Great video, a fun fact at one point National geographic rated this hike as the 6th best hike to do in the world. Its hard to capture the steepness in a video but these 4000 footers are not an easy hike. I've hiked all 48 of the 4000 footers in NH multiple times and you quickly gain a huge respect for them, and learn to never underestimate them and the severe weather they can have. I believe to date 166 people have died on Mt Washington so far, and sadly a month or so after you guys did this hike a young woman did this loop hike by herself and a winter storm moved in and she froze to death a little ways down past that hut. But if you are prepared and able and watch the "high summit" weather (Mt Washington has a website that tells you the summit forecast, never go by the lower elevation weather) it is definitely something you have to try and experience. 👍
The stuff people do is ridiculous...i was at the summit of Mt. Washington last weekend(10/28/24) and sustained wind speed was 68 mph, gusts over 80, wind chill of -15, and snow blowing horizontally, and i saw a girl hiking in sweat pants and high top sneakers. I hope she made it down ok, but such risk for frost bite and hypothermia, never mind the fall risk wearing improper shoes...the things people do to put their life at risk...smh.
I was on a road trip with a friend earlier in July through New England and Canada, and hiking on the Franconia Ridge is by far my favorite part of the entire trip. For any hikers who have never been to the Franconia Ridge, I 100% definitely recommend it, the views are absolutely breathtaking! The hike is like no other in NH
Wicked good fun. Thanks for taking us along. I have had several adventures on the Franconia Ridge trail. My son and I once hiked up Lafeyette and south on the ridge with snow and gropple. Another time it was so windy we had to hide on the lee side of a rock to talk. Hike on.
Love the videos, It is great to see them all the way from Australia. We are looking to spend 1 year in the US doing exactly what you are doing. Here is hoping it all works out for us in 2023. In the meantime we will continue to enjoy these videos. Thank you
@@AdventuresofAplusK yes we have been a few times, the last time was in 2019 and we did a road trip from California into Utah, then flew over to Chicago, drove to Toronto and then New York, Washington DC. It was an awesome 5 weeks that left me wanting to do more. My highlights were all the national parks. Zion, Bryce Canyon, Gran Teton, Yellowstone. Jackson Hole, Lake Powell and many other places. The US is a beautiful country. All the best and who knows I might be able to get some pointers from you guys once the trip is locked in. Cheers
No wind up top!!!! Wow that was a beautiful day for sure! Great hike and the views are spectacular! Thanks guys, stay safe , busy and get headed south !!
Oh my goodness those burgers look amazing. Cajun is my go to as well and those fries are done exactly how I like them. YUUUUUMMMM. Amazing views on that hike...makes up for the foggy summit the other day! Also, love the Kraig Adams return to get the camera shots. Nice dedication to the shots you 2.

I love it here. You got lucky with the weather but it's also so gorgeous when clouds roll over the ridge and the mountains peek out... it's a very special place
Absolutely stunning!! Plus such a beautiful weather day! We were very fortunate to have similar weather at the top of Mt Washington and very similar views! Of course, y’all had quite a few more vantage points than we did! This hike is on our list of Must Do’s…now I want to go even more!! Thanks again for sharing with all of us!!
Brings back memories. In the 80's I did the full ridge trail. Started from the Greenleaf trailhead near the Old Man of the Mountain to the hut to stay over night. Then climbed Ft Lafayette and hiked the ridge to Mt Flume. Finishing taking the Flume Slide Trail down to The Flume parking lot.
Just did this hike yesterday starting from the same path. Not easy in this weather! Ice everywhere! But after being on the trail a long time, we stoped just a tad short of the ridge and decided there was a decent chance we couldn’t complete the loop before it got dark. We have short legs, so need a little more time lol. Totally worth it for what we did see and the experience we had! For sure coming back in warmer weather with more daylight.
