Had one since day one. It is a few years old now. I use it for PA, plus electric guitar through a Digitech RP55, programmed to taste. I am a solo artist now. Sick of groups! It rocks. Never has let me down. Tough as old boots. Should have a master volume however. But I love it! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes! Man, I have sturggled with the lack of a master volume when feeding it back in to record and stream. Would be so simple and make such a difference, but just means I need some sort of mixer in between, or to twiddle the knobs!

Hi Pete, looks like a nice piece of kit there! I've had the original Micro cube for the best part of twenty years ..and i still love it. I've yet to be let down by a Roland/Boss item.

Very nice little amp/PA! You’ll have to update us on battery life once you’ve used it a bit. Kinda surprised it only uses AA instead of C or D. Have to think those could run down quick, especially at the full 50 watt mode, but maybe it will surprise us. Would definitely be cool to utilize those onboard FX for recording in the studio as an additional benefit! 👍😎
Totally. Yeah on the eco mode it seems to be lasting really well. But the dealy test will indeed be when I crank the 50 watts.
This is really cool. I’m at the stage where I wud like to pick up an amp in the next little while. This one might be a bit out of price range ( Cdn prices similar to u in Aus unfortunately lol), but u never know. Being a newbie to guitar, this vid helps to show what kind of features I might like/need. Could you/would you plug an electric into this? Thanks for this. I was there for the happy hour too and I know this worked very well. Cheers!
Yes depending what features you need, you could consider the Cube Street instead which is a little lighter on the wallet.
Been using one of these for a few years for my Roland accordions. Plenty loud enough, sounds great. Can even plug my mates digital bagpipes in and still sounds great. Also you can purchase extra battery holders so you just have to pop the battery compartment out and just insert a new one. Only thing I don’t like is the connection for the transformer, it’s not a standard connection which makes it harder to use a recharagble power pack rather than the batteries
Yeah right! Didn’t know about the extra battery pack. Will have to invest in one. And yes, a more standard power connection would be very handy!

I power mine with a 30000 mah battery bank, using a bird cord from songbird fx, it takes 5v usb to 12v dc. I can use the the cube ex at full power with no limits to power suck. I run a iOS positive grid rig using the xtone from xsonic as my interface. I use my Yamaha thr10 as a L channel monitor, awesome fun stereo fx. Check out bird cords from songbird fx, I power all my multifx units like my mooer ge250, thr10 , tc helicon voice perform vk voice processor, and my cube using these great cords that turns all my gear into mobile portable devices.

Thanks for your comment. I've looked up the Birdcord. Do you need the 6mm adaptor plug as well. Also being that the peak current for that cord is 750mA, is that enough for the Street ex.? Cheers

I don’t believe so sorry. No “power out” functionality that I have found.
I had the Roland Ba-330 but the sound kept ducking when I sang through it so I got the Bose S1 pro instead and I have been really pleased with it.

I agree, the Bose S1 is super! I’ve had so many acoustic guitar pa speakers, amps, I have lost count. The S1 has been my favorite of all.

Yeah I used it today on my Happy Hour and it went well even on Eco mode. In 50 watt mode and especially if you had it in a speaker stand, I think you’d get some great sound.
Hey mate, I’ve got this! It’s ace. Can you use this to route through the audio interface and use as a mixer to play live streams??
Yup. That’s what I’ll be doing on the Happy Hour today and just did a couple o TB sound checks you can hear on the channel. It has a balanced stereo TRS output that can go straight in to the Steinberg UR22C to stream or record. It’s gold!!

Hi Pete, Thank you for your video!! I got myself a second hand unit of the street ex, and im getting this hiss noise from the mic input when im actually singing. Does that happens with yours?
I haven’t noticed any hiss except at very high volume. What mix are you using? A decent dynamic mic can make a big difference.

Does it have a line out to connect to another cube street or powered speakers and hear both like the Bose S1-Pro has?
Yup. Stereo line out via TRS that works really well.
Great video!! Is it possible to run a pedalboard through the amp? I play electric guitar and have a pedalboard with 5 different pedals wired through a Harley Benton powerplant.
Yup. The Cube has a stereo line input as well as mic and guitar inputs so really flexible.

BA-330 old technology and bulky! Buy two S1-Pro Bose and you have great portable PA!
Another possibly better alternative is the AER Compact 60 mobile. It's more expensive but, in my opinion, has a better and more powerful (louder) sound. The AER can also be powered by an outboard 12-volt battery. Very useful if one has to play for a long time between being able to recharge the amps internal battery. I've had mine for near on 15 years and the only time it broke was when I dropped it. As to maintenance one only needs to change the battery every few years when it begins to run down too fast.

