The filming is insane, the way you catch the moments. And when you edit it the way you do and put it all together with the music the result is just amazing.
Agree! He is such an inspiration! He and Casey Neistat have influenced the style of my videos so much! Both have great filming and editing skills, I try to learn as much as I can while adding my own elements into my videos. I don't think he is just a ripoff of Casey, both of them are talented and produce great content for us :)
Absolutely blown away. Wow. It's definitely an aspiration to end up on your production team someday, Jack. Hell, even achieving this production quality is an aspiration. This is by far the most beautiful piece that you've uploaded to your channel. Huge props to the editors especially - It's crazy how stressful working on a project of this magnitude can be so well-done to all involved. :D
There has been a lot of talk about this whole Casey calling out Jack, however I think this video stops all that chatter. It is beautiful. It is original. It is clever. Yet most of all, it is true to Jacksgap's own style and shows a love of film making. Truly a joy to watch.
Brett Worth Going places and filming it isn't doing it first. There are hundreds of people who have filmed things in Japan. However, Jack put this together in a very artistic manner; The filming, sound effects, choice of music, quality, and all of the other various ways he expressed himself made this original and beautiful. Regardless, I really doubt that he saw your vlogs. Each only having a couple hundred of views, for Christ's sake.
Kira B Casey made a video called "Short Skirts and Rip off Artists," where Casey complained that there are some people who take people's ideas and hide behind the excuse that it was just 'inspiration.' Casey threw shade at Jack, who has made quite a few videos that reflect the artistic style of Casey. But many forget that Jack has plenty of other creative ideas, especially this video here!
Its so nice to see you create something that actually feels original and fresh. Honestly this comes across so sincerely, and I hope that you can continue to make films that feel like they are an extension of you and not a imitation.
Kitsch Harris This video is exactly like Leonardo Dalessandri's "Watchtower of Turkey" but not as good.. First he copies Casey Neistat... Now Leonardo Dalessandri.... Find your own style.
WhatTechShow Godness guys, cut this dude some slack. Try to create something from absolutely zero and only then you will be allowed to accuse anyone of not doing the same
***** Are you guys serious? Forget about Jacksgap, I just watched Watchtower of Turkey, and it is in NO WAY comparable to this, be it in shots quality, editing skills or even music! My God, I feel like a new man after watching it. If I was Leonardo, I would feel insulted. WhatTechShow Spot On. Everyone here in studio in the doco dept picked that exactly! Darn. Was really hoping he pulled his act together and do the honorable thing.
I watched this several times now and I'm so grateful. I live in Tokyo and have been living there for eight years now. I am Japanese inside and out. My whole life I wanted to see someone create something to reflect on Tokyo as something no one has seen before. As a county Japan is so connected and together. Our culture is one that is different from all and can really make ones soul think. We our connected to our space and nature to make sure animals can live in an healthy area. We make sure that visitors and fellow citizens can explore clean spaces and not get sick. We make sure our country is safe. That parents are happy to send of their children to school on their own to discover what it is to take care of yourself and others. So thank you for creating such a thing that really shows what Japan is.
I have always wanted to visit Japan. Your comment is truly beautiful and idk, it touched my heart, I guess :') I hope one day I'll be able to visit your country!
Quick Rant : I absolutely love the fact that even though Jack started out as most RUclipsrs, just a pretty face doing challenge videos, he ended up taking a completely different route. He could've kept following the crowd, could've gone on tour, and definitely could've had a book out by now but instead he took his passion and made wonderful videos out of it. I have so much respect for him being him.
Absolutely beautiful. What I love most is how different this is from the New Orleans one. Both have incredibly distinguished character and illicit different emotions. One fun and upbeat, this one beautiful and stunning.
I'm a japanese high school student. Jack inspired me. I noticed japanese beauty. I'm foolish. I wanted to trip all over the world, but a person who doesn't respect his country shouldn't trip anywhere.I learn that from this video. Thanks Jack! I respect you.
This video gave me chills. The editing, sound, the quality of everything really is reminiscent of an etheral dream. I didn't know it was possible to pour so much spirit and soul into only 4 minutes worth of videos!
