    Mate,
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing this story. Life can be, quite challenging many times - for anyone, no matter who you are or what you do. Mental health is a huge thing to take care of, and in all of the madness it can be hard to prioritize these days. I empathize with you significantly on all of the RUclips fronts... it's the same over here as well. The story of needing to re-shoot gave me heartburn, I know that exact feeling. I'm glad you're taking a break.
To all of you out there - it's important to keep working on you. Just as your steam loco needs a boiler wash, your car needs an oil change, your brain needs maintenance too. And for the men in the room, there's no shame in sharing these feelings and vulnerabilities - I know at least on this side of the pond, culture says you need to be an impenetrable fortress of manliness; but that's really not ideal, nor is it healthy. I go to therapy weekly to work on my mental health - and would advocate it for everyone.
Cheers again Lawrie, and remember everyone - there's always someone who will listen, and loves and cares about you.

Mark, the work that you and Lawrie do on here is so great I'm glad yall are are taking care of yourselves and thank you for being open about it. Its difficult to overcome the cultural pressure to just bottle up all the stress and die of a heart attack at 57. Even if on the surface of culture that seems to be changing some, I feel like so many of us just have that inclination so internalized that we feel like thats still what you"should" do. It seems like this world gets harder to live in every year - pressures on time, work, money, healthcare, housing, social isolation, weather disasters, and more, and feeling comfortable admitting that these things affect a person and feeling normal about trying to get help is something that we all deserve.
In the past couple of years both of your channels are something I have turned to for peace and enjoyment in good times and difficult times. There have been many days or weeks where I did didn't have time to take more than an hour or so for myself, and watching some of the things you have made has been the thing I needed to get over the hump. Thank you so much to you both, - Harry

I know your feeling Lawrie. At the moment my job in the Royal navy medical is not at its best. Im a lone medic regenerating a ships medical department all on my own. Normally its a 2-3 person job but we can't get the medics. Like you I feel very lonely in my job and have a fear of failure due to the immense work load. Almost daily i reach a point where I'm ready to burst into tears from the stress and anxiety I feel. Luckily I know the signs and symptoms being a medic so I've got help from the Doctors in base. For those with mental health, please don't suffer alone. your much stronger to admit you need help than to suffer in silence

That was incredibly brave Lawrie. As someonewho has spent thirty years in seaech and rescue picking up the pieces on the dark side of this my only wish is that people talked more. Things are never as dark when someone lights a candle in the room . That candle can be as simple as "are you ok?"

I Identify with a lot of what you say and am currently not working following redundancy, which is a blessing in disguise as i went through covid etc without any time off for years, taking the job to heart too much. Am taking time for myself, doing up my project and things in the house that went neglected due to my work work work period leaving me no time for myself. Hi Lawrie. great you shared how you felt. I too had a crisis when i was about your age. I have never looked back since. today i went to see my god mother who is in dementia in a home. It was great to see her and chat over our past. fortunately she remembered many things and me too. Unfortunately she lost her husband a year ago and now talks to him still. It was worth to us both for me to drive 80 miles for an hour with her. Did not know what day it is but was very relevant.
Really enjoy what you are doing. At 67 i may not be about much longer so i do what ever im asked with railways and buses in my case and seeing all my remaining relatives all 4 of them. Enjoy your holiday.

Greatest respect to you for sharing this. From my own experience and this is an area where there is still some way to go, many, often very well meaning people unfortunately say things that are less than helpful and want to give what they believe to be good advice but is in fact is quite the opposite. A common example being that time heals all wounds or that if a lot of time has passed, since an unpleasant event such as a relationship break up, that it no longer should be an issue. In many cases, this is just not true.

Dealing with mental health is a struggle which takes more bravery than most wish to believe. To the point where waking up in the hope that your luck is going to change becomes draining in its own way.
You'd think after the deaths of Robin Williams, Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, people would be a little more understanding of men suffering in silence. But in many cases, people are still judging those who are too quiet, dress too differently, have niche interests, etc.
Good on you for speaking up about your woes. The ex-gf and reshoot situations hit home with me, too.
I think I currently work anything between 70-90 hours a week on video production for YT at various stages. So I hear you when it comes to burnout. I usually find that it's at its worst when the bills are racking up, so you've got no other choice BUT to keep plodding on and generating as much income as possible; despite knowing that you're burning out.
And for everyone reading these comments and suffering your own problems, there's no shame in sharing or seeking help.
Look after yourselves, one and all.

I've dealt with my mental health most of my life and continue to do so now, got diagnosed conditions which are pretty well controlled but I really admire you for this video. I do advocate to anyone suffering issues that talking really does help, it not only allows you to get it off your chest how you're feeling but allows others to give you different view points that in your irration mindset at the time you won't have thought about. Prescribed medications can help but in my experience talking and talking therapies have done so much more. I've been helped and have helped family and friends just be talking, it's amazing how much you can achieve just by opening your mouth but just as important opening your ears. stay healthy everyone.

Thank you so much. My partner of almost 25 years passed away just over a year ago. For that entire time we spent almost all of our time working and living together and for her last few years I was her sole carer. I really wouldn't have made it through without my friends. The thing is it can be very hard to ask for help, you get so down that it's just too much effort. If you know someone in a bad situation then reach out to them, they really do want to hear from you, it's just they don't have the strength left ta ask. We all need help sometimes.

That man (or woman) who’s the life and soul of the party you see at work, or friend, or family, can be out of the limelight breaking their heart at home behind closed doors.
We all put up a public face to hide the pain of life… mental health can and will affect us all at some point in life so if you feel things are not right, find help and talk with a friend, family member or help through your GP.
Don’t feel embarrassed or feel ashamed, there’s nothing to be ashamed off as mental health issues are… health issues.

Mental health is such a serious thing. I've seen first hand where it can go with someone ending up in hospital. People need to talk more and one way to help that is rather than replying with I'm fine, I'm OK is to asking people to answer in a %. Very rare people will be 100%. If somone says they are 70% it's easier to get them to explain why, what would help them raise it to 80-90%. It gets people talking. Take as much time as you need. As I've said before, end of the day you need to look after number one, everyone needs to put themselves first time to time and look after yourself.

It's more difficult now to know what your place in society is, what your thing is that makes you what you are. Before you were a postman and that was your identity along with the family you had, your hobbies and you found your confidence in routines and chores. Now a man can be many things and not really know all the time what his thing is.
You have many great things to film but you don't have to be everywhere and about. Concentrate on fewer things and have the confidence to know people wants to watch what your doing. You are not the only youtuber, artist struggling. Heard others say the same thing about stress.
As far as I know you're the #1 british train youtuber and have a great thing going.

I got relentlessly bullied for years for uhm being gay. I know that its not a popular way to be when you live in the irish countryside and have a love for vintage machinery but that's what and who i am.