@@lucas_fpro Since I don't play piano I can't say for sure but being as I use the AER for backing tracks featuring many instruments along with my electric guitar vocals and harmonica I would venture to guess that it would work fine and sound better than all the other battery-powered portable amps available. I highly recommend it if you can afford it. It is expensive compared to most all other street amps but to get quality one must pay the price. The only disadvantage is that it's bigger and heavier than most and if one packs a big 60AH camper battery to power it for a week at a stretch it's another 15 kilos of weight. Maybe the newer Lithium-ion batters are lighter but those too are quite expensive. I've long since passed the point where additional weight makes a difference to my rig. It weighs over 100 kilos with the big battery packed on my two-wheeled cart but I can play for several days without recharging. if one can recharge daily and only play for 3 or 4 hours at reasonable volume levels the internal battery is sufficient. I play at high volume many hours a day and live in my camper as I busk and travel from town to town so daily charging from mains is impossible.

@@lucas_fpro Be advised. When I play at my usual medium volume level I only get about 3 to 3 1/2 hours or so of playtime before the internal battery runs flat so if you play long and loud you will need to use an external battery. There is a special connector that attaches the external battery to a 12-volt input on the back of the amp. It is not a normal plug. You may have to hunt around to find one. I suppose a good electronics store will have one but probably not at your normal music store. I believe Sony or perhaps Fender makes interesting battery-operated PA setups using a tall thin vertical column speaker. A friend of mine uses one. It might be worth a look. If size and transport are a factor, the AER may be a more compact unit. It easily fits on a hand trolly but you wouldn't want to carry it by hand very far. Good luck and happy pitches. May your case be filled with coin of the realm, your heart be happy and the sun always shine on your stage. (not always possible).

Hi I use mine to play Rav vast tongue drums very acoustic with reverb sounds mystical. Problem is I plug into the 2nd input which I get nice reverb but when I plug into the 2nd input on the left side to plug in a 2nd rav drum I do not get as nice of reverb ?? what am I doing wrong?, Thanks
Hey there. So, there are separate settings for the effects for both channel. If you don’t have thE effects you need on the other channel you might need to consider an effects units or run it through an iPhone or iPad to add effects.
How long the batteries last? Im looking to street preform for an hour at least. Are those batteries enough? Thanks

Can you use a wireless mic with some wireless system receiver with this amp? I know you can use a wired mic and make it wireless with a system but I’m wondering about the possibility of a wireless mic with a system you can use with the amp, and one that doesn’t involve plugging the system into the mains to do so, a complete wireless connector system for a wireless mic? :)
Hey there. If you’re using a battery powered wireless mic and receiver you’ll be golden. Obviously if the receiver is mains powered… less so! You’ll need a receiver that can connect to an XLR, TRS or stereo TRS input.

Yup. It has stereo TRS line in so anything that send stereo audio out via 1/4” cables will work. The possibilities!!

Ok stupid question , but how can I use an ear monitor with this unit? If I’m playing at parties I like having that direct feedback into my ear without having to use a wedge .. the phones jack on this is strictly for playing silent and cuts off the external sound
Ooh…. Yeah good point. I guess you would need to use some sort of headphone amp or interface and send the line output through this. I’ve done similarly when live streaming to send the stereo out to an interface on a PC for steaming, so you could use the same setup for a headphone amp?

Hey there. Yes it comes with an AC/DC adapter. Or you could use DC if you have the right voltage and amperage.

There’s really only inputs for one microphone. You’d need to used something like a second mixer or interface that could combine and output.

I use an old Crate Taxi 50 watt amp that is powered by a lead-acid battery that's about the size of a motorcycle battery. It's heavy but it really delivers the power. I'm at a loss to understand how this unit could possibly deliver 50 watts of power from eight measly AA batteries. Also: you'll go broke buying ordinary disposable alkalines. Does this unit work with rechargeable NiMH batteries (which produce 1.2 volts each rather than the 1.5 volts of non-rechargeables)?
Hey there. There’s an AC adapter as well for this, and you can also use a portable battery and a cable to deliver the DC power needed. Not sure about Nimh but wouldn’t think so as it does need 12 volts of DC. I run it on eco mode mostly anywho so never push it hard at 50 watts.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks. I appreciate the answer, but am still at a loss. The whole point of a battery-operated amp is to not need AC power, so the AC adapter is not useful. The ability to power it with an external battery could be useful - but it would suck to have to carry that battery around separately and plug it in and such. Can't believe that nobody makes a unit quite like my old Crate Taxi. I think I'll stick with that.
Is there any hope of this being with RE-CHARGEABLE BATTERIES???: How can we simply plug this in at night and it is charged by morning? Is there an accessory that can be matched with this for RECHARGABLE purposes. I just HATE buying batteries all the time

There’s only one channel with the amp sim, but you could technically use both inputs for 1/4” as they are both combo jacks.

Warning: Before purchasing this: Check the Video about the actual Quality of the Internal Speakers = they Suck and are Under-Powered.

Roland will NOT sell you replacement parts should something go wrong. you have to go to their authorised techs to order parts and fix it. Buy something else, i don't know what but don't give your money to a company that doesn't care about you after they have your money.

@@PeteJohnsMusic Yeh man thats the issue, the product is great and for its price and you'd need to spend a lot more money for something else worth the purchase, but the business practices of Roland are terrible and people should factor in that if something goes wrong with it, its "designed to be replaced not repaired" (in the words of their own authorised service tech)
