What i especially like about it is how i paid 1 euro to get 3 months of access to everything on the PC version of the xbox game pass. Including Forza Horizon 5. And like 380 other games. Most of which suck giant balls.

I make it a point to race cleanly online, but sending rammers to the shadow realm is always a nice bonus. Either that or just baiting them into taking themselves out. It's half the fun to be honest.

People have that Call of Duty mindset when they need to have a CS:GO mindset
Thats why I did it with a group of friends in S1. The S2 noobs were far enough ahead to leave us alone, and we could get enough A.I. to win

I just brake early everywhere and let them send themselves into walls.
Kids be using X-class cars on open class Trial event, not knowing that it will also spawn impossible to beat drivatars. When they lose, they will quit, leaving other players with unwinnable race.
The advancements in collision detection and ghosting probably make for a much better player experience, though it's not as fun to watch in a video. When I see Forza content, I really want to see 12 car pileups at turn 1

wall collision was added in FH4 after people were 'taking corners' by wall riding without much punishment. So this was the solution. The could disable it now as they redesigned most barriers and you can't really slide the car around the corner as well and touching a wall reduces your speed much more significantly, even in single player than it used to

I like when some jag off slams me into the wall and the game penalises me while he speeds off unhindered.

It's too aggressive in how it slows you down in fh4, dunno how it is in fh5 haven't played it...
unbeatable AI just pushes you off off track and crashes in to you in fh5
And let's not forget about top 1-3 spots dedicated to AI with rockets...wack
they're not impossible.. just have to drive really well

@@nickmurphy4209 i think it's the way you're building and tuning... i'm no lewis hamilton mate i can barely keep it on the road sometimes.
Honestly I think most of the ramming and contact in Forza Horizon isn’t really the drivers fault. The roads just tend to be way too narrow and everyone is being squeezed into tight checkpoints. It also doesn’t help that for some reason they refuse to have the same situational awareness assists they have in motorsport, like arrows indicating where cars are in your blind spots and how close they are. A third person mirror would be nice too. I find most of the contact in the game happens when you’re trying to race tight but you really can’t tell where other drivers are slightly behind or beside you.
Yes i would love for them to implement a better radar so you know how close people are to you

@@d1rt_baggg He used to live stream FM7 and I ended up getting in a race with him a couple times. A lot of his viewers have raced with him. Definitely not afraid to interact with his subscribers.

I like my "all rounder" S1 builds to have around a 210mph top speed, anything less than 200mph is rough for races like Goliath.

Try the Jag XJR15. You can pretty much casually hit 270 mph frequently in S1 class with decent handling to boot. Totally broken lmao

One thing to note about racing in Horizon: Your position on the grid does not matter. The finishing order is based on your time from crossing the start line to the end. If you start in 12th, you can be 2nd behind the person who was 1st on the grid, but if you're right on their tail, you will win since you took less time to get from the start line to the finish. Honestly, I like it. It levels the playing field of the starting grid in the mostly short races.
If anything, this system actually benefits starting 12th on the grid, since you cross the start line with more speed than 1st does.

I've been enjoying FH5. It's my first time playing the series, and it's refreshingly different from the Sim Racing I normally do, which is always track based. Racing has mostly been with friends against bots in co-op mode, so the main goal is get past the bots and then try and mess each other up. The fact it works well with a wheel only makes it better, so even if I'm not racing my friends, I'm just enjoying good sounding engines on twisty roads in an open world with an occasional "only in horizon" moment as cars fly across the screen in front of you. Saw a car do that yesterday, swear it was trying to jump across the entire town.
IMO the racing in GT Sport is way better, but your FM7 videos are what brought me to the channel in the first place. I love your commentary on cars "falling off a cliff never to bee seen again", and that just doesn't happen in GT Sport. I've been playing the shit out of FH5 and would love to see you do more videos in this game.
Well GT Sport is a proper serious racing game, FH5 is an arcade game that exists purely for after-work fun

I see alot of people sleeping on Forza games before the Horizon titles.. None of you ever heard of Forza motorsport? (Apex?) I'm still stuck on the Night races & holy shit they feel Real. Thank me later o7
You can actually lengthen the gears in the tuning section before races, found that out after having the same problem
but you have to tune the car yourself to begin with

This video was refreshing. You do a lot more serious content these days, and I love that. But this hilarity brought me back to when I started watching you years ago.
This game seems to wear off pretty quickly when you're online by yourself.
It looks like it only shines through when you're just relaxing doing the offline campaign or racing with a group of friends.
It shines when you just drive around with the radio off and just taking a car up and down through the gears. You get so many cars so I just end up test driving them.