Another great video!! The colors are so beautiful. Your hike looked challenging but fun and very satisfying 😀 OMG , those burgers looked impressive!! The fries looked delicious. 😋😋🤩🤩
A+K---great video again! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed Franconia Ridge more than Mt Washington last time I was there. The view on Washington was completely fogged in. Franconia is underrated, if that's possible.
That was our fear with Washington, so we decided to save it for when we have more days free and can keep an eye on the weather (it had rained for DAYS before this hike and our last video). Plus, we enjoyed that this hike required you to hike to the top, which we think kept the summit less busy than what we imagine Washington is like!
We love your channel! We normally don't comment because we watch you on our big screen tv, but today was watching you on my computer and y'all are so good at what you do, explaining everything, that's what I love. Keep up the great work! Another really great video!!
I currently live in New Hampshire and have done that hike a few times now! My favorite time was when there was a light dusting of snow on the peaks, such a gorgeous hike! Glad you guys enjoyed it! Also those burgers are WICKED GOOD!😂
As a frequent vacationer in New Hampshire I know, you can also have them drive you up mount Washington in special vehicles. That is by far the best choice. It's not expensive and you have time to soak up the views while someone else drives. Its totally worth it for the views

My favorite hike of all time! Took our Boy Scout troop there for one of our merit badge hikes a few years back. The weather was spectacular, like it was for you and so was the hike!
Glad you didn't forget to feed the starving doggy! At least Kona doesn't drool all over you (unlike our Zoe!). Beautiful video, New England is stunning!
As usual another great video. It has been over 40 years since I was in the white mountains. I hiked up MT Washington,it was 80 degrees at the base and about 40 at the top. Had the trail all to my self. I'm going back next year!
If you ever come back for mount Washington, I highly recommend the Huntington ravine route. It is considered to be the most technical trail in the whites, so unfortunately that route isn't dog friendly (although ive seen it done anyways). I only did it once on a 30 degree day in july (yes july) lol. It wasn't no where near as bad as everyone made it out to be. I found it to be extremely fun. Plenty of hold and places to put your feet so it isn't some crazy ordeal. I've been on hikes out west that literally had me fearing for my life, this wasn't one of them. Otherwise I also heavily recommend doing the entire presidential traverse. Cannot recommend that enough, it is a 22mile doozy, but you will never regret it. Best 15-16 hours of my life! You can also do it as a multi day backpack! Covers 10 peaks, the half way point being mount Washington!
Thanks for the trail recommendation! It sounds like a blast! And we definitely want to do the Presidential Traverse someday, it looks like an incredible hike!
My thought is the spot almost to the summit on Huntington, that requires great finger strength to hoist yourself up an awkward narrow bolder. If you slip, hiccup, or blink you will fall many feet down. Unfortunately if you realize it's too angst ridden, you are forced to figure out how to get back out of the precarious spot. This past summer, 2021, a few people had to call for help. They were rescued from the top down with ropes. Remember when someone, including me, say it's very difficult or not so bad....is a personal opinion on THEIR ability, not anyone else. Read the guide books.
@@roxannegordon6162 I 100% agree! It's all based on your own experience. This trail, and Mt Washington in general, is not something to take lightly and preparations should be made no matter what skill level you are at. People get stuck up there every year, even those who are experienced.
Thanks for sharing. I did that same hike on sep of 2021. It took us around 7 hours to complete but the views were incredible! Mt. Washington is next probably next summer.
Love the fall colors. The White Mts of New Hampshire are awesome. While not as high as the N.W., they have their own beauty. Looks like the 3 of you worked up a good appetite. Can't wait until the Maine adventure. 👍👍🙋♂️
My wife, 6 yr old daughter, and I live in boring IL so it's GREAT seeing you guys hike and travel in the upper NE with all the beautiful fall leaf colors. All we get in northern IL is road construction, bad tempers, and straight from summer heat to bitter winter cold🙄!
