My list of recommended mods for first time overlanders: 1) good tires. 2) good fridge. It's just such a game changer.

Jared, thanks for the review. I recently bought a 20 quart set power for my 2 door bronco, it's a great product with a really good warranty!
I'm currently running a Bouge RV dual-zone in my gladiator. Mine came with the baskets also and I thought it was a great idea but you would not believe how much room those baskets take up 😬. Now we only use the baskets to transport the food out to the refrigerator and then empty them in to the fridge directly. Turns out you can actually stuff a few more items in there without the baskets!
Well if you're headed out for a long trip you might consider eliminating the baskets and loading up the fridge a bit more.
We will be out on the swell here in a few weeks, maybe see you out there...

Great review! I’m interested to see how the fridge holds up over the next few years because from what you’ve shown here, it looks like a solid investment

I've owned an ARB 64 for several years: Not worth it. Too expensive, too bulky, ineffective. In the western USA, I'm never away from ice sources for more than 3-4 days. Biggest problems are batteries and inadequate cooling effectiveness. Batteries of sufficient capacity cost as much or more than the fridge, have to be replaced every few years. My fridge cant keep food cool enough in Arizina summer heat, in the shade. In the back of my 2005 4Runner, it's huge.

Interesting. I’ve ran the Iceco for several years not at AZ level heat (I’ve lived in Havasu so I know it’s next level) but Utah gets hot as well. I’ve never had issues with either of these budget coolers keeping food cold.

I've been using coolers for 50 years, but the 12v frig is the greatest camping update.(like airing down my tires. What the heck! What took me so long to discover this? ) Absolute game changer. I live in Phoenix and my $300 48qt frig has no problem handling the heat here, and Utah, in the summer. My little 300wh battery easily runs the frig from the time I stop driving in the late afternoon until i take off the next morning.