FH5 is definitely a big improvement, especially with the crazy combinations you can make for different car builds. You can literally make an offroad lambo build if you wanted to, which is hilarious. Map's really well done, and the collision protection and slowdowns are a big middle finger to rammers and wall riders. Definitely picking the game up when I get the space on my PC
the different car build option is also a downside. You can just buy 2-3 Boneshakers, tune them differently and you can own any race in A and S1
Legit seeing someone as good as you make some of these mistakes and living through some unfortunate things makes me feel soooo much better about the shit I go through XD

I love how, in the first street race in the Bronco, it gave you the close finish effect, despite the fact that there was no one else in the race

Horizon 5 is a good game, more casually catered of course. But I think real improvements to the Forza engine and race rules etc will come with the next Forza Motorsport.
For sure, Horizon 5 was a crossgen game and mostly reusing old stuffs while Motorsports is completely next gen and they are aiming for a generation leap in several features.
I kinda like Horizon but I think the studio downplay the online races a lot, the game really needs some improvements that I hope they could improve in the next month or two updates.
Honestly the online freeroam is worse than the previous entries. They need to go back to single instances for the entire map. Nothing worse than cruising with a random & he just disappears because one of you entered a new instance. It's also made the Arcade events completely empty. Best you can hope for is 1-2 people besides yourself, if anyone even shows up.

I really like FH5 because of the Open world compared to GT Sport, Asseto Corsa.. but I really feel like they need to do something big and new for the next horizon game. also hyped to see how Forza Motorsport 8 will be, also in comparison to GT 7 which Im also hyped about.

@@darrenjk5438 so were saying the same thing. If they DONT put it in and instead leave it as a single hopper "beta" feature like they did in FM7 then the multiplayer will be thought of as a joke once again compared to GT
They should combine all maps of FH 5, 4, 3, 2 , 1 to create the biggest online racing universe in history

I like FH5 a lot, actually! When you get past the first few hours of getting the story done, that is... I prefer A class and B class, though, as anything above that the physics makes your car super grippy, making the game feel too arcadey.
Yep forza horizon has super arcadey physics compared to forza motorsport (I dont know why) but I stopped playing forza horizon because of that
probably on purpose. If you want the hardcore sim racing, you have Forza, If you want some fun, you have Horizon. I don't have a working wheel setup rn, so I prefer FH as of now. It's not that bad, not even close to NFS or Burnout

But yeah I totally know what you mean on S cars being super arcadey. My Hoonicorn S2 is super drifty on road and dirt and tears up horizon arcade challenges, but racing, super ridiculous but fun sometimes.

Wreckfest is infinitely more of a racing game than FH5s stupidity is. All the ghosting tells you all you need to know about the "racing" in horizon.
@@focussport the ghosting is honestly a necessity at times, otherwise people will just ram you off the track especially on cross country races.
Also theres no way in hell wreckfest is more of a racing game than FH5. Theyre both sim-arcade but FH5 has much more in terms of tuning, car selection, and driving physics. Don’t let this one goofy video fool you.
Wreckfest helps with having community servers with moderators and admins. Playing random servers is crazy - busses driving the track backwards, people perfecting pit maneuvers, etc etc.

@@VerticalStrafes 🤷♂️ Drifting felt good to me, especially AWD cars (R34 was my go to). I do think the handling would've benefited from having a tuning menu. I always thought the real problems with the handling model handling were how heavy all the cars felt while also somehow having way too little downforce. The handling wasn't perfect but it still holds up to modern arcade racing games.
Steve doesnt post a lot of FH content but when he does it one of the best

really one of my biggest gripes is that most of the races are like 3 minutes long, so we spend nearly as much time loading into the next race as we do racing.
the generous ghosting, wall collision and other penalties make the game a bit more bearable in online multiplayer, but the loading times are really bad
it's wild to see how easily you handle those corners, how well you race, and easy you make it look. i feel like a complete noob. i think id finish dead last