Oh wow, so beautiful there, in this video there is Cannon MTN, rock faced MTN, across the valley there (other side of the hwy) there is some awesome history there of women in conservation, love watching all the beautiful places you explore
My favorite! That is a HARD trail without trekking poles. You two are awesome. Mount Washington is amazing but you already got great views by doing this hike.
You two (and Kona) tackled a good one. The fall colors looked amazing - and you always have such good imagery in your shots. We hiked this same trail just a week or two after you because Greenleaf hut had just closed for the season. We passed on Mt Washington, too. Keep up the good work! We love your destinations (obviously).
I can totally understand why this is the best rated hike, it was stunning from start to end. The boulder falls, the bigger falls, the autumnal fall colour and the views at the top. I'm still yet to experience a cloud inversion and those clouds waaaay off in the distance from both Little Haystack and Mt Lincoln were so beautiful. I giggled so much at your explanation as to why your chose not to hike Mt. Washington... so funny! Very much appreciated the food in this too. I'd have gone for the apple coffee cake, and whilst I wouldn't have gone for the beef in the burgers, they looked excellent and had they one chicken/veggie, I'd have been buying one of those!! Very off topic, but a couple of my colleagues told we they're going to Vegas next summer and I immediately told them about Zion National Park and Googled images to show them and a photo of you both in the Narrows came up as one of the top images ❤️
You would love this hike! It has a ton of fun features and kept it interesting the entire time. And it’s hard to complain when there’s delicious food on the hike and afterwards. How crazy that are photo showed up on Google-that is awesome!
Beautiful scenery!! What a hike! Always wondered where the name "Franconia" came from. Have a gold mine in AZ that is in Franconia wash. Still don't know what it means. Least now i know from whence it came from. As always, good choice of food. Can't believe y'all ate the whole thing. Incredulous:) Great video. Give the dog a scratch for me; and see ya next time.
Looks like you caught the peak fall foliage! I did this hike years ago, the climb up to Little Haystack was pretty brutal and the descent on the Greenleaf Trail destroyed me, but the hike along the ridge over Lincoln and Lafayette was so spectacular, made it all worthwhile!
Awesome video, as usual. If you ever go back, I definitely recommend going up Mount Washington, whether it be by road, cog railway, or hiking. I still have vibrant memories of being there when I was four. A couple more US hikes with huts are Mount Greylock, the high point of Massachusetts, and Glacier's Highline Trail.
Unfortunately our only way is hiking, since the train is just too pricy for us and our van can't drive the road, but we would love to hike it some day! Good to know about the hike in Massachusetts with a hut, we will add that to the list. We did the Highline Trail, but didn't visit the hut, but want to next time!
This time of year, I don't go above tree line, call me chicken. My goal is to hike Mt. Wash in the Winter. I want to see what it's like to get a picture of the summit sign without having to wait in line for 45 minutes.
Mount Washington is actually my least favorite. I guess because all these out of shape tourists with stinky cars can just drive up and ruin the scenery. Also, the views even on a clear day aren’t that great. It’s a short steep hike and kind of gravelly. Franconia is 1000x better
What an awesome looking hike! Reminded me of our time hiking in the Adirondacks... like you said, Mt Marcy etc. Views were amazing.... leaves looked beautiful. And the burger.....wow. Cajun is my absolute favorite so it looked incredible!!!!
It was very similar! Although we loved how long the views lasted on this one vs. just at the top. 😍 That burger was SO dang good, I tried to recreate it, but I have not succeeded yet.
I understand not wanting to do the Rockpile during late Fall. I've been up there several times, April through September. Sometimes took the Cog, sometimes drove. It's wicked windy on a good day and crazy windy on a not so good day. The Cog seems to raise prices by more than 10% a year lately. It is worth the ride though...sucks that you only get an hour at the top...well you can take more, but then your return ride may not have room for you...as later in the day the seats really fill up. Hikers like to summit and take the Cog down.
