As requested, my goal is my first half marathon whilst maintaining a decent amount of muscle like yourself. Thanks for the inspiration, its not a ultra marathon but its a first step
Great to hear, all the best with your training!
Trying to achieve they same thing this year, Goal is September for the half
Enjoy your ultra 10 mile race! :')
Great goal, currently in progress myself
@mulder7 I'm in the same boat buddy! Half marathon in April.test the body 😅
I will be training this year to complete my second Leadville 100 MTB in Leadville, Colorado. A 100 mile mountain bike race, 12,000 ft elevation gain at 11,000 ft altitude, widely considered to be the hardest one day mountain bike race in the US. I love watching Fergus crush some workouts while crushing my own workouts!
Thanks for keeping me motivated to grind thru the winter!
Wow, what a busy day fergus! Taking inspiration for my own channel, loving the recent content!
Currently focussing on Ghent marathon (Belgium) on March 24th. Aiming for 3:10 and if training goes well maybe sub 3, but that might be a little too ambitious/ high of a goal. Video's are btw very motivational and inspirational, pls keep up!
Your work ethic is truly admirable. The discipline involved to have a day like that, fitting everything in is high level performance in itself.
My goals for this year, continue with strength training 2-4 sessions per week whilst balancing endurance cycling, hoping to hit my first 300km audax this year, tick off at least 30 Hewitts (mountains of England and Wales) through hiking and complete my first 50km distance hike/jog/walk. Also signed up to my first Hyrox towards the end of the year.
I think that counts as hybrid training. All at the young age of 46.
Thanks for the ongoing inspiration Fergus, between you and mark lewis (the other fitness youtuber and hybrid athlete I follow) I get so much motivation to combine all these disciplines.
Training for my First Marathon & Powerlifting meet this year. You're an inspiration!
I have been following you for a while and thanks for the inspiration and motivation.
I am currently training for my first semi marathon followed by my first triathlon, Olympic distance.
My goal this year is my local 10k, something I’ve always wanted to do but never really got in to running properly. This year that changes, staying consistent with running now, alongside focusing on strength more than I ever have. Loving it so far
You can do it bro! Always just one more step :)
Thanks for the peek into your day. Crazy busy!
I'm training for a few 50km plus trail ultras this year, with a 116km event towards the years end.
Started the year with a bang, but not in a good way! Bout of covid, then a fractured rib after a mishap with my boxer pup.
So, it's a change of pace and training focus while I heal, then onwards and upwards.😊🤞
My nan got dementia last year so to try raise money for dementia research I’m running a half marathon, marathon, half Ironman and Ironman all in the space of a year all done at about 90kg was 110 but had to drop good bit so the knees don’t give out 😅
You can do it
My focus this year is running the Grizzly (20 mile trail run AKA an easy morning jog for Fergus!) in March, while trying to hold on to as much muscle as possible. Then I'm chasing a sub-20 5k, then switching the focus to some top end strength-related goals. Loving the process so far!
Training for my first marathon (Trails) in May, almost a year to the date I did my very first 5k Park Run and decided to go for one of the hardest ones in the UK......
Your videos have been a great source of information and super stoked for the events I have over the next few months.
Ultras / Trialathons / Ironmans one day...... 💪
Currently training for Beskyska 7 Ultra Trail, 101k and 5.5k elevation, first ultra after managing to going from 130kg down to 100kg(hoping to get down to 90kg before the race).
Preparing and building for my first marathon ever in April, aiming to finish under 4 hours (running since October 2022). Loved the video as usual, cheers!
Preparing for my first (maybe only although unlikely) venture up to the 100k distance with the isle of wight 100k in May. Keep up the good work!
Signed up to my first half marathon, albeit 8 months away, but its new motivation and challenge for me. A buddy challenged to run it in sub 2 hours, so I'm changing my approach to training from a primarily strength focused perspective to now one that's more hybrid focused. A very fun few weeks of training and I'm looking forward to the future sessions!
Inspirational as always Fergus! My goals this year. Sub hour 10k and complete a half marathon. Squat 180 for 3, Deadlift 200 for 3 and Bench 130 for 3.
Training for 5km and recovering from sciatica. Hopefully one day can be training with more volume like yourself! Keep up the inspiring content
Awesome :) get that snowball rolling! Reaching that 5km will feel amazing
Looking at the 4x4x48 in March with a couple friends.
And a 50km in June.
Need to build the volume.
