"Appeals more to the head than the heart"
That is the most apt way of describing this one. The 8th gen really was (and still is) a gem. With the CVT, Honda has probably already lost the boy racer segment of buyers... Perhaps the manual will come in a "sport" trim or some limited edition.. or maybe not. Nothing wrong with being optimistic about it.

  • @giridharkl4147

Almost 95% of us drive in day to day traffic and rarely go to the twisties to push the car and we know how much of a pain the manual gearbox is in the currently ever increasing city traffic. Honda has taken the more practical step of giving only the petrol automatic because they know that even if they introduce the manual, 90% of the people who are requesting manual here will still go and buy the automatic. For a company, the stats are more important for their business.
I am fine with the CVT and you should drive it in the city to know how it makes the car so effortless to drive in the city traffic. As Glen said, we can shift to the manual mode and have manual control with the paddles. HAPPY THAT HONDA BROUGHT THE ICON BACK TO INDIA. I bet people are going to fall just for its design, both inside and out.
Btw, nice review as always Glen. #PDArmy

Globally, the same engine is available with a 6 speed manual and there's also a 2L NA 6 speed manual there are plenty of engines including a 1L 3 Cyl turbo (CVT) that makes 127ps of power and 180NM of torque
There's also a Civic touring with a 1.5 turbo that puts out 180HP and 215 NM of torque with CVT
Plenty of options available and India gets 2 of the simplest or in other words "boring" combo.
    Well done Honda

    • @amitshrimali7635
      @amitshrimali7635 5 лет назад

      @@rpwzh5403 Hi
Civic's maintenance totally depends on in what condition you are able to find a used car (difficult to find). I do just one service in a year, which includes oil change majorly. If used carefully civic doesn't drill any holes in your pocket. Civic parts are very much available if you are staying in metro cities. I always get it serviced from a trusted but not company's workshop.
My civic has clocked around 80,000 kms and the major expenses i have incurred are replacing all suspension bushes (procured from Thailand as showroom ones were double the cost) and clutch assembly (it had become hard and also mentioned in 60,000 km service interval in service manual, cost 18000)
I don't know spare part cost of Honda City hence can't comment which will be easier on your pocket. But Civic is in different league altogether. City doesn't stand a chance in power, ride, driving dynamics and comfort.
Try to find a low mileage civic (around 50,000), don't step backwards to pay little extra for a well kept car. specifically check suspension condition, clutch and rattling noises.

I am disappointed with the engine choice I mean why don’t we get a 1.5 VTEC Turbo? And the 1.8 petrol only comes with a CVT?
Skoda vRS anyday and this comes from 8th gem civic 1.8 petrol manual 😎

i still like the civic, low midrange in the diesel is a concern. however honda being honda will price it ridiculously high, at that price cars like the Tucson appeals more not to forget the Octavia. im eagerly waiting for the civic luanch lets see, it all boils down to the price.

I have 2 questions, 1 When Octavia gets 170 odd HP power petrol engine at around similar price point why can't Honda, 2. At least 2 litre petrol engine which they already have powering CRV in India. I think Honda wants to make more money with less

Need a mighty effort to bring life to this D- segment. Not saying that this one not justifying but the segment itself sank, skoda / camry trying hard to revive and Civic joining the bandwagon good for the customer with the multiple options. Few years back the D segment cars used to do well in metros at least. Now people are all opting for SUVs. I think roads are to be blamed. Mostly due to waterlogging when it rains Heavly. Anyway This segment is almost end of its cruzing ( few may understand)

    • @monkeymind3067

Yea and is less practice than SUV
But to compete manufacture move towards sedan looking hatchback
More particle more foot space and foldable seats like SUV
Sadly this car doesn't provide much compared to their own Honda city