I feel that this was visually your best video that I have watched so far. You really captured the awesomeness of the views from the peaks. And yet, those views must be even better than a camera can capture. I thought that your Newfoundland vistas would be impossible to beat. But....Now I'm not so sure. You have motivated me to go and hike the Ridge Loop and climb those peaks, one day. Thank you. 😄😄😄
It still holds the record for the highest wind recorded by a manned station. If you did the loop, you came down The Old Bridal Path. The Greenleaf Trail start near the Cannon Mountain Tramway.
Two comments. My wife and I took a bus tour of New England. a few years back and the nicest place we stayed was in North Conway where you got those burgers. As to the hike. I always thought in my backpacking days that the downhills were the toughest. Murder on the knees. Great video!
North Conway was nice! And I (Adam) agree! It’s tough on the knees and sometimes just a slog! As weird as it might be I prefer going uphill even though it can be tougher. Thanks for watching!
Ahhh this is amazing! Franconia Ridge is an absolute classic hike. Unfortunately I am cursed on these mountains, because I have hiked them four times and never gotten a view. I will say, I am very impressed with your research because the places you went in the Whites truly are the best showcase of what NH has to offer. Lincoln and Lafayette are probably my second and third favorite mountains. The only one I would place above is Bondcliff. It is an 18 mile hike so very far away, but if you guys ever get a chance, take a look at some photos because it is beautiful. Sorry to write a lot, I am just very excited to see A+K in NH, hope you enjoyed!
Oh no! That sounds like our experience hiking near Mount Rainier in WA. The mountains can be finicky! We will definitely look into Bondcliff for next time...we LOVED New Hampshire and will be back and can't wait to hike more!
What a spectacular day for a hike! Beautiful views & waterfalls!!! Kara & Nate recently posted a video at Mt. Washington. Great video guys! Thanks for taking us along! ~Cara 😊
I love seeing all you restaurant recs, especially the gluten free options!! I have to eat gluten free as well so it’s nice to see how many options there are in some of dream destinations!
Loved all the beauty in this video! I also loved that apple coffee cake (that hut was really cool), THOSE FRIES (the burgers looked really awesome too), Konie Bear (I think she deserved a second little piece of the coffee cake you porkies! 🤣), Fun-gai Adam and your sick moves, Kathryn! Great video!
Two years ago, my girlfriend and I, along with our two Shetland sheepdogs, set out for this specific hike. Unfortunately, we took a wrong turn and ended up lost off the trail for two hours in the dark. It was a really scary situation, but my dogs took the opportunity to nap while we tried to figure things out. Thankfully, we had a GPS, which helped us find our way back, but it took us a few hours longer than we had anticipated. Overall It was a life lesson and a beautiful Hike. next time we'll start at 5am.
Amazing! Spectacular! That scenery and foliage were incredible. That goes for both White Mountain videos. Your videos are such a joy to watch. They are put together so well and flow so well with the story you want to tell. Excellent job. There just seems to be amazing views everywhere, even just traveling down the highway. I haven’t made it to the Whites yet. Almost went last year but chose Vermont instead. I know it’s very rugged and the hikes that I wanted to do were long. Didn’t think it was a go idea with the kids and the medical issue I was dealing with last year. I have a low-tier bucket list item there and that is to do the Presidential Traverse. Well that an experience a New England fall.
Your comments always make our day, Michael! Thank you! The Whites were spectacular! If you're going to make in trip in the northeast we highly recommend it! It is very rugged and there is tons to see! The Presidential Traverse is on our bucket list as well! There's a guy on RUclips named Ryan J Schmitz who made a really great video of him doing the traverse And fall in New England was top notch!
Hello A+K, I haven't left a comment in a while, but I've enjoyed your Eastern videos. This was such a beautiful hike, and I'm looking forward to seeing your Maine adventures. I've never been to New England, and it's unlikely I will. I'm leaving Indianapolis for Salt Lake City in two weeks for a new job, home, and some new adventures of my own. Keep up your good work!
