Remember when NYC Mayor Adams held a press conference claiming to be fixing the rodent problem in New York? He performed this whole song n dance claiming that his office and Sanitation were implementing new and stricter garbage disposal rules. WELL THAT WAS BS…! When a reporter asked him during a press conference about WHY NEW YORK SMELLS SO BAD, and he took it upon himself to lie and speak for the entire state and say “ i dont know which new york youre smelling but the only thing we smell in NYC is weed”……..I was screaming at the tv, YOU LIAR! Stop trying to downplay the problem- especially if you have no real interest in fixing it. This video represents an ongoing and persistent problem and perhaps corruption at state/ local agency levels. In NY you can only file an agency / city complaint thru its call center called 311….You are NOT allowed to actually speak to the mayor or sanitation. All issues are funneled thru this ineffective call service ( where they trace your number - despite you trying to block it). You open up a complaint, they give you a complaint number and you wait to see if a city agent comes out to inspect the property. The issue is they NEVER come out!!! They say they do BUT DONT).. Property owners are NOT supposed to put garbage outside unless its hours before a pickup. That video was captured Friday afternoon….THE NEXT PICKUP IS MONDAY MORNING!!! Landlords/ superintendents know the rules but instead of abiding by the law, theyre illegally placing garbage on the side or back of the buildings - where its not visible from the sidewalk… And its alledged that many SOME landlords have an improper relationship with city agencies. Therefore, they are tipped off on WHO’s filing the complaint. Sanitation QUICKLY closed the complaint and i doubt if they even came out! CLEARLY, theres plenty of violations! Theres no garbage bins! Theres fruit n Vegetables improperly stored. its just left out for rodents to feast on. And you see how within MINUTES that service request/ complaint number cant be found… this was all within the last 14 hours! Even though they say it takes up to 10 days for an inspector to visit the property. Chile, tha ghetto!
