The significant advantage of monoblocks apart from isolation, independent supplies and crosstalk, is you can locate them much closer to your speakers which means shorter cabling which means you can use more expensive cables than you otherwise wouldn't.
I have been enjoying my pair of B200's with my Pre90 preamp; they sound so clean and clear. There's no background noise at all. They have a super dark background. Everything comes through sharper with more definition and clarity. Everything is more in focus, and it's very neutral - nothing is emphasized. So, the speakers and preamp you use will have a big influence on the sound. The B200's, in a sense, get out of the way of the music and let the recording and mastering shine through. So, if you play a poor recording, it's not going to sugarcoat it. But if you play something that is a decent recording that was mastered well, you are in for a treat! I highly recommend these to anyone who wants crazy clean power to their speakers!
Have had these for about 1 month now and the B200 has many good qualities in terms of sound but lacks some energy. Never get the feeling that I have the artists present when I turn up the volume. These are more analytical. A shame as there are a lot of good things about them. I strongly doubt that these hold 200w in 8 ohms, it doesn't sound like that.
I have very sensitive (>95dB) open baffles that can be driven even with a 2.5W tube amp. I really fancy getting a pair of these, but am wondering if they would be too powerful and leave me with a very limited range on my preamp volume control. Would using the lower gain help, do you think? BTW, Srboljub at iiWi reviews on RUclips very much agrees with you and also plans to use them for reference purposes in his main system.
I would love to A/B these with a single Crown XLi 800 power amp which puts out 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The Crown doesn't measure as well, but only costs $349. I wonder if you can actually hear a difference. I have no idea.
12v trigger input is used with devices with 12v trigger outputs. Commonly a preamp. This allows the preamp to place the amplifier into standby when the preamp is shut off. Sometimes, an amp in standby will have a small amount of idle power running through it (a few watts if draw? keeping the circuit warmed up. Largely, it’s a convenience but in certain cases, it will also shorten warm up time, ensuring optimal performance of the amp. With AB amps at least, the idle power might reduce the stress on the amp when powered on also. Lots of inrush can be hard on the relays, shortening their lifespan. The issue with big class A and AB amps, aside from heat is their idle draw when fully powered on can be quite high, several hundred watts.
Ive become less inclined to buy any higher priced electrical items from Chinese manufacturers, it may seem you get vfm but once things go wrong then your pretty much on your own trying to get it repaied, even under warranty unless you have a good dealer network in your country
These hit a good price point for those wanting amps around $1k to $1500. But those small power supplies leave me thinking current drive will not be good for all types of speakers. Instead I would suggest a Thomas & Stereo A75 amp at $1500 (USD), a Benchmark AHB2 at $3500 (USD), or maybe even an Orchard Audio Starkrimson Duo at $1800 (USD). Yes, they cost more but I think you get more amp for the money.
How can an amplifier have the same watts under different loads, its obvious looking at the numbers that the power supply is total junk and amp would lack any sort of grunt at difficult loads and frequencies
Exactly what I'm thinking! Given how popular WiiM have become, they have basically isolated the fastest growing brand. I was actually just about to pull the trigger on these when I noticed this comment so thanks 😊. I'll stick to my Fosi Audio V3 monos.
I think most people using these will have a dedicated balanced PRE and/or DAC XLR output (I choose to not have a Pre at all). So Topping rather invests in supporting a balanced input rather than spending more in development (and ultimately in cost to the consumer) in supporting RCA additionally. Maybe the simplified signal treatment of not offering the choise is also accousticlaly better also? I am sure they have done their market analysis and have drawn their conclusion that RCA is not worth investing in supporting; I somehow doubt they are 'idiots' deliberately designing a product that has a needlessly limited audience. I am balanced throughout and these are magical amps. If your DAC or Pre is only RCA-out then I'd recommend upgrading it to XLR and buying these!
@@rmpott Maybe they have. I agree that most dedicated DACs have XLR outputs. However, I'm guessing that Topping had these in the works before finding out about the WiiM Ultra. The biggest selling DAC products of last year will have by far and away been the WiiM Ultra and the WiiM Amps. None of which have XLR outputs. So Topping have absolutely shot themselves in the foot with this.

I recommend trying the B200s with their own Pre 90 preamp.

That is a great description of how they sound.

Thanks, I don´t really like the gold feet. Can you remove (unscrew) and replace these? 😊
Well I have already sent these back. Sorry
Ok 😊

That Crown amp is definitely a good value for the money.
We appreciate it, thank you so much!😊
Any time!
I don’t understand multiple inputs - can they all be connected simultaneously but have no way of controlling which one is playing?
hi, may I know what's the 12V trigger for? how it works?

Just think of bi-amping b200 with b100's on the upper.
I secretly want two of them ……
Right now 😂

why did they not provide an RCA input...what an idiot design
I wondered the same exact thing
