    I have never watched the Titanic movie.... But I worked in a nursing home back in New York,and I had been taking care of someone in my nursing home that was telling us that he was 14 years old when the Titanic went down, and he was on the boat that came to the rescue of the Titanic... Now those are the kind of stories I love to hear... He was a great man! 🥰

He came home from school one day, threw his books down on the kitchen table and said “Mom why did you have me on April 15?!?!” That’s Tax day, The Titanic sank, and President Lincoln died!!” (Like I had a choice in the matter) I replied “So you could Redeem The Day!!!” When he was little he thought his Birthday was on Easter Day, and on the 15th of April! To be fair, the first few life boats went out half empty because people didn't really believe the ship was sinking. They were told this was just a precaution and they would be back on the boat by morning. So many didn't know the extent of the damage until latter on. It would great to know when she actually made the statement about the clothes. If it was after she got in the lifeboat? She probably didn't know the entire situation. If she made this statement after realizing the boat was sinking and many were still on it? Hearing all those horrific screams? She is truly a selfish, cold-hearted woman!

      This is a great point, that is how my great grandfather Albert Horswill was ordered onto cutter lifeboat one by Officer Murdoch along with six other crewmen that were nearby, only 5 first class passengers were willing to board because many didn’t believe the ship was in danger. They needed to launch that boat because it was impeding the larger lifeboats. Murdoch decided to order the seven crewmen aboard since lowering it with 12 would be better than merely 5.

    • @HappyOne3
      @HappyOne3 6 месяцев назад +17

      Very true. Also, but regrettably, they didn’t return to pick up others in the ocean because more than likely everyone knew that the boats would capsize leaving all involved dead especially when trying to help panicking people. It’s just horrible no matter how you look at it. It’s such a shame and waste.

      @@HappyOne3 I don’t think my great grandfather had any plans on getting off the Titanic, he just happened to be nearby a cutter lifeboat that needed to be lowered and Officer Murdoch, a true hero, ordered him and the other crewmen aboard at the last minute. I think everyone in that lifeboat was a victim of circumstance. As for not returning to pickup passengers-I believe only 1 lifeboat even attempted that but for some reason those lifeboats are never criticized like the Duff Gordons lifeboat. There have been cases where someone went back to try and rescue more people, and their boat ended up sinking too. In the White Ship disaster in the 1100s, the heir to the English throne goes back to try and save his half-sister from a sinking ship...people swarmed him, his small boat sank too, and almost everyone ended up drowning. Of 300 people on the boat only one (a butcher) survived. All of the rich people on that lifeboat probably learned that story in prep school and panicked that trying to help might lead to everyone dying instead. The White Ship was also a big deal - I can't remember if it was brand-new or remodeled but it was another ship no one expected to sink.

      I have to agree. The boats should have been full in the first place (no question about it), but in this part of the video I was thinking “but if they turned around there’d be a big risk that people would be too desperate to get in and that boat would sink too… no?”.
      I like to think I’d do the right thing in these situations, but the Titanic is one of those cases where it’s hard to tell, you just “had to be there”. :(

    • @ikkelimburg3552
      @ikkelimburg3552 6 месяцев назад +3

      Agreed. And the boat was already not in the best seaworthy condition without the plug. Also missing in the tale: the first lifeboats were not loaded to full capacity because the crew didn’t know if they could lower them safely due to the listing of the Titanic. And the lifeboats weren’t tested like in later years. First thing I learned in swimming classes: never ever go on your own to a drowning person your or a bigger size because they will drag you down under with them.

      Hi Sonja! Thank you so much for giving my channel a try! Thank you for subscribing. I hope that you continue to enjoy it here. I'm working on a story about a Great Depression heiress that I plan to release next week. Maybe until then, you'll like some of the videos in the playlist in the pinned comment of this video.
      You have no idea of how I am laughing at your background music comment. I am one of those people who used to have my background music WAY too loud. I'm still learning as I go along. And people complain on EVERY video about background music. Some people miss my old loud music. Other people don't want me to use any background music at all. I just have to laugh and keep trying to do my best.

My Dad met a sister when he was 48 that she dropped off in Baltimore (mind you they were born and raised in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.) She had a twin they passed to get along. But my gma was a slur. Lol 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️. She had kids dropped them off on her brother's 394 acre farm and hauled a**. My father and his brothers never had anything new until they all joined the army as they turned 17. The age was 17 back then fact checkers. My Dad was born in 1931. 2nd to youngest of like 7 or 8 kids. 🤷🏽‍♀️. My Gma had no explanation for the daughter she dropped off in Baltimore Aunt Ruby. It's so much. My cousin, when fb first started after we started a family group on fb. She told us her Dad my Uncle Andrew told them when they were growing up, when he was 16 some man in N.C. told him he was his Dad. So she felt she was never a Stephenson because of that lmao. Idk 😫 🤷🏽‍♀️ my Aunt Maggie was the oldest and raised my Dad and Uncles. She never left the "farm"..land. its so much more. Our family history is wild! And that's just my Dad's side. Whew! Haven't touched my Mom's side and how my uncle and brother both were killed by cops. Yep….that much money would have made me really happy because when my ex was having the final affair I found out about….he emptied our bank accounts and our 4 kids and I got basically nothing……I got to live in our house until our youngest was only 5 and I had to make half the house payments of $465 a month and pay all the utilities and the rest of the expenses when I was getting only $267.00 a month and had not worked in 15 years. My ex would send a check for his half of the house payment and then call his bank and put a stop payment on his check. This was in 1981. If it had not been for my sweet mom helping me and my 4 children…two teenage boys, with big old man size feet and two little girls who loved their daddy and could not understand him leaving them…it was no fun. Don’t worry…karma got him in the end.

    "Citizen Kane" was a good movie. I always heard it was based on the life of William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper mogul, grandfather of Patty Hearst, American fugitive terrorist of the 1970s. I didn't know about Jules Brulatour, but I really enjoyed learning about him. This was a very well-delivered narrative and it was excellently scripted. I was glued to my chair and watched it in it's entirety. Child, you smart!!!!!!
