    In this episode in our series of bonsai techniques we will be covering initial styling of a giant collected dwarf jade / Portulacaria. The main purpose of this video is to show we initial train a collected raw portulacaria into a beautiful bonsai. This port was collected and planted into bonsai mix almost 2 years ago.       ​@@BaikoenBonsaiI like the backside as the tree looks much fuller. Once you shape the branches I think it would be an amazing specimen one day 🎉 cheers

    This bonsai is a beast definitely use the back as the front. I personally like the hollow parts but still change the back to front.

    Much more interesting from backside. Depth of tree is emphasized and your point about main trunk leaning forward is important consideration. That's a brute!

    That back side doesn't have anything going on at the bottom. No roots to see and a trunk that just plunges straight down into the soil. It almost gives it a reverse taper at the base before the trunks separate. Also, when you have three thick trunks like that in a clump you don't want your main biggest trunk to be so strongly at the front like that, it takes over the whole composition. I like your original front, but when you moved a little to your left and you could see the whole base and the three big trunks.

      Thank you for the comments and insight. I'm going to keep the front for now, the back is a bit straight but I havent exposed the root base on that backside yet. I'll get around to it in a couple of months.

      We have an instagram however only I’m saturated with work to post and really fully utilize it
