- Back from my winter nap and decided I'd start the season off with a quick trip up Black Mountain. Went up the Black Mountain trail as I had previously done the Chippewa trail a few years ago. Very quick hike with great views.

During the pandemic I was leaving trail and summit names out of many of my videos due to issues with massive overcrowding on the trail, as well as, issues in regards to what I would consider uneducated or irresponsible hiker behavior. The most notable of which was trash, and human waste / toilet paper I was finding directly on, or just off, trail. I kept some of the trail and location names in this video. If you are using this video for planning purposes, please use the trail responsibly and try to follow leave no trace principles. It only takes one person not doing so to ruin it for everyone.
If you are a newer hiker please watch this video before heading out on trail: ruclips.net/video/dhd7E4rGIwA/видео.html
Here is an article about the issue with trash and human waste specifically in the Whites www.nhpr.org/post/trouble-trails-forest-service-grapples-crowds-trash-and-human-waste#stream/0

Glad to see you exploring and creating again,Chris. I've always enjoyed your content and this is no exception. Keep on doing what you love doing!
Cheers Chris!
C Breezy.... that's messed up what you did to Rhianna bro....
@@jeremiah1528 man that's in the past, people change. 🤒🤕🤣
Always enjoy these lovely videos of. yours. Thank you
Hell yeah glad to see you back brother
Man I love this hike, the amount of viewpoints on such a short hike, amazing. Great video!
agreed! very impressive views for the effort
so glad to see you, Chris.
Good to see you! How ironic; you were in most of the winter and Short n Slow here actually got Hale and the Hancocks for winter. Love lengthy summit visits! Good for you!
Haha I really wanted to do some winter stuff this season. I've been looking for a reasonably priced subaru for almost a year now. I thought of even buying a beater 4wd suv but people are asking like $5k for like 20 year old 250,000 cars. Painful haha
Welcome back!
2:11-2:20 mark.....
Lol.... that was awesome. Chris is all excited 😁 😆 😄....❤
Ha you always stop at the same Heavenly
All part of the ritual lol

