@@buttsbuttsbutts68 Yeah that’s fair. You can definitely achieve dynamics with triggers, but regardless of how well you manage the samples/set up the triggers, there’s always going to be a robotic element to them in my opinion. I have no problem with them at all, just not my cup of tea
I'm not here to hate on triggers, but i have to admit, this is the best sounding video you've made so far. Acoustic drums just simply sound better to me. Always. I know this is mixed. Beautiful kit, sounds fantastic! Great mixing Declan!
@@drumttocs8 Yes, but compared to the triggers, these are just way more dynamic still. (Not saying triggers can't be dynamic!) It's the very subtle things that just gives the drums life. Hey all! As im a cancer survivor, I was fortunate enough to be eligible for a Make a Wish, and as a drummer, I thought I might as well make my wish useful and long lasting, so I asked for a drumset. And low and behold, after a looong process, I eventually got this kit but in the Blue Abalone color and it looks suuuper gorgeous. I'm doing jazz drums for my major in college currently at Texas State and eventually, I'll be able to use my kit over here. Neeldess to say, this kit is super dope and saved me a ton of money. I just need to replace the heads 😅 Also, along with the kit, I was able to ask for cymbals that I could pick out personally, and I got basically everything I would ever need, including a redline pearl pedal, top of the art pearl equipment, and hardcases as well. I'm very fortunate that Make a Wish was so cool with this process!!!
Im rocking the Pearl Masters Maple Complete right now. When my special order comes in next month ill have 2x 24", 10",13", 16", 18". Love the sound of them
Being a professional acoustic drummer for many moons I love Pearl drums. I have a DW jazz series kit which are maple gum with die cast hoops and I love the resonance.
Maybe the definition of resonance has changed over the years or something, or maybe my ears just can't hear it anymore. I hear almost zero resonance in these drums. Sound flat with a little thud
Whooooa that is such an incredible drum kit! Pearl has really been killing it as of late with their maple gum series and this demo is a perfect example of that! Pearl truly make some fabulous kits, I got a Pearl Decade Maple a few years ago, such a perfect kit. I love how Pearl make drums that sonically capture the best qualities in the tones while not being all about boom or crack; there's plenty of it boom, but it sounds controlled like it's in a studio already. Bravo Pearl & 66samus! \m/ Nothing beats acoustic drums \m/
The warm, natural sound of this kit is just AMAZING! This sounds so much nicer than the kinda synthetic sounding triggered/sound-replaced bass, snare, etc. thanks for this wonderful video. Sex.
When Samus start's playing around 4min in it makes me so happy and nostalgic with what song he chose, it really takes me back to when I first listent to bands like Plini, I built the sky, Arch Echo, StarSystenms and so on, so fucking great, and I'm not gonna lie I did shed a tear
Ive been on pearl since 2007, played a masters kit in February this year (supporting Decapitated in the baltics, i wouldnt say i was fanboying, but i was definitely fanboying 😂) but i digress. The masters kit was a joy to play. I cant afford anything like that, but ill happily stick with my 2007 Export until im dead 🖤
Come for the drums, stay for the Ohh Yurrr! These mixes through a nice set of studio phones...doink! Thanks for always being light hearted and entertaining.
I've heard nothing but high praise for this Master's Maple Gum line. I have a Session Studio Select kit that I've considered eventually replacing. This is the line I may consider over the Reference. I can't wait to see what you think about the new pedals!

This is the best your kit ive heard in a long time! this is incredible' i honestly prefer it over the triggers cut I can see how live mixing can be more taxing on audio latency and such
Pearl makes the perfect rock drum kits. So many people switching to dw these days it seems but I still find pearl to be the best sounding, so powerful and punchy.
I have a set of Bongos made of Gum wood. I think it is just a rubber tree wood. Could be wrong though. They sound incredible! Thanks for your videos. Your the coolest drummer on RUclips. Or perhaps alive. 😊
The maple gum kits are like the gretsch usa customs but with way better qc better hardware and a bit more beef. Very similar tone. Very good under mics. Awesome kit and playing. Love that fade too. Had a masterworks kit with a similar fade back in the day when I was signed with Pearl. Congrats man. Also they did the L arm mount. A lot of people won't use Pearl because the Tom arms but now they have no excuse. Pearl always has made solid drums and hardware. That new pedal they have is also super super fast. They sound great
Love the sound of the drums. Congrats! Would love to know the behind the scenes of mixing everything together. Maybe you could do a video on that? Keep up the amazing work.

Gum! That's wild- gum is the native tree that grows everywhere as an understory. It's extremely common, grows fast, to the point that it's a bit of nuisance tree in many places. I can only imagine that it leads to costs savings for Pearl, but I'm not complaining- I can also imagine it's a lot more sustainable than, say, bubinga.
I don’t know if anyone is an Ice Nine Kills Fan, but if you are, you know that that kick drum sound is so tasty. Sounds really close to Patrick’s kick drum in the live shows and on Welcome to Horrorwood
You could probably make your own kit sound comparable by putting a thinner bevel on the head edges for longer sustain, good heads for tone (since they're responsible for most of the vibration and thus sound), and making sure everything is actually tuned properly.
@@swivelken248chan6 I have a 95 masters studio maple and a 96 starclassic maple(last year aged jap rock maple hand made) and I will always choose the Tama.