Cedric of Lonelyberg RUclips is his company and income partially. With so many subscribers he should live up to a shedule. It's like TV show makers saying: Game of thrones episode for this week? Naahhh, we just wont release it and not say anything about it. But i agree on a bigger perspective with your opinion.
BananaBread thats the beauty of JacksGap. There is no schedule, they care about their supporters so much that they would rather upload an outstanding quality video in a random order than upload a bad quality video every week. i like what they do at the minute. it gives a sense of surprise and suspense. However, i respect your opinion
Thumbs this comment up if you think JacksGap should make a "How To Build the DSLR Head Rig" video! I absolutely love the idea and I'd love to have one of my own :)
Hamilton Troy Hayes Hey guys, I've just made the banner for my new channel, could you please tell me what do you think of it? It would be so nice! (I've spent the last 2 hours on it... :p )
The editing....wow, it's absolutely perfect. Especially the whips from some scenes to others. Also, the shots with the monkeys and the sound design were stunning!
***** Hi guys, I've just made the banner for my new channel, could you please tell me what do you think of it? It would be so nice! (I've spent the last 2 hours on it... :p )
3:07 to 3:24 That part gave me goosebumps. I was so overwhelmed by those clips of nature that it actually brought tears to my eyes. I cannot express how much I want to go to a place like this. Thank you very much for sharing such a fascinating experience.
I was a little surprised to see Tokyo is so fresh and modern. Thank you for including the Geishas. They were truly lovely. And the "Hey Jude" sing along at the bar...inviting!
So was I, it was nowhere near as weird and crazy as I thought it would be... Then one day I was in an arcade bathroom and pee'd on a target while a little screen gave me points and a rating... It made for a fun vlog though!
It looks like you've taken inspiration from "Watch Tower Of Turkey" which is possibly my favourite video on the internet. I loved this. Can't wait for the next one!
I watched "Watch Tower of Turkey" and I really didn't notice too many similarities. Was it the editing and/or feel of the videos that sort of matched eachother?
Hyde Fast paced editing, calm music, close ups of strangers faces in slow motion all with the intention of revealing a different culture. I'm not saying he flat out copied "Watch Tower Of Turkey" but it definitely looks like he tried to emulate a certain style. And I first saw the video months ago when it was tweeted by Finn himself so... But I don't him for trying out this new style. I did the same thing trying to practice based on WTOT
Definitely see the similarities as well! WToT is one of my favorite videos so this was really cool to see Jack try the style out himself. I read a step by step article by the filmmaker about his editing process so I wouldn't be surprised if Jack read and learned from that as well.
Amazingly shot ! It was so well edited that I felt as if I was literally living the journey with him. It gave me chills throughout the whole video. The feels !! As usual Jack, your talent always pays off with great results !
This was such a beautiful video 😩 I'm from Tokyo and you really showed what it TRULY is to be in Japan, so nostalgic! Even the scene where you did kanpai with that man ☺️ loved it❤️
Leena Balanag Yeah but this video title is misleading because it's not just Tokyo and I doubt it was done in only 24 hours. Those were shots of Kyoto and probably parts of Nagano too in there.
Choco Manger Yes, seems like it. The inaka scenes like the monkeys and temple might have been in Hakone or Niigata area and it takes time to go to those places.
This video is one of the best videos you've ever made. It captures the culture beautifully, and to be honest, it almost made me tear up. I feel so lucky to live in this amazing world, and I'm glad that the technology has evolved this far, so that we're able to travel the world with you. Love from Finland x
I think jack and finn handled themselves extremely well with the whole Casey situation. They could have easily come out and defended themselves, but they instead chose to be mature about the whole situation and make such a beautiful and amazing video!
Kate Wilson I think this entire this video was made way before the Casey situation. He was in Japan about 2 months ago. They have been mature by admitting their mistake and shutting down the vlogging series.
Cailin Prior Basically Casey called out JacksGap, Quiksilver and many more for copying him and not giving credit. He did so when JacksGap decided to vlog their new company, exactly what Case has stated to do with his vlogs. Hence, you see they stopped the Good Collective vlogs.