Oh man, Black Mountain is one of my absolute favorites. I've only ever done the Chippewa Trail up there so it's cool to see the scenery from the other way up! So good to see you out on trail again!
was a nice walk up. The little dirt road that goes to the parking area was rutted pretty bad. Definitely thought I was going to smash the bottom of the van haha
i subbed for the out doors but you only did that once :P
perhaps, once again, I shall go out of more doors
Chris, talking about fractures, broke my fibula hiking down from Tin Mountain in Jackson in late March. Trail was sloppy, slippery, wet, snowy, etc. Walked a 1/3 mile on it until we spotted a driveway of a cabin. My hiking partner took my keys, fetched the vehicle, met me at bottom of the driveway and off to memorial hospital we went! I’ll have to enjoy hiking in NH thru your vids a little while longer. Keep at it.
Oh man thats tough, Lucky you were able to get out. Hope your healing up well!
I grew up in North Haverhill and spent many days on the trails over there. Thank you for your video. That mountain is a hidden gem and that in itself is special. I even made a short video hiking that myself.
Really have been enjoying your videos! I’ll be headed to the Whites shortly to start as a backcountry caretaker for the AMC. Looking forward to exploring some of these areas you have been showing us.
Enjoy it up there!
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors thanks. I’ll be at the Nauman Tentsite. If you’re in the neighborhood come say hey.
Heck yea, I was wonderin if id see any springtime videos from you, love your content man! I just did bald mountain in camden on Sunday, was absolutely by far some of the best views ive ever seen
Nice! Im hoping to hit some Maine stuff over the summer. Really want to mess around in the speckled mountain area a bit
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors Go now! The road (113 through Evans Notch) has been open for a couple weeks!
I was thinking about this channel a few days ago, checked, there was nothing new. Glad you're back. I prefer hiking vids over gear 💚
I need to get out. The whites are my backyard, but haven't been out hardly at all this winter. Look me up next time your up. I'd be down for a hike. I have an 09 outback I'll be parting with soon. Be well
I took the same trail as you when I hiked Black Mtn for the first time this past fall. Amazing views from the summit! We missed your videos, glad to see you are posting again :)
Thanks for sharing. And yes...Leave No Trace please! John from MI
I drove a service van all over New England for over thirty years. My company allowed me to use it for personal use too. Every winter I would install aggressive studded snow tires. I am big time ski addict and took said van all over NE chasing pow. The point is tires make a massive difference. Parking lots that are not plowed may be difficult, but the tires were a game changer. Thanks for sharing your hike. I plan on headed up this week with my dog, so I am trying to keep things on the dryer side and this trail looked great. Thanks again for sharing
I came here for the gear videos, but I stayed because watching you hike is soothing and enjoyable. Glad to see you're back on the trails!
Welcome back Chris. I often wondered how you were about to get into the parking lots during the winter months with a van…. :)
I’am glad that you are back in the great white north
Good to see you back on trail, really enjoy your videos. Greetings from Germany!
Glad to be back!
I like your new shirt!
Thanks rachel!
Day hike up cannon in January eended with us pushing the fusion out of the lot twice hahaha I totally get it, I hibernated too!
Glad to see you out and about again. Making the move to NH next week. See you out there!
I like the shirt, brotha!
appreciate the shirt love!
Love the new shirt!
I love the shirt love
Great to see you out ! Hope you stay well my friend.
Thanks Crag! or should I say Artist formally known as Crag haha
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors Lol ! Right ! Enjoy the balance of the week !
!
Always a great vid. thanks
Hey! Nice to see a new video out! Awesome!
I am hoping to do Mt Crawford tomorrow.
ahh edward jones donuts nice nice
Good to see you back
GLAD !!! to see you back, real nice relaxing video as always.
Thanks Tim!
Glad to see you once again,. And please keep pushing being responsible and LNT. Had to carry an arm load of used shit paper out of the Angeles Forest this very morning.
Thanks for your service! Shame on those fools!
We missed you this winter as we were mostly hibernating too except a few cold and icy day hikes. Now I'm feeling inspired to head back to the whites...just in time for black flies
I think they were already out and about on this hike. I heard and saw a bunch of flies around and definitely got bit by something that was quite itchy for 2 days haha
I'm a three-season hiker at best and appreciate canary-in-the-coal-mine videos like this one when I want to know about current trail conditions. And shirt haters can FRO.
From what I have been reading for the most part the trails are fairly snowless under 3000ft seems like a lot of snow up there this winter
I got the same shirt from REI as a Christmas present! Good to see you back on the trail and youtube, man.
Same! except i gave said present to myself. Hope yall are doing well!
Really nice to see you back. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I follow your tube because of the hike, not the gear. Keep it up! And thanks a lot…😁
Appreciate it!
Always good see your videos ☺️☺️☺️!!
Thanks Deb!
Nicee. Been subscribed for 4 years and always excited to see your videos.
back in the day, the gopro daaaays haha
Glad you are getting back out and posting.
Me too John, thanks for watching!
It's great to have you back. Thanks for putting the video together. (what an amazing view at 7:55!) You had great weather. I also have a low clearance vehicle and have the same worries in the wintertime. Oh - and, nice shirt.
I have actively been looking for a Forester or Outback to replace it since last year. I had a feeling it was going to be an issue and turned out it was. Just not worth driving 3 hours for me to have to turn back around haha
I'm glad your better, and your out hiking. Please keep your self well.
Thanks Shirley!
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors I used to live in the upper New Hampshire. Now I live in the lower New Hampshire. So please becareful and have fun.
Nice man, went up there with the Chew man last December ,stunning views ,bang for your buck mountain ,you should check out my Chewie GoPro,or as my buddy calls it Chewie vision on this mountain ,pretty cool
Hey CGO, What is your favorite short trail (under 6 miles), if you have one. I'm heading to North Conway with my daughters and want to introduce them to a nice hike. They're in their mid teens
Mt Kearsarge is a great view. Like incredible view and is essentially in town. But if you are up in Jackson I would 100% check out Iron Mountain. VERY short hike and amazing views as well
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors Thanks Chris! Iron looks great! and close to NoCo!
Beautiful! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Oh man!! So good to see you again man!! I was worried. I saw ya driving across the zachim but not stopping for donuts, but then you did so it’s all good!😁👍🏼 Hey! Great hike, great views, great commentary! Not a fan of gear videos personally. Good stuff here sir and definitely cannot wait for more hiking vids. Take care and thank you again. NQU
I've gotten quite bored of making gear videos. I also havent really purchased anything crazy in the last like 2 years. I picked up some new winter stuff... and didnt even get to use it haha
@@ChrisGoesOutdoors ya… personally i would compare gear review videos to individuals in my AA mtgs droning on about their escapades while drunk! It’s kinda like… ya… we all know how to drink too much, we’re here to learn how to live without it. I used to watch review vids about this one twig stove that got really good reviews from a lot of big name youtubers and I bought one. Turns out its waaay too finicky for me and I ended up going with a different style twig stove that was a lot more relaxing. Get a little fire going, feed it thumb size stuff till your foods cooked! Easy peasy! Hope I’m making sense here! Just great to see you out there again man!! Take care man!!
ρɾσɱσʂɱ ❤️
Nice, Chris.
Thanks mark!
We can’t stand the Mass invasion up here. So many disrespectful and clueless people overcrowding. Sundays are nice when they depart.
Glad to see you posting another hiking video, and yes, man, I like your shirt. One of the things that I really like about your videos is the time you spend sharing the views at the summit giving us all a chance to soak them in. The other thing that I always enjoy is your style of giving long looks at some of the what the great outdoors has provided such as a looking down the length of a long blowdown, a soft pine bough, etc. Thanks for bringing us along on your journeys.
Appreciate that Roger. I've really been embracing the little things out there. Thanks for tuning in!
Great to see you back hiking. Bagged my first peak yesterday in Maine. You might have a bunion on your foot. Technically a bunion on that side if the foot is a bunionette or tailor's bunion. I have had one one my right foot since last summer.
I hope not! This hike went well. No pain at all. Hoping it stays this way!
