of practice to make it clean and reliable. The risk is damaging a BCM or the factory immobilizer.
Just a thought.....
cool
Thanks for watching!
GTpinstripes I agree, I've seen a lot of shotty wiring jobs and then people wonder why their vehicle doesn't operate properly.
+GTpinstripes Yep, the instructions do also show the antenna being placed on the left, upper (drivers side) portion of the windshield away from the matrix. I'm going with the factory recommendations if for nothing more, the warranty.
no it does but I can hear a clicking noise under the dash board
@sniperscrubb Thanks for the tip!
What can it be
You'll have to bring it to your local install shop to diagnose the issue. Too many variables to figure it out through here.
I have a 2001 mustang with major electronic issues all data link. Errors I’m leaning towards the alarm that’s causing it what u think? Can the alarm mess with module communion after my car died it happened during winter
Possibly if installed incorrectly. Also a weak battery causes issues with low voltage situations.
Bad place for your hood pin, you never put pinswitches in the rain channels, because water runs there, rust the pinswitches and causes problems, falsing down the line
when i see where you put the siren. that why is never gonna be a ''profesionnal' that gonna do it
You can hide the siren more if you pay more money. This is realistically where it goes for what people are willing to pay. Are your connections going to be as reliable and wired as clean compared to someone that does this for 8-10 hours every day?
Mine won't remote start sounds like it wants to but nothing
Too many variables. Could be the immobilizer or an ignition wire.
@@AnthonyJ350 it's for a 91 d21 nissan hardbody, the guy put it to the injector but nothing sound slide it wants to I hear the pump but that's it
@@Oscar-lo4fh Ya not sure what's wrong with the install. Was it done at a professional shop?
@@AnthonyJ350 the guy been doing install for 30 years hr had his shop before but idk
Through experience it's negligible since people don't complain about range and I can easily get range from my truck a block away.
If you want even more range, put Drone Mobile in. What shop do you work for?
@SenorFusion12 Haha, thanks!
That looks way too complicated to do myself... I'd rather pay a pro like you to do it.
Thanks, come on down!
any one can program those blades just go to there site or any of idatalink
its simple.
Thank you, Ik it’s 8 years ago, but I hate people that lie and say only a professional can do it
How doesn't this video not get a billion dislikes? It sucks!
Thanks for the feedback!
thnks then the anly thing i have to do is just buy one
Please change the title of this video, you said at the beginning "this is NOT a how-to install video"... Wtf
I have an updated video here ruclips.net/video/ZUWINBzA1S0/видео.htmlsi=V6Oy4lsla7WJclLD
I changed the title, thank you for the feedback.
No it does not
no
So if a authorized dealer is required that means just don't buy Compustar!!!
It means you get it installed by an experienced technician. Just save $50 a week for a few months and you can afford it.
Lies! You need a computer and a $20 usb programmer... Anyone can do this if they have common sense
Ya I'm pretty sure you won't install it as nice or will it be as reliable unless you work in a shop. How many Volvos, and R33 GTRs have you remote started?
AnthonyJ350 what the hell does an R33 have to do with not needing one of you bigots to flash a Blade. Good luck ASSuming, you just lost a subscriber (;
bad video of installation

So im looking to install a Compustar CS7900-AS All-in-One 2-Way Remote Start and Alarm Bundle w/ 3000 feet Range and after extensive research found out i need a remote starter controller module. Does any controller work or does it have to be compustar, also when i buy the Max it or start it by compustar will it come with the blade Al included?? what would i need to fully install a remote start and alarm system (want it to be as plug and play as possible) and will i be able to add a push to start in the future any and all help its wellcome thanks. (will be doing it to a 2019 silverado 1500 LD)(Old body style)
You'll want some type of digital remote starter, as your vehicle is heavily computer controlled. It will have everything you need. It's best to have the work performed at a credible experienced installation shop.
I’m wanting to install remote start on my 98 Chevy c2500 without power locks or anything. What are my options? If I use this unit do I need the blade al? If I installed a universal keyless entry kit would it work with this?
Yes and yes