People started claiming Jack was copying Casey Neistat's work, and the comment section of the Good Collective videos was the ultimate place for them to complain about these accusations, because Casey had just started vlogging when Jack decided to make a vlog series (even though it was only going to be a few episodes, so I don't see any harm in Jack vlogging). I'm guessing Jack cut the series short to avoid people bitching about his videos in the comments.
Guess he was copying some other guy because they both made vlogs. like I didn't know casey had copyright on vlogging. but I guess everyones freaking out about it...
The video for Ella - "Inspired" by Casey Neistat Video of the knife of whatever that was - "Inspired by Casey Neistat" Intro-"inspired by Casey Neistat Decided to start daily vlogging to promote his new company - "inspired" by Casey Neistat Vlogging angles - "inspired" by Casey Neistat Kinda annoying, Casey is tired of people copying him behind the idea of being inspired by his work. Jack has such a big following on RUclips and basically making money basing his videos on other people's ideas (most of the time). Its not so hard to understand yo!! Casey works hard to be original, to do his own thing.. And being copied by others is not necessarily pleasant. You can be inspired and create your own style but this is not happening is this case. Peace!
Thibault Tresca MattyBoySD yes you do have control for iso etc on a gopro. however you can read on their blog why they decided to go for a dslr instead of a gopro, (something new, more challenging, A7s' wonderful performances in low light, etc..).
Now this is what you should be doing Jack. This is your strong suit, is original, and is a reflection of your own ideas and creativity. Glad you didn't get defensive about Casey and realised you were in the wrong and put out amazing content of your own instead. :)
wow. jack, your videos have always been amazing, but i think this one just blew me away. the stunning shots, the beautiful scenery, you've honestly shown us all how much your filming skills have improved. i've watched this video over 5 times, and it still takes my breath away. gorgeous video.
+Harry Squatter it is their cultures bro, if you guys can approved the killings of cows and chicken why can't them. it is just that the whales just an endangered species. hundreds of years ago nobody know that. it takes a lot of work to redefined that especially it is one of the local way to earns money. country with a cultures of killings, i dont know what is your country but if you're from western try to remember that you guys also had that same cultures--especially American. but Japan do have some flaw that in their cultures..
The vibe was completely different from the New Orleans one, did this reflect your own emotions as you went through Japan? I am so fascinated by the choice of music and the fast zooming into people and things; it made me feel like I was on a journey, seeing things much older than myself.
this is my most favorite youtube video of all time. every now and then i think about this video and just come back to watch it. this video made me fall in love with japan
Rachael Adams there are more gate here in Japan when you enter shrines. Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine might be the most famous due to the large number of gates, but there are a lot all over Japan.
Rachael Adams there are more gate here in Japan when you enter shrines. Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Shrine might be the most famous due to the large number of gates, but there are a lot all over Japan.
velantelle But that looks exactly like Fushimi Inari and after that it also looks like the bamboo grove in Arashiyama - especially with the lake/river boat!
Matthew White Everybody...vlogs. I don't understand why Casey got upset (I assume he got upset from his videos) including others, too (from the comment sections). Do you believe he was the original thought process behind vlogging? No. I respect Casey and his work, but-- wow. Talk about greed (on both parts, you can say, but only because WE do not truly know what's going on - so this is only an assumption). It's not easy finding something original, especially since not everybody knows what's out there. You may come across something original, and you might believe it's original without knowing somebody had done the concept already. Others who are butt-hurt about originality are too attached with the idea of originality. I find it annoying when I am trying to be original with my writing - I always think I am copying someone someway or another. Personally, I would have LOVED to see Jack vlog! We enjoy him as a creator, so he might as well CREATE (whether it's vlogging or not). Almost all of the successful RUclips personas vlog, anyway. CAUTION: THIS DOES NOT COME ACROSS AS RUDE, FOR I ENJOY BOTH CREATORS!
