Awesome video mate . Hopefully heading there in April/May for a week .. If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated .. I’m based in Karratha
Hi Mark. Some people have gotten really edgy about a previous idea I had about doing a video on safe ways to access and use the place, like they think its a big secret and needs preserving for the illuminati and charter operators only. :-) I just wanted people to do it safely. So I'll sum it up by saying the the whole trip really revolves around getting out there, and back, safely. Water can get really nasty on the trip out there, if you have fresh breeze blowing against a tide. Add the fact that the boat is often overloaded with camping gear and extra fuel, and you have a recipe for disaster. Living in Karratha, you have the great advantage of being close , so you can wait until a good weather window opens up for a week. Once out there, weather is not really a problem. Just a matter of picking where and how you want to camp, bearing in mind that some of those big bays dry out completely , so you will want to be anchoring in the deep water close to their entrances. So you just need to decide whether you are going to do it from Dampier , around 70nm by sea, or drive down to Cape Preston and launch , 100ks of road and 48nm of sea.
Hi Ralph, thanks for that mate. I had no idea about the bays drying out.. ill bear that in ind too .. I think that would be a great idea to do a video about the Islands .. I think sharing the knowledge is what humans are meant to do .. But like all facets of our lives .. a small minority control the rest of us by not sharing.. Because it suits their agenda.. (Bit Deep for this time in the AM ) Ive had a look on Google Earth to try and work out the best camping spot etc and areas that are good for diving etc.. gonna be a suck it and see mission . I would leave from Dampier and hopefully the weather window stays open to get out and back. Really looking forward to it to be honest . If you have any tips mate please message me ..save the illuminati getting all hot and bothered ;)
Yes, we did. And have done another trip since, at the same time of year, also with some large mats of weed around. This is apparently the time of year when the sargassum weed flowers, and forms these dense aggregations . We were out there late May this year, planning on spending two weeks aboard, when we saw that big low that was coming in,affecting all of the central Pilbara coast right down to Exmouth, and had to bolt for home.
That place looks awesome.. Nice video!!
Awesome!

@@ralphblundell9479 hey Ralph awesome footage and great work!!! Is that Champagne Bay you guys camped at...….???
did you guys encounter much floating seaweed on your fishing trip?

nice vid mate, what island you camped on
Home lagoon. Towards the bottom end of the fishing zone. South side of that island is the north boundary of the sanctuary zone.
