Blueberry Mountain Day Hike | Hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire

- Went up and hiked Blueberry Mountain this weekend. Decided to go in from the North Trailhead off of Page Rd in Warren NH. The trail is about 2.5 miles to the summit and follows an old forest service road for about the 1st mile. Once the trail enters the woods its actually a pretty gradual elevation climb the whole way. Plenty of water along the trail on our journey but not sure if that just do to recent rains / fairly recent snow melt. Either way an enjoyable hike. Make sure to check out the ledges past the summit!

Please note that I am not recommending any of the gear seen in any of my videos. The gear I use is what I have found works best for me at the time period I am using it. I have come to these gear choices through vast levels of trial, error, and experimenting with gear out on trail.
Gear, clothing, footwear, etc. are not one style works for all. Do as much research as you can, try out things in person if able, and make the best informed purchase decision for YOU. Do not buy gear just because it worked for, was showcased by, or recommended by someone on RUclips

Dec 2020 - I have been leaving trail and summit names out of many of my most recent videos due to issues with what I would consider uneducated hiker behavior. The most notable of which is trash, and human waste / toilet paper I have been finding directly off trail.
If you are using this video for planning purposes and/or are a newer hiker please watch this video before heading out on trail: ruclips.net/video/dhd7E4rGIwA/видео.html
Here is an article about the issue with trash and human waste specifically in the Whites www.nhpr.org/post/trouble-trails-forest-service-grapples-crowds-trash-and-human-waste#stream/0