Sophie Handbridge We had to take a break from the Good Collective series to focus on finishing a few other ongoing projects. We will be concluding that series very soon. Thanks for being patient!
The quality of your videos is absolutely ridiculous! What an amazing group of creatives coming together to make something like this. Thank you for the inspiration I've needed x
I personally think the Rickshaw run was the end of jacksgap. It's certainly become very corporate, it's not the same Jack that used to make videos in his bedroom and actually looked like he was having fun everyday. Posting funny videos like unicycles and the trips to New York and ibiza. Thats what earned you 3 million subscribers. This is way too corporate. It's not that I don't like Jack. I think him and Finn are fucking great. It's just not the same stuff which people fell in love with.
Why Jack doesn't mention the cities he filmed correctly? Most scenes in this video are NOT taken in Tokyo. People need to know the correct information.
Vreede Anna He DOES mention it, you should start reading his website. In his website it says: The idea was to see as much of the city as possible, as well as some of the near by cities of Kyoto and Nagano.
No matter the city or place you shot this video at, I think it is absolutely brilliant. You were able to record beautiful content in 24 hours and put it into a four and a half long video. The complexity of this video and the way you shot it, you captured every golden moment. Every moment with an astonishing feeling, like, ‘nothing in the word could be better than this… Right. Here.’ I have loved watching the progression of this channel, it has come so far. With every video I watch, it keeps getting better and better.
Love the moments here, especially that with the monkeys. I love how your content has developed differently. I wasn't a fan when you first started but I might change my mind now. By the way, that lens!
Lovely video but be honest dude: 1.Not just Tokyo, could clearly see the Fushimi-Inari shine and bamboo in Kyoto, Nagano and that region with the monkeys, bullet train and the river... 2. Clearly not filmed in 24 hours
+sophgirl1 Its strange. He could have just said that he wanted to showcase all the footage edited into 1 day, from morning till night. And then named it 24 hours in Japan, and it would have had the same effect, i think. I immediately noticed when he went to Daimonji-yama san. Its too famous to not notice, haha.
Yes, the title is misleading, but besides that, the film was a fairly accurate portrayal of the beauty of Japan and its people. I wish I could make videos that beautiful. Very well done, guys.
As an aspiring filmmaker, this was absolutely fantastic to watch. the filming was incredible and I loved it. I have one question about Jack and Finn though, as I am still a bit new to this channel. Do Jack and Finn live separately now? I haven't seen them together in any recent videos, but maybe I just haven't watched it yet. again, absolutely amazing. :)
The filming is insane, the way you catch the moments. And when you edit it the way you do and put it all together with the music the result is just amazing.
Really very correct
I love the way you edit videos they are amazing.
+Jade Entrópica Very well done, indeed.
He's just a ripoff of Casey Neistat
Agree! He is such an inspiration! He and Casey Neistat have influenced the style of my videos so much! Both have great filming and editing skills, I try to learn as much as I can while adding my own elements into my videos. I don't think he is just a ripoff of Casey, both of them are talented and produce great content for us :)
Love how the sounds and music ended up mixing so well together. Really pulls you in.
Fantastic! Really lovely video Jack- all about the monkeys though- stunning!
Hey fellow irish youtuber :P! Amazingly well done video.
Haunting
Absolutely blown away. Wow.
It's definitely an aspiration to end up on your production team someday, Jack. Hell, even achieving this production quality is an aspiration.
This is by far the most beautiful piece that you've uploaded to your channel. Huge props to the editors especially - It's crazy how stressful working on a project of this magnitude can be so well-done to all involved. :D
***** couldnt have said it better

Can you maybe fill me in on what happened with Casey and Jack and the chatter? It seems I missed that but I would actually be interested
Goggalor Haha, I was kidding man, I thought that was obvious! Relax, of course he wasn't copying me - it was a joke. Have an awesome week :)
Huh what happened? I thought Casey and Jack were friends.

