Let's use common sense here - you rescue her, feed her, love her, she lives in a beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood, she has a loving extended family in your kids, and a boyfriend! - all of whom spoil her, ("Would you like these grapes or those grapes?") and now her own room! Why in the wide world would she leave? Bless you both for believing that her little life was as important as any other.

I used to do this for years. As a utility worker, they would nest in our splice enclosures. Once disturbed, the mother would abandon them. I instructed my workers to bring them to me after I found out one of them just threw a nest on the ground. I raised and nurtured them, taught them to fly, and painfully let them go to seek their own lives. What a wonderful & memorable experience I had. 👍👍👍

This touches my heart,l've raised several orphan birds and they're all very special. She doesn't know she's a bird,just thinks she's one of the family! Just enjoy your youngest child.

This reminds me of a time, more than a decade ago, that my then-girlfriend and I found one such bird, but with a deformed leg. I took care of it best I could, but unfortunately it passed like a month later.

I think if all empty nesters adopt an abandoned or helpless animal like Iris, then they will again have a purpose and millions of animals will have a loving and caring home. My sister in law has the same bird called Jack. He sleeps on her head or in her hoodie and miss them terribly if they go away for a few days. He is also free flying, but does not want to leave. 💞💞💞

Finches are disarmingly loyal, like little dogs. I hand raised a baby sparrow too, and she was so bonded to me, that despite being able to fly away, she liked to sit on my shoulder and go shopping! The stores would say, "You can't bring her in here, she'll fly away". I said no, she won't. She just sat there on my shoulder all day long. I tried to put her in the garden with other sparrows, nope. Came right back in. Very, very sweet birds. I love sparrows. How nice you adopted a wild pet! She has the best life. Lest anyone think they want to do this too, it is 10 hrs a day feeding every 20 mins! You also have to buy baby bird mash, and then graduate to meal worms and different little worms that you need to keep alive. They need varied foods, and you must do serious research or your bird will be nutritionally deficient. It's not easy. If you are dedicated, become a foster at the local wildlife rehab places or SPCA. Note that most wildlife rehab centers WILL NOT take in doves, sparrows, and some other common birds. They euthanize them because they are too common. So you are the only hope for that bird. Birds also don't show they are sick till its too late. Inspect it carefully, every inch. Bones, feathers, head trauma, Avian pox, bird lice (not contagious to humans), cut skin. All can be fixed.

That’s soo adorable, me and my family have a sparrow of our own that we have rescued just like these good folks. We nurtured her to health and by the time she was full grown we tried to release her but she didn’t want to leave. She came right back to us. So we kept her and still have her to this day 💕💕💕

I absolutely love everything about this story. We have birds we feed. Especially Sparrows.
, We had a "couple" who were very comfortable around us. They would eat from our hand, and even come into the kitchen window and sit on a sill inside. Peep-peep and Puffy. So tiny and sweet with their different personalities. We really enjoyed and looked forward to seeing them every morning, faithfully.