It’s a bit of the opposite for me! I’ve lived in New England my entire life and although I really haven’t traveled much it is my favorite part of the United States (I may be biased :) ). I have heard a lot about Indiana from a friend and it sounds so different but also very great. I don’t really plan on ever going but it seems like a nice place.
Another great video, and rewarding yourself with a nice burger can be done after hiking 8 miles, so there is no guilt involved with eating. I get a kick out of your dog on the hike trail with you both. Looking forward to seeing you adventures in Maine along the coast and in the mountains.
Hello A + K, excellent video! My wife and I are watching your channel for the past few weeks and recently did a similar RV loop through the northeast. (our home base is MN) We really appreciate your amazing editing skills (lots of time and hard work) and positive approach to each day on your adventures. Your positive vibe is the boss sauce. You will LOVE Maine, we spent a few days in and around Acadia and then north to Quoddy Head State Park which has the furthest east point marker. We missed the Trail Head at MOUNT KATAHDIN so look forward to seeing it through your lens. Keep up the great content and videos and be sure to rest and relax along the way! Bob and Jeanne,
Thank you so much for watching and the kind words! We had a great time in Maine! We didn’t do Katahdin this time since our van is too large for the park and Kona wasn’t allowed, but we had a lot of fun adventures on the coast!
Hello, been following your channel for a long time and enjoy seeing all the places you have been . I live in Maine and was surprised to see your visiting here.
Amazing views! That's awesome the hut had snacks! We love when we come across places like that. Unfortunately it's not as common in the U.S. as in Europe but we love them!
My husband mentioned a few years ago that he wanted to do this loop hike with me, but I’m a bit scared. I’m just scared of the constant uphill. I love hiking but this past year I haven’t hiked a lot so I’m a bit out of shape. I can hike for miles and miles but when it’s up hill I struggle. Do you think it’s doable for someone who’s a big out of shape and 180 pounds? Btw, I love that you give details of the hikes and places you eat. Very informative videos
Angel and I have loved your last few videos from the beautiful state of Vermont. My first cousin lives in Vermont, and sadly, we have not been to visit since 2007. Sure hope to make it back that way soon.

It was a gorgeous hike!
This video was filmed on October 8, 2021 and doesn’t reflect the current state of fall foliage.

My favorite hike of all time! Took our Boy Scout troop there for one of our merit badge hikes a few years back. The weather was spectacular, like it was for you and so was the hike!
That is so awesome! That would be a fun group hike!
I found your channel today and immediately subscribed after watching the first episode. Just what I was looking for!
Thank you so much! We are so glad to have you along! ❤️
I hiked this on the same date but 2023 and it was amazing
Glad you didn't forget to feed the starving doggy! At least Kona doesn't drool all over you (unlike our Zoe!). Beautiful video, New England is stunning!
Hahaha she was definitely getting a bit annoying with her begging 😂
As usual another great video. It has been over 40 years since I was in the white mountains. I hiked up MT Washington,it was 80 degrees at the base and about 40 at the top. Had the trail all to my self. I'm going back next year!
Wow, now that is a temperature swing!
Just a heads up, don't do this trail until all the snow is gone. There's a video about hiking Huntington ravine by the channel post 10 that shows why.
Do you need license for hiking on NH please let me know kid are welcome or not
Thanks for sharing.
They are SO awesome! We always say the West has our hearts, but the White Mountains can go up against many hikes out west!
We hear Southern IL has some cool parks! We have only been to Chicago since we have family near there, but hope to explore more someday!
This is so awesome! And great choice for a burger!! ❤️ can’t wait to do this trail next year ☺️
We hope you enjoy it as much as we did! And we HIGHLY recommend those burgers afterwards!
Thank you for the video this is awesome ill hike there this summer
Thanks for watching!
Loved this!
“All we want is melted cheese and French fries” that’s so relatable😂
Hahaha it is the PERFECT combo after a hike! 😂
It’s a doozy, but so worth it!