Another great vid ur a savage
Serious going Fergus! I’m planning on cycling from Ireland to Italy in under 3 weeks (in May) 😅 plus my first full distance Ironman in July 👍🏼
Incredible, always so inspiring and absolutely love the videos. I’m currently training for a full Ironman after snapping my ACL/MCL playing rugby. You’re such an outstanding bloke, keep it up Fergus.
All the best my man, thanks for watching!
Was good meeting you that day at the My Protein run club.
I'm training for the Ultra Tour of Arran in April. Looking forward to it, gonna be hard, lots of different terrain and climbing over the 2 days!!
Going to do Arran too! Good. Luck with the training
This dude is the bomb!
250 KM?? Add 7 and that's a Spartathlon, mate.
Kudos and Success, I'm following you from now on for inspiration and motivation (ultrarunner, but getting back from a very successful 2019 doing fast and short road races and terrible corona years doing almost nothing).
Training for my first marathon this year at Loch Rannoch in October, hoping to run it under 4 hours while maintaining lifting volume throughout training. Really interesting and informative to see how your hybrid training looks for such a huge event. Cheers!
Good luck bro! You can do it
I know how before watching the video.... You being a Beast^^ Just ran my first half marathon myself. A week before that my max was 10km. It was quite tough, and i was abit hammered. Did it in 1h and 55min tho ;)
Very cool! We can always do way more then we think
My goal is to run my first 100k in June. Goodluck to you running the 250!
Got my second marathon in April. Not done any gym work since november, start of running training. I stuggle to hit both things at once, juggling family life (2 kids). My goal after the, hopefully 3.30 marathon, will be to hit the gym and keep running.
Hitting my first marathon in May (picked up Omnia Performance's Strength + Marathon for it), and shooting for an ultra in the second half of the year!
I'm glad your hip is alright Fergus 🥳
1st - I don't shower again and again on days when I have two or more training sessions, can't be arsed 😀 One shower a day is enough, ok, max two 😀
2nd - I'm in preparation for my second attempt to Highlander Last One Standing in 20th of July 💪
Last year I managed 31 hours/loops, which was my longest run so far of 214km 💪
I've done few 100miles running races (best one 16h57min59s on running track) and I'm hoping to win in July 🙌
Will look forward to yours 250km at the end of March mate 💪
PS
I lived in Edi for like 8years and I recognise the park you did your 96h 4/4/4/4/4/4 Goggings challenge 👏
I moved to Fife (North Queensferry) 10years ago and I love it here on this side of the Forth Road Bridge 😀
I am training for the Ronde van Vlaanderen in Belgium (257km bike ride with 2500m+ elevation gain) in April and a Half Ironman in june.
Training for a backyard ultra in march and after that I'll have to get started on getting ready for UTMB
I have two goal races this year: a 16k trail race / hike, good for beginners as we have a looot of time to get it done and then my first half marathon hopefully, plus I wanna do a lot of cycling & mountaineering & climbing and overall keeping my strength especially also in the upper body (for climbing mainly). Just staying healthy and getting fitter and fitter🎉
thanks for all your content. I have to run in the dark and cold a lot (-8 degrees this weeknd plus lots of snow and ice) and I always think of the term “the wintering” 😂 so if I don’t wanna do it, I just think about your videos about the wintering and “what would fergus do?”🙌🏻😂
Hey Fergus! Hope you're having a wonderful day, just wanted to ask on what's your opinion of Tactical Barbell. Whether it's good or bad and if you have something to recommend similar to it . I'm currently doing basebuilding (8 week program focusing on aerobic endurance, muscular strength and max strength) and will be running black/operator for the continuation protocol. Cheers!
I’m currently training for my first strongman competition of 2024 (Iron Freaks Battle Of The Nations 2024 qualifier 17th March) and my first ever 10k in June!
Training for my first running challenge: the full Rotterdam Marathon (goal is sub-4h). Good luck with the training for the ultra marathon, Fergus!
Currently training for my first full marathon in Edinburgh this May and aiming at a sub 4h time!
