- New Disgaea cover! This time I'm playing the Dark Hero Axel's theme "White Tiger."
This one was a little difficult, but I think it turned out pretty well. It's been a while since I played Disgaea 2 or 4. I remember really liking Axel as a character when I was younger because he was so extroverted and silly, but I'd have to play 2 again to see what I'd think of him now. I watched a few cutscenes that revolved around him to get some background video so his general plot and purpose in the game is starting to come back to me, but I've wanted to replay Disgaea 2 for a while now so I'll probably just do that and then form an opinion on him.
I plan to cover every Disgaea song in the series that has lyrics so stick around for that and let me know if there's any songs you'd like me to prioritize. I'm gonna do them all anyway so it doesn't matter to me what order :)

Though honestly? He is not only one of my favorite characters, he is one of my favorite martial artists in the series along with Adell, Champloo, and Rutile. Its cute to know that she makes a Kenshiro reference, that iconic line though. Though its a shame to hear that NIS is suffering financial difficulties and may go bankrupt if Disgaea 6 doesn't sell more than D5.
Holy crap, Axel is like my favorite Disgaea character and probably one of my favorite video game characters in general. I always thought it was weird you have to go digging to find lyrics for Disgaea songs. Keep up the good work dood!
Thanks Dood! Yeah, it's hard to find lyrics. I could just write my own from scratch, but I like to base my lyrics on the direct translation whenever I can so it took a little digging. Hopefully my lyrics are some close 😅
Axel will always be my #1 comfort character, TYSM for making an English version of his song. I love it so muchhhh

This is GREAT!! I love it so much, I'm glad you translated it. I wonder if Axel is a real person? I think it's some version of the name Alex or Azel. Also known as Azazel(fallen angel, leader of the rebellion in heaven... uh might not translate well, thought earth women were hott and made everyone promise to go through with it), or maybe even Azreal (someone on youtube called themselves Azreality, I wouldn't bring this to their attention though, they seemed like a nice person and I'm just wondering out loud).
Thanks for the work you did Dan! I've listened to the Disgaea 2 ost like 15 times so far. This song has so much comedy in it... That one line "back off from the guilt you feel" is so funny! It makes me think that every line of the song is intended as a well meaning insult, like they didn't know HOW BAD!!! that was to shred the night, climb up higher than anyone else, or never say goodbye to those you love. hehehe, oh my god! Reallly cool song though! I have on my tabletop a book called "The World of Disgaea 2" It's red in color, english translated, by Broccoli Books, and you might be able to find a copy on ebay or the shopping tab on google search. I saw "The World of Disgaea" 1 going for roughly 20 dollars with free shipping recently, the one I have was going for 7 or 8 dollars actually, I have no use for too though, no matter who in my family is willing to buy it for me. I thought you might enjoy it though, I enjoy it. Anyway thanks Dan for the song, I'll subscribe!

Fun fact about Axel. His Japanese name Akutare is used to describe someone that is very mean spirited. You can say something like that person is very akutare. A perfect name for a demon.

Spin off game absolutely, but at least we got Axel mode in D2.
One of the best songs in disgaea for my fav unite ever. I hope u do let's dance the last battle and his theme from disgaea 4 pandara ignition.
My goal is to over time cover all Disgaea songs that have lyrics so at some point I'll play both of those 🙂 It might be a while though before Let's Dance The Final Battle gets played because that one has some complicated guitar parts 😅
Curios, has anyone ever released an instrumental version of the song? I've never, ever found one before.
Not one that I could find. There's barely any covers/instrumentals for Disgaea music out there. I do everything for my Disgaea covers, the instrumental and write the lyrics (based on the direct translation).
I gotta admit im kinda disappointed because I was expecting a metal cover but its still pretty good.
Understandable disappointment, metal unfortunately isn't really my genre to play. I'm glad you still think it's pretty good 🙂

I really love your take of the song! Your range and tone of voice is pretty good for it. I’m just a little disappointed the lyrics were changed from the original. Hearing “Boil the black blood, hot burning fire in my heart” would have been amazing in english! I’m not going to discredit how great of a singer you are..but a cover with the original lyrics would have been appreciated. Nice work regardless!
Thank you Red! I agree, that would've sounded awesome. Unfortunately the direct translation doesn't always flow well with the song's rhythm. I usually try to stay close to the original song's translation if I can so idk why I chose not to try and rephrase that. I know there's like a 4:30 minute version that has a crazy guitar solo and a couple other parts and there's like a 3 minute version that I used as a reference. Maybe that line isn't in the simplified version? I'm not sure. Glad you liked it though 🙂
