I really loved the mostly AC vibe of Here I Stand, so it’s definitely a favorite of mine. But I totally agree with your placement of it; the critiques are pretty valid in my eyes. I’m at a bit of a standstill with where I’d place My Way and 8701; both are airtight. But I, for one, am very glad that Electro-Ursher is currently gone with the wind. That era of artists having a mandatory EDM cut drove me NUTS. Love in This Club Part II > The Original
My personal favourite and guilty listening pleasure is "Usher" debut from 1994 (fan of Bad Boy) and thought Usher was a rawer with swag Tevin Campbell. Obviously, Usher transitioned to an "adult" audience more successfully than Tevin did, hence more longevity in his career than Tevin (and I really like Tevin Campbell's first two albums).
Great point about Usher's debut being an edgier version of Tevin. Hadn't thought about it that way. Speaking of, you should check out Tevin's 99 album, it's great.

My ranking would be: Confessions > 8701 > Here I Stand > My Way > Usher > Lookin 4 Myself > Hard II Love > Raymond v Raymond > A

There's a lot I love on that album but there's some so-so stuff too. That's why it falls a few rungs.
