That is a truly beautiful coupe Darren. It shows the amazing skills that you and Howard possess. The blue really suits the coke bottle shape nicely. Love your choice of interior and the seat inserts.
What a great XB Coupe. Love that paint colour and the interior with cloth inserts. Learned something about McLeod! The wonderful thing about our own projects is we get to build them exactly how we want them. 100% agree on no sunroof! For me it would be injection all the way, but Darren has it how Darren wants it, and that's how it should be.
Gday guys, lovely car Darren, well executed, that blue with the white interior looks great. Please don't take this the wrong way Howard, the hood lining is under the bonnet, the headlining is in the car. Just goes to show how well both yourself and Darren's work has stood the test of time, that car will look good for years to come, take care cheers
Great Car. Thanks for emphasizing it's Darren's car so he can do what he wants. I've always been drawn to the pastel's and light coloured trims. Always looks special. Great show as always Howard
Must be awesome to go back and look how your work has progressed through time and look at all the things that you learnt and still apply today. Awesome car.
Brilliant. Love that Blue. Same thing with my sister's rear glass. A professional glass fitter & helper had about 3 goes at it. Then Corrado that rebuilt car helped them. With a couple of tricks that he learnt.
Sweet car! Ever since I was about 16, have always wanted a Coupe.. They were either too dear, at 16 yr old, or too rusted, or I didn't chase hard enough. And now definitely too dear. I had to laugh at the crocheted rug on the passenger seat. I think I have a near identical one on the back seat of my XA GS sedan 🙂
i place 5mm plates inside the A-Pillars with ajustment of my HQ for the electric windows and weight .. As they tend to sage as well , Original Holden fits a 1mm plate on the outside of the A-Pillar for electric windows which i believe there not stronger enough ..
Hey Howard i have a 76 xb gs ute done 50,000km from new, dont they have the same doors as the coupe, just one day i opened the passenger door and it woulnt shut.It would shut on first clink but woulnt completely shut ,i took to a few guys[paint and panel]with no luck, what you saying about taking the front guard off,i thought that adjustment might do the trick, have you any sugestions
Use a screwdriver to close the jaws on the door catch to see if it will close onto the second catch. If it does, lift the outside handle and release the catch. Then adjust the striker out so that the door catches on second catch. Check the distance to get the door level with quarter panel and move sticker to get the desired setting.
I'd love to do an XA sedan one day, as I just reckon they have the best cokebottle styling from the factory and they kind of lost it on the Bs and Cs. Coupes are cool too, but they're just too done. I like a red interior, especially with a black paintjob..
I don't understand the EFI issue. Autronic has no issues to be expected. The founders from Motec anyway. The build described for EFI could not be more simple. It's not a criticism just very surprising to hear. We are spoilt with EFI genius in this country and home arguably the best ECU manufacturers in the world.
True Mark. A lot of the issues were to do with adapting the mechanical injection to electronic and the sticking throttle shafts and butterfly clearances etc. The engine will be going into another project and will get sorted.

Love the job on the car. Agree with Howard re sunroof - hate em!
I don’t really hate them, just wouldn’t put one in a good roof.
True dat, can be hard to find some later models without sunroof but I always make the effort.
Gotta love a coupe but one done well is awesome, Cheers 4 sharing sir.
Thanks Tex

There is a lot of Hood lining products for sale on google that are for the inside of the car, I guess it depends on what Hood you grew up in.

XA GS sedan are not exactly common or cheap. As good a alternative to a coupe in my opinion. Love the Torino design cues in our Australian Falcons.

Thanks, we’re trying new things all the time
Superb taste in cars Darren. Howard, your take on car covers please.
Yeah good idea if they are soft and can breath
I’d love to see some door adjustment tips boys