I love that mountain, I've climbed it eight times. That camp that's on the mountain is actually where I work. So I've hiked it as a camper and worker. ❤😊
Thanks Chris the video quality was very good. Thanks
Nice views and love how u just lol bout the rain and hell lol
With all the downpours I walked through on the AT the rain has become my comedic enemy. Like I hate hiking in it. Despise it. But its always around just like "HEY WHATS UP ENJOY THIS MOISTURE!" All part of the fun!
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors lol ya the AT will do that to u I'm in Virginia all it does is rain at least once a day lol
Happens very much so in New England too haha pretty sure it rained literally all April this year
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors You haven't lived until you didn't realize how fast those gorgeous clouds over in VT would be hurling thunder and lightning as run down into the trees off Moosilauke.
Another great video Chris! Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate you watching David!
Beautiful place Chris!! As always your camera shots are awesome 😊👍👍🏞️!!
Thanks Deb!
Always loved this hike although the views aren't what they used to be when I was a kid, the trees have really grown up! Nice edit Chris 👌
Thanks man I really liked this hike. Like nobody around the whole time. Legit never saw another person
I actually work at the summer camp on the mountain. I work during the kid's week and go camping during the teen week. I've hiked that mountain probably more than ten times❤
This is the good stuff
Thanks Richard!
Adding this hike to the list 👍🏻
Its a good one! Also on the New Hampshire 52 wav list if you are into that type of thing
Another excellent video, Chris! It's cool seeing the less-visited peaks in the whites like this one. Please keep sharing! Been watching along since the OG white mountain hikes before your thru hike! Trek on, man 😁⛰
I thoroughly enjoy the 52 list. They are significantly less crowded than the 48. Like we literally did not see anyone else this entire day. Appreciate you watching from the moderately awkward gopro days! haha
Liked "because social media is pretty lame"
It's a great little hike. The trailhead from the other side is a fun hike. Although it has been logged and I haven't done that side since. You need to do Sugarloaf when you get a chance. Newly reopened and quite little interesting climb, ropes and ladder.
Jim, which sugarloaf? the one I pointed at in the video? I think I have done a bunch of the other sugarloafs. I feel like there is 12 of them in New Hampshire haha
Your tag - line gets me everytime "Social media is kinda lame". Keep up the the great (not kinda lame) videos!
haha thanks John!
Chris, love your channel. I've learn a great deal from you videos. Really appreciate the time and effort it takes to produce these videos. Take care and have a great hiking season.
You too! Big things to come!
Great day hike. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Ken!
Loved this video and the hike looked a good one especially with clear views of Mt Moousilake!! 😎👍🏻I’m assuming in season there would be plenty of blueberries 😋on the trail - perhaps a repeat is in order next month? 😉
Blueberry bushes all over the place around the top. Nothing really growing on them at all. Should be good in a month or so for sure. Will have to bring a ziploc haha
Any good blueberries?
Not a single one haha. The ledges area is literally covered in bushes though. Should be good in a month or so I reckon
Liked your music with this video and the time lapses.
Thanks Lisa!
Hiked this one today in the mist. Not a bad trail, but the car wash was in full swing with those small shrubs. Looks like I inadvertently found the true summit in the fog!
haha its a pretty decent view. Sucks its was all foggy but such is life in them mountains
Flashback of your AT thru pointing to Mount Moosilauke during this trek. 🤔 I am kind of obsessed with the 4Ks right now, but Mount Blueberry looks like a really nice trek! I am finally getting a Gimbal! I am totally behind the times with my vid quality...but never knew I would even be on YT...such a crazy move...but if you have friends and family nagging to see what you do...well...I guess showing them is the only way most of them will ever experience it. I love your vids...and thanks for continuing to drop those awesome vids after your AT thru...well worth the views! Happy trails to you and your lady! 🌺
Moosiluake on the AT was interesting. Something like just shy of 4000 ft of elevation up it. I remember I thought Big Mama was gonna puke. She stopped at some point before hand saying such haha. I went up to check out the South Peak and didnt think she was going to come up it. I remember I was mid video and I saw her pop up behind me haha. We proceeded over the top and on to the shelter and got an absolute monsoon of rain once situated there. I slept on the right side of the shelter. It was patched with duct tape..... that was a mistake. Suffice to say everyone in the shelter got a little bit closer that night cuz we had to move tight together. I remember things from the trail absurdly well.
Keep the videos rolling, hope the gimbal works out for you. I have bought two of them but they are just annoying as all hell to me. The smart phone ones seem so much more manageable
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors It's interesting, you start with different people, then end with different people...but Big Mama was fun! You guys clicked and I liked the post Q&A too! It's also nice to have a supportive girlfriend, I am sure. 👍🏻🌺
What camera are you shooting this on? Looks great!
a copy paste from another comment but Links are all in the description. This video was shot on a Panasonic GH5 and a Viltrox EF-M2 / Sigma 18-35 f1.8
My camera gear has come a pretty long way. I started with a gopro, then went to the Sony rx100 series, then the pansonic g7, g85, and now the GH5 as I have learned more and more. If you search my channel I believe I've done 3 camera gear videos over the times as its changed. This adapter and lens setup is new to me as of last week. The results from it combined with the GH5 are unreal.
New camera looks nice.
This is actually back to the Panasonic GH5 I had been using previously but using a new lens / lens adapter. The setup is the Viltrox EF-M2 and the Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Its widely regarded as one of the nicest combos to use with the GH5. I picked it up last week and after filming this I can see why. The results are incredible. The lens is HEAVY though. The lens and adapter alone I believe is over 2lbs. I still have the sony a7iii around but man with this setup I don't know if I am going to need it anymore haha
Chris: this video is one of my absolute FAVS!! You have really reached a NEW plateau ( no pun intended!) in your artistry!! The nature shots are beautiful!! Especially like the meadow shot of the butterfly 🦋 taking off!! I’m serious that the combo music and still shots mixed with moving video is awesome!! Having been with you since the “ announcement “ video of you doing the AT... you have really become a real genius!!! Walk on!!!!!
The butterfly shot was arguably more luck than skill but I appreciate it nevertheless haha
WOW!!!! I loved your time lapse rain storm! Beautiful! Thanks for this, we haven't done Blueberry from this side yet.
It was a really nice walk up. We moved really quickly all things considered. Was pumped about the time lapse. I just thought it was super cool haha thanks for watching Beckie!
Awesome vid as always Chris. Camera quality is seriously unreal.
A few days ago I made the trek up to Cabot and "got that one out of the way" lol. Although there was a decent little lookout on my out and back up the kilkenny ridge/mt. Cabot trail. Avoided the longer loop due to t storms in the forecast that never happened (of course) haha. As a Mass native also, I'm sure you can understand that driving up there and back in the same day wasn't the funnest thing ever lol.
Sorry for the random rant, just dropping in to say this is another great vid and keep it up! Great inspiration for my hiking vids I'm trying to start putting out as well.
Thanks Soup, Messing around with a new lens / adapter combo and the results really speak for themselves. Thing is heavy as hell compared to all the other setups I used but MAN does it look good.
I actually did a loop for cabot and picked up the little mountains (or hills) that are on the 52 with a view list. I think it was the horn and the bulge? I cant recall haha but it was enjoyable. I actually camped out in my car that night and did waumbek in the rain and fog the next day. Two birds with one stone!
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors yup! That's we way to do it. I watched your vid on it as well
We stayed over in the Cabin to avoid having to drive back to the Great City of Lawrence the same day. We were the only ones there and it rained the whole night. Fun.
It looked like the hand of God when you were pointing out the mountains. : ) Really enjoyed this video. It had a nice mellow vibe to it with the beautiful scenery and music. Very relaxing to watch after enduring a loooong day at work today. Thanks!
lol it really does! I go for the relaxed vibe to the videos glad it is enjoyable for the daily unwind!
Hey if you dont mind me asking. What kind of camera equipment are you using. Cell phone? Gopro? DSLR? Curious because i like doing this stuff. I normally use gopro but i like ur focus style and camera work.
It's in the description below the vid list all his cam gear

@@mischiefonthetrail8961 Definitely! Chris has very detailed descriptions! 👍🏻🌺
Thanks for the replies. I didn’t look at the description so I’m sorry about that, thank you for responding!
@@templar646 No apology necessary. You asked a great question! 👍🏻🌺
Your woman has radder gear than you! 👊😎
😂😂
(Thought I'd throw that in there so you get all stressed out and blow more money on cutting edge trinkets)
I actually bought the Gossamer Gear Kumo she is wearing for consideration for adventures this summer. Its a TOUCH on the too small side with all the camera stuff I would be bringing so I told her she should try it on as I bet she could fit her whole kit in there. She could.... she did.... and she loved it.... hahaha #whatsmineishers
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors I'm just glad my wife hasn't had interest in hiking because I would have to buy all the gear and purple would be the color requirement... that would be so annoying
😂 she buys most of hers. This one was a special case scenario haha