Whoever did sound on this video >>>
I watched this several times now and I'm so grateful. I live in Tokyo and have been living there for eight years now. I am Japanese inside and out. Im going in march. Should be interesting
There is many places with snow moneys. I think the most popular is Nagano or Hakuba

***** I was just about to comment how the editing and the backround music reminds me of a Ben Brown "visual vibes" video
jennyB07 the feel of it reminds me a lot of Canada visual vibes, but shots are completely different of course due to the first person angle.
Yeah I agree! Nicely done Jack. Can't wait for other videos.

BeautyClassyfied Thanks for your feedback. The close up shots were filmed by our talented friend Tim Kellner!
JacksGap this series is so rich in culture and creativity! Hats off to you
I had a funeral for The Good Collective series last night - we sang songs, burned incense and held each other. Sad times.
Did this make anyone else want to cry or...

Kate Wilson what casey situation?
What was going on?
Kate Wilson I think this entire this video was made way before the Casey situation. He was in Japan about 2 months ago. They have been mature by admitting their mistake and shutting down the vlogging series.
Devanshu Kedia what's the casey situation.?
Cailin Prior Basically Casey called out JacksGap, Quiksilver and many more for copying him and not giving credit. He did so when JacksGap decided to vlog their new company, exactly what Case has stated to do with his vlogs. Hence, you see they stopped the Good Collective vlogs.
Quality piece
I want more, Jack!!!!!!
For those saying there is no narrative, it's a montage. And it's beautifully done to chronicle this venture Jack and his team went on. Well done.
this felt literally like a dream.
This makes me homesick for a place i don't even know.
The culture and everything about Japan is just so damn beautiful. Great job on an amazingly well done video. Props to you ;)
2:40 is the most amazing shot I have ever seen on RUclips. Insane stuff as usual, well done JacksGap.
pretty cool mate, can imagine that rig is stressful as hell lol
love u Sawyer!
Guys what happened to the good collective videos? I was looking forward to them!
RainbowSmile Apparently, he copied the idea from another youtuber, didn't give him credit, and got called out for it.
Hyde It's so stupid. Everyday, there are youtubers who starts vlogging. It' not like if Casey had invented anything. Wtf.
The video for Ella - "Inspired" by Casey Neistat
Video of the knife of whatever that was - "Inspired by Casey Neistat"
Intro-"inspired by Casey Neistat
Decided to start daily vlogging to promote his new company - "inspired" by Casey Neistat
Vlogging angles - "inspired" by Casey Neistat
Kinda annoying, Casey is tired of people copying him behind the idea of being inspired by his work.
Peace!
*Wow* Now that's what I call inspiring.
***** trust me daaaady
This video was visually stunning and told a wonderful story. Beautiful!
Jack.... Have you heard of a little device called a GoPro?.. 😂
The Sony is way better quality than a GoPro
yes u are jack is f brain crack go pro shots 4k video ... haha so true coment bro ....
MattyBoySD you cant change lenses on a gopro, you are stuck with the fisheye view and have absolutely no control over aperture, iso, etc etc.
Thibault Tresca MattyBoySD yes you do have control for iso etc on a gopro. however you can read on their blog why they decided to go for a dslr instead of a gopro, (something new, more challenging, A7s' wonderful performances in low light, etc..).
Or Google glass
Now this is what you should be doing Jack. This is your strong suit, is original, and is a reflection of your own ideas and creativity. Glad you didn't get defensive about Casey and realised you were in the wrong and put out amazing content of your own instead. :)
Quickest I've viewed a video ever... And glad it was you guys 🙌🏼
I love this series. The New Orleans one was incredible and so is this. I can't wait to see the last one!
Wow that was super well made, looks fantastic!!
this is what made me subscribe never felt so much love for something. feeling like a spark just ignited in myself
ummmm this is more than just tokyo, this is all over Japan
Tokyo and Japan are the same 😂
^No they're not.. Tokyo is a city in Japan..it's like saying Cincinatti and America is the same thing
queen clifford they're not lol
***** Chill bruh. He's already been corrected three times.
Latiosificationおいしい Yeah he went to Nagano
wow. jack, your videos have always been amazing, but i think this one just blew me away. the stunning shots, the beautiful scenery, you've honestly shown us all how much your filming skills have improved. i've watched this video over 5 times, and it still takes my breath away. gorgeous video.
