- Dark rooms, no meals and daily beatings with baseball bats. This was the ordeal faced by thousands of Indian victims of a jobs fraud in Cambodia. Over 360 Indian nationals have been rescued or repatriated after an intervention by the Indian embassy. The Police Commissioner Of Vishakapatnam A Ravi Shankar details the specifics of the Chinese-run operation in an exclusive chat with Parikshit Luthra.
On Friday, 24 May, 27 youths trafficked to Cambodia from Visakhapatnam and its vicinity returned home. Out of the 58 rescued, 27 were from Andhra Pradesh. Promised jobs, they were sold to Chinese operators in Cambodia, subjected to torture, and forced into cybercrimes and Ponzi schemes. According to Visakhapatnam Joint Commissioner of Police Fakkeerappa Kaginelli, nearly 5,000 Indians were trafficked to Cambodia from across the country through various agents.
On 18 May, Vizag police arrested Chukka Rajesh, S Kondala Rao and M Jnaneshwar Rao on human trafficking charges for luring youth from India with data entry jobs in Singapore but actually trafficking them to Cambodia to carry out cybercrimes.
The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday, 26 May, appealed to youth seeking employment abroad, particularly in South East Asian countries, to thoroughly verify the antecedents of recruitment agents and companies before applying for a job.
The advisory was issued in the wake of rescue of 83 Tamil youths from Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar, where they were taken on tourist visas under the pretext of providing jobs in the IT sector and later were forced to engage in ‘illegal online activities.’
Citing reports of Indian nationals being lured by unregistered agents with high paying jobs in Laos, the Non-Resident Tamil’s Welfare department in an official release on Sunday said the candidates were taken illegally across the border into Laos from Thailand and were held captive to work under ‘harsh and restrictive conditions.’

I’m Cambodian ! Cambodia it’s truly a beautiful country and beautiful people very loyal and charitable as a real Khmer background . The sad part it’s that neighboring countries were taking the advantage and kindness of Cambodia country policies as neighboring countries moved their business and invest into Cambodia then exploit the underprivileged of innocents Khmers and the vulnerable people . I’ve seen more and heard lots of scammers as others nationality fled to Cambodia and spread false rumors that Cambodia it’s a skam country let me be clear there’s a lots foreigners as China that exploits underage Khmer girls to work for them unpaid and mistreat . Criminals companies , employees use Cambodia country as an opportunities to infiltrated their crimes and abuse locals people.

@hf…7271. High ranking Cambodian officials are making millions letting Chinese run these scam centers. They get their shares, that’s why this problem will never go away. Cambodian government have no tax revenue, so this is their income.

Escape from there and go to Phnom Penh..there is an embassy..you can report there and get white passport and return to your home land ...don't go to police station there ...the police will get back you to your company
