I actually have this model in the box, as it just arrived the other day. I've been delaying setting it up due to fear that it'll take a few hours, but this gave me the confidence I needed to start it up 2 days from now!

It's a simple setup. The most time consuming part is leveling the bed.

I don’t normally watch unboxing or setup videos for anything but since I have absolutely no experience with 3D printing, I decided to look for a video to save myself some cursing. I am glad I did. I love everything about your video. I have maybe subscribed to 10 channels over the last decade but I subscribed to your channel because I quite enjoyed your humble approach. You clearly possess a lot of knowledge about computers and making but didn’t feel the need to go on about things that weren’t relevant. I would like to see other videos related to upgrading the Mega S. Well done. Thank you.
Oh I also appreciated your promoting other channels who have helped you.

Just got this printer from a friend. They had taken it out of the box but never used it. Your step by step helped me big time putting it together. Noticed I missed one or two wires to plug in and properly load the filament 😂 ty.

I just bought this printer as a Christmas gift and set it up this morning. Very easy set up, and like many others, the levelling is the hardest part but I'm impressed with the build quality and print quality on the owls. our cable was also tied, but we had no problems levelling the bed with it tied to the post. Worked great without clipping it. And yeah, it's noisy, but most of them are and the other ones I have looked at in videos were all worse than this one. Gotta say, it's a solid buy, especially for a beginning unit.
Also, don't bother with the included filament. I'm not sure what type it is, but the extruder would not melt it at 230. As soon as we used the spool we bought for it, immediately printed like it was born to do it. Thanks for the vid!

Hi there. I just wanted to express my appreciation on you putting out this video. Where 3d printing is new to us, it was ultra confusing on setting this up. Your video helped me and my husband set this up.

This is my first 3D printer, and also my first experience with 3D printing in general, and your video helped me figure out that all of the parts that weren’t mentioned in the directions were replacement parts. I was so worried that I was going to wreck it somehow, but it’s printing the test models as I type, and it’s coming out great. Thanks a lot for this upload- and since it’s a year after you did, I’ll mention that the problem you stated with the cables being zip tied to the elevation screw seems to have been dealt with, as mine wasn’t. Or I’m just really lucky. Anyway, thanks again-

  • @anime_reference
    @anime_reference 2 года назад +4

I know this is an older video but you should know that the bed cable is ziptied like that because otherwise the movement of the bed will eventually wear out the solder joints where the wire connects underneath. Tying the cable to one of the corner screws relocates the repetitive stress. Yours may have been cinched too tight at the factory.
I would advise replacing the ziptie (obviously not so tight) or finding some other way to anchor the cable to the bed carriage, before you wear out the solder joints. You do NOT want to have to resolder those; the bed is a giant heatsink.
All in all you picked a really good starter machine and made a good video about it. I've had an i3 Mega (near-identical predecessor to the Mega S) since 2018 and my only complaint is noise.

Thank you for showing me what to watch out for, I will make sure nothing is in the way of any moving parts.

Thanks for the video, I encountered a couple issues in setting mine up, and that caused me to find your video. My issue was that the z sensor on the left wide was actually bent so it didn't stop on the bottom correctly, your debugging helped me figure mine out, and I had the same issue with leveling and the zip tie. Also your demo of the leveling process was much more clear than the instructions. I'm running my first test print now. Thanks!

My Anycubic M arrived today and I was confused by a couple of the instructions being kinda not-quite-English (plus a missing "red" connector… until I eventually found that attached to and buried under an underside channel!) but getting a few ideas from seeing how you'd set your S up guided me with my M and all is good.
It's printing the Owls as I type 👍

i used your video to help assemble mine. two problems, SD card was not formatted properly, took me an hour to figure that our and resolve...as i had no hint. 2. after having calibrated the base properly...yes, very sure, took me 40 minutes, the unit still scratched the base on first print. The end product is not smooth. Overall, it's junk or this was my experience.

Thank you for this video. It was perfect for me because I really struggle with written instructions that use static images. I nearly had the same issue as you with the cable stopping the head from coming down, but I removed it just in time! I also avoided the other cable issue by removing the cable tie in advance. Maybe that's why the nice side cutters were included. ;)

Hi, I found your video very helpful and it guided me past my first issue. This printer is brand new, never used. I would manually set my temp to 230 degrees, then filament in, then start my print but every time I do that my EO temp drops back down to 190 degrees (factory settings I guess) and stops shooting out filament as it starts to print. Any clue how to fix this issue?