Been focused on hypertrophy/powerbuilding the last couple months, going to try and hit some non-PRs next week of SBD 420-310-485 before diving into a 50k prep for a June race. BIG event soon after is the Pacific Crest Trail so we’ll see how that goes (trekking 2500miles from Canada to Mexico)💀
I'm training for a half marathon - the Edinburgh Half, actually! Will be my first half and I've decided I'm going to do it sub-90. Currently building mileage and a base, working at around 50km/week atm and planning to hit 70 in a month or so, then maintain that and add speed sessions in to hopefully build. And trying to bulk at the same time so that's good fun 🙃
As an aside, even though I know that you live in Edinburgh and train around the city, it's always weirdly exciting seeing places that I recognise in your videos. Which, obviously, is all the time, because I also train at the Meadows and the canal pretty frequently, lol
West highland way over two days and a couple of ultra races booked. Big year
good content! only one little suggestion for improvment: get the sound equal on each scene. sometimes it is so quiet! keep on going!
My goal for this year, is an OCR marathon called Strong Viking, which will be my first marathon. I might be in over my head, but am really looking forward to it.
For 2024 my goal is to do a 1000km bike ride in 50 hours.
Have a 480 bike ride under my belt but feeling like pushing my limits.
If anyone has experience with something like a 1000km bike ride would love to have a chat about it.
Fergus you are an absolute inspiration
Currently training for the London Marathon, haven’t ran further than 10k since 2015. Been training since early November, have to say I’m thoroughly enjoying it, never been into run my whole life but I am now constantly getting the runners high. Any top tips for the big day would be much appreciated ❤
I'm currently training for a few 10k races for this summer and working on my strength goals
First Marathon in April. Followed by National 3 Peaks in June. Lots of endurance stuff atm
ok, both you and Ross Edgely talk about flapjacks when eating what appears to be a protein bar.. in the US it's comething completely different (pancake (thick crepe).. now i get it!
Seen as how I have let my strength drop off slightly last year, the first few months of this year are dedicated to 1.5x bw squat and bench and 2x bw deadlift. Whilst still being able to tick over with triathlon training. Focussing more on running as this was a weak point last year.
Currently at week 9 of your big three + 5km plan! Just got hit hard with covid which kinda ruined a whole weeks worth of training but onwards and upwards! Biggest goal this year is a 500kg total and a sub 23 5km
Currently have Manchester Marathon as the main goal while maintaining/gaining top end strength, leading into the national 3 peaks challenge in the summer and finishing the year off with a 50 mile ultra marathon with my better half, all programming form Omnia of course 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Current goals complete at least one half marathon event this year (this being my first ever half event) furthest I’ve ran before now is 17km so looking forward to the challenge
Currently training for my 3rd half marathon... The. Building for my first marathon this fall.
Got the Goggins 4x4x48 the first weekend of March. It will be my 4th year doing it and to add some more fun to the challenge I will be running up a "mountain" for each leg. Each summit is roughly 414 meters of elevation gain for 12 legs total with just shy of 5k sum of elevation gain. Hopefully, in late November I'll run my 2nd marathon, I failed miserably during my first attempt due to muscle cramps but still finished. Hoping to redeem myself the 2nd go around.
Trying to keep my strength at 100kg bench, 130kg squat, 160kg Deadlift and training for the Brighton marathon on April 4th and my first 100km ultra on 27th April. Managed to complete my local 5k park run in 19.23 which I'm pretty happy about. So sub 18 mins would be great by the end of the year. Needless to say my legs are pretty sore most days considering I'm a 42 year old dude. You just don't recover as quick as when you were 25 even with creatine lol.
I am training for 25 events this year, everything from 5 mile run to 90 mile backpacking trip and 50 -120 mile bike events
I have a recurring trochanteric bursitis issue as well. Paid 500 quid for a steroid injection only for it to rear it’s ugly head (far too) soon after. Thought my long distance days were over, then I committed to 15mins cold baths post run and it really has opened doors for me again. Still there if I poke and prod but very manageable. Just goes to show sometimes the simple methods are the best.
So much so I’m hoping to take part in the West Highland Way Race next year.
Goal for the year - I've signed up for 2 half marathons this year, and after focusing very much on building muscle last year, I'm aiming to maintain as much as possible while really ramping the running, with the goal of (maybe, hopefully?) going sub 1:30 for my October half marathon at Melbourne Marathon Festival!
About to commence marathon prep block for Windermere in May (first one!) just PB in the half at the weekend (1:34) , Coniston 14 Miler booked for March also.
What is the head torch you have? Think I need an upgrade this year
Aiming to do my first Marathon in the second half of the year while maintaining enough strength to try and podium at weightlifting Nationals
I’m training for a big charity 24 hour ultramarathon! I’ll be attempting to run to 24 sports venues across London in 24 hours for CALM and Sport in Mind! Bitten off WAAAAY more than I can chew but that’s what makes it exciting 👊🏽
Goals for 2024: PR my 1/2 Marathon, complete a marathon, get back to the gym and recover my deadlift, benche press and squat, since I haven't been to the gym for 4 months and I'm sure I lost some strenght.