I wonder what happened to the Good Collective...
I'm American who lives in Japan. greatest country in the world.
lmao
+WarPigs413 so could you explain to me what that symbol at 2:40 means?? Pls
+Carolina Damasceno it means to exist or to posses
thx 😁 I was rlly curious
24 hours in Tokyo but you obviously went to Kyoto too
Rachael Adams there are more gate here in Japan when you enter shrines.

Rachael Adams Does it really matter? lol
No I was replying to a comment if you don't mind.
this was so well made! almost as if I were watching a dream :D
Jack.
This is so good.
This was honestly one of the most stunning and breath taking videos I've seen in a long time.
Hey what happens to the good collective videos?
Nora Cane cancelled them because casey got frustrated at him.
***** he never got angry he just agreed to some comments that said jack copied his style.
Andre Saddler Fixed.
Matthew White how you know? i mean can i find it in a casey vlog?
How come you didn't finish the good collective project x😭
I've been thinking the same thing!
Sophie Handbridge We had to take a break from the Good Collective series to focus on finishing a few other ongoing projects. We will be concluding that series very soon. Thanks for being patient!
Sophie Handbridge yeh good point...i was enjoying those videos
When I grow up I really want to do things like you do now. Even though it will be dangerous for a girl.
That's really sad to think about
Lauren Johnson Yeah it is. :/
Ansku H How would it be dangerous for a girl...
ethangoesrawr girls tend to get harassed a lot more than guys
IamBob Yes, but why would a girl get harassed walking around with a crew and a huge helmet on her head in japan.
I don't know how or why but this made me cry
I want to travel :(
Why Jack doesn't mention the cities he filmed correctly? Most scenes in this video are NOT taken in Tokyo. People need to know the correct information.
Vreede Anna He DOES mention it, you should start reading his website. In his website it says:
The idea was to see as much of the city as possible, as well as some of the near by cities of Kyoto and Nagano.
+Pedro Resende well you shouldn't have to go to another website to better understand a video posted here on RUclips..
I love the style of editing here, like a dream sequence or remembering past experiences are done in the movies.
Love the audio in these 🙌🏼
Tower
why not just use a GoPro?
Nicky & Annie Because the quality of this camera is so much better than a GoPro
Henriette Kusk what camera is this? 5D Mark III
I think so :)
Anonymous 252 A7s I think
Nicky & Annie I thought that too!
This is SO INSPIRATIONAL! I just started my own travel youtube channel and hope to create amazing vids like this one day! Yay Japan
Here.’
I have loved watching the progression of this channel, it has come so far. With every video I watch, it keeps getting better and better.
Looooovveeedddd the monkiiiieeeesss
Love the moments here, especially that with the monkeys. I love how your content has developed differently. I wasn't a fan when you first started but I might change my mind now.
By the way, that lens!
Lovely video but be honest dude:
1.Not just Tokyo, could clearly see the Fushimi-Inari shine and bamboo in Kyoto, Nagano and that region with the monkeys, bullet train and the river...
Maybe
but enjoy the video !
The rest is not very important :)
Yes, the title is misleading, but besides that, the film was a fairly accurate portrayal of the beauty of Japan and its people. I wish I could make videos that beautiful. Very well done, guys.
***** Lmfao. What?
I was just confused as well... some places did look like Kyoto. '0'
The most creative and still my favourite RUclips channel.
Up next, the Philippines! 😊 (I hope)
mikah ong He has already been to Phillippines this year but for some reason he didn't upload anything.
Yes!!! This should happen!
They already went here, and stayed for 10 days to film! Please upload it Jack! 😁👍
They did the Philippines. It's on their channel

Hanna Huang Finn is living in New York but they just got together this week and are shooting a documentary in Africa.
Ah okay. Thank you, I'm excited for the documentary now :)
I'm not sure If they are posting it here on the channel but I'm excited too.
I feel like you could have just used a 4k gopro?
4 years later and this video still inspires me greatly