It’s actually not very gravelly. No poles needed unless there snow. Even then, mostly you want a change of socks in case near the streams 😅
I think we are the only people that say "wicked" all the time. I Love New Hampshire my birth place and my home. Hello from Goffstown, NH....
haha love it!
That hut reminds me of Switzerland. You'll be hiking up a remote mountain and all of a sudden there's a fully functioning restaurant at the top.
That is how Italy is! It's so amazing!
So glad y’all got to hike this too! Thank you so much for following along!
My wife and I did this trail 4 years ago in October. The weather was awesome and well worth the effort!
It’s definitely one of those hikes where the hard work pays off!
@@AdventuresofAplusK we try a different hike each year. Thanks for your amazing vids !
We actually aren't sure either!
Great episode. Love that you’re here in NE. Enjoy Maine.
Thank you! We LOVED Maine!
That descent was brutal!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Another hike in the Whites with a Hut is Mts. Adams & Madison, but tough to pull off as a day hike.
Awesome! That burger looks wicked good. ;) Keep the coffee and taco reviews coming too.
Hahaha it was definitely wicked good! 😜
Love when Kona gets to come and get treats!
Us too!!! Most of the time at least 😂
That was so fun. Brought me back to 2019 when I did the same loop. My post-hike burger was Black Mtn. Burger Co. in Lincoln. Cheers!
We almost went there! Hard to beat a burger after a hike!
We'd love to go up there on our next visit!
Thanks for the trip! Nice to see the tippee-top of Northeast ‘Merica! Loved it! (except for the mustard)
The northeast is amazing! And more mustard for us 😜
I've done the hike and it's truly spectacular
Beautiful!
Thank you. 😄😄😄
Thank you so much!
It still holds the record for the highest wind recorded by a manned station. If you did the loop, you came down The Old Bridal Path. The Greenleaf Trail start near the Cannon Mountain Tramway.
So awesome!!!
Love your hikes to places I may never go. Especially LOVE Kono, so sweet and such a good companion🥰 Thanks from Arizona🌵🌵🌵
Thank you for watching!
~Cara 😊
Thanks y'all!
Hahaha maybe we should have gotten Kona her own slice! It was hard enough to share between the two of us 😜
Two years ago, my girlfriend and I, along with our two Shetland sheepdogs, set out for this specific hike.
Getting lost on the trail can be scary! We never go on a hike without the AllTrails map downloaded on our phones! Glad yall were ok!
There's a guy on RUclips named Ryan J Schmitz who made a really great video of him doing the traverse
And fall in New England was top notch!
@@AdventuresofAplusK thanks for the video suggestion. I will have to check it out and see just how beastly it will be.
Congrats on the new city, job, and adventure! That is awesome! You’ll be close to so many incredible spots 🙌🏼
We love hiking because we can basically eat anything we want afterwards haha!
@@AdventuresofAplusK - Enjoy your youth, because when you get older, that is no longer an option.
Kona is such a trooper!!😘
She is a little mountain goat!
That was great! Can't wait to see Maine Colors!
Super excited to share Maine! It was beautiful and a fun change of pace being on the coast!
U lucked out with that weather. I've submitted these peaks many, many times and I've only seen it that clear like 2 times 😂
You did us proud!
Hello, been following your channel for a long time and enjoy seeing all the places you have been . I live in Maine and was surprised to see your visiting here.
We loved Maine! Excited to share what we got up to there 😃
Amazing views! That's awesome the hut had snacks! We love when we come across places like that. Unfortunately it's not as common in the U.S. as in Europe but we love them!
We love the huts so much! We cannot wait to go back to Europe to hike to more!
Just did this last week, the 8 screws in my heel were screaming but it was worth it!
Spectacular!
Took all the same waterfall videos. Lol
Ouch! Glad you had a good time!
Angel and I have loved your last few videos from the beautiful state of Vermont. My first cousin lives in Vermont, and sadly, we have not been to visit since 2007. Sure hope to make it back that way soon.
We are so glad y'all have enjoyed them! We hope you can get back there!