On triple days I would shower 1 time after the morning workout. 2 times in summer.
I’m training for my first road marathon in May, then a 50k trail ultra in August. I’ve been running for around 10 years and have done races for 5k to 100miles… just not road marathon yet.
Currently training for tough mudder infintity in Scotland in June, aiming for 35 miles minimum
Currently training for my first half marathon in May and first hyrox in June
Great video! I have 2 marathons on the books. Ran my first one last year (3:54). Would love to get under 3:40.
Rob Borrow Leeds marathon 2024 as my first marathon at 20 aiming for sub 3:30, only started running in september of 2023 but making some good progress all whilst maintaining at-least a 470kg PL total at 66kg
2nd Hyrox March 2nd in Glasgow (nice self birthday present😂). 1st half marathon in alloa March 17th, maintain or improve gym lifts with 2 sessions per week
What trousers are you wearing in the gym? I want some
Hi Fergus, training for Hyrox Birmingham and Elbaman half ironman end of September, at the age of 61 i don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon!. BTW what model headtorch were you using?. Thanks Mark
Nice one mark good going
Living in NZ...Routeburn classic in April and Coast to Coast Feb 2025.
My goal is to beat this overtraining/ burnout that I'm in and get back to running and enjoying life.
22 weeks out from my first 50k ultra along part of the south west costal path...
Chester Ultra (50 miler) on 2nd March....all prayers are welcome 🙏
I am currently training for UTS 100k and rather anxious about it. Looking to maintain reasonable strength/ functionality as I up my hill volume.
No shower was of course the correct choice.
Just for the interest- are you logging in all of your training in Strava? Or there are just some random workouts uploaded?
Hyrox doubles June 1 in NYC, then a half two weeks later, with a sub-1:30 goal
Trying to go for a sub 1h30 HM. Quite high goal (PB is 1:37) but going for it. Currently battling some niggles (hamstring strain)
Planning for a 25K in May. I start my 16-week training on Monday.
My first marathon this year at 16 years old. Currently 196cm and 100kg and on March 24th I will be running the Le Valette Marathon. Aiming for a sub 4:30
Currently tapering for my first backyard ultra next weekend. Will I run further than a marathon? Yes. Will I reach my goal of 100km? Maybe. Will I pop my pants? Most likely.
Currently training for Ultra Trail Snowdonia 100k which is double the distance which I have currently ran before
I wish i could just go run alone when dark, as a female in my City is just kind of dangerous tho.
Anyway, my goals are complete a half marathon while working on my first pull up!
This year I'm training for
Double body weight squat
100kgs overhead
1:55 half marathon
90min open hyrox
Lost 2st last year. Plan is to lose another 2st this year, do my first 10k, and do park runs at least once a month from June onwards.
Hi Fergus, I’m currently prepping for my first full IronMan in Frankfurt 2024 any joiners?
I am exhausted just watching this 👀
Goals:
1) PR my half marathon
2) Complete first half Marathon
3) Compete in BJJ at middleweight (215lbs)
Currently training for my first 50k in April.
I'm heading for my first ever tri 18th May, Nottingham outlaw Half 😳
It’s a great course. Bike is quick, even though I am slow!
My goal this year is to go from 112kg to 95kg, I will also later in the year be dipping my toes into training for a sprint triathlon :)
Did exactly the same (110 to 95) 4 years ago. You will also do it 🤙
@@dsd6538 thanks for the confidence dude :)
My goal is to finish a full Ironman in October (after I finish the Wintering)
Training for a marathon this year and Ironman next year. All while trying to maintain or even gain a little strength in the process. Hoping to not die in the process 😂
Edinburgh marathon!
Goals for 2024 - Edinburgh Marathon, The Wall Ultra, and place in the top 100 at G2E 🏃♂️
Currently training for Thames path 100km continuous run any tips would be hugely appreciated
Looking at that as well after Ironman number 4 in June but first Ironman in 5 years
My goals for this year are a 400kg powerlifting total and a half marathon in under 2 hours
Hey, training for a half marathon at the end of May, then start to get into the triathlon, and start some Ironman training
🏃🏋🏃
A sub 3hr 30 marathon. Completed a 3:58 last year
