Good morning #PDArmy! The Civic is back! Does it live up to your expectations? Let us know below, and remember to Like the video if you too have been eagerly waiting for its launch!
Waiting badly for this car I'm looking to buy this car but heard tyota Corolla new generation is coming what do you think about this will it be better than Honda civic new Generation or they'll bring manual transmission in the Honda civic the same thing they did with Honda city ZX variant
"Appeals more to the head than the heart" That is the most apt way of describing this one. The 8th gen really was (and still is) a gem. With the CVT, Honda has probably already lost the boy racer segment of buyers... Perhaps the manual will come in a "sport" trim or some limited edition.. or maybe not. Nothing wrong with being optimistic about it.
Almost 95% of us drive in day to day traffic and rarely go to the twisties to push the car and we know how much of a pain the manual gearbox is in the currently ever increasing city traffic. Honda has taken the more practical step of giving only the petrol automatic because they know that even if they introduce the manual, 90% of the people who are requesting manual here will still go and buy the automatic. For a company, the stats are more important for their business. I am fine with the CVT and you should drive it in the city to know how it makes the car so effortless to drive in the city traffic. As Glen said, we can shift to the manual mode and have manual control with the paddles. HAPPY THAT HONDA BROUGHT THE ICON BACK TO INDIA. I bet people are going to fall just for its design, both inside and out. Btw, nice review as always Glen. #PDArmy
Globally, the same engine is available with a 6 speed manual and there's also a 2L NA 6 speed manual there are plenty of engines including a 1L 3 Cyl turbo (CVT) that makes 127ps of power and 180NM of torque There's also a Civic touring with a 1.5 turbo that puts out 180HP and 215 NM of torque with CVT Plenty of options available and India gets 2 of the simplest or in other words "boring" combo. Well done Honda
It should have been a Honda CITY instead of Honda CIVIC !!, I think with those specs and features, it suites CITY segment and can give good competition!
Honda has got to get rid of those chrome bars at the front! They're ruining the look of the cars! On the other hand.. the new Civic's rear is much better looking than the front.. shall we say bootylicious!
No speed sensing door locks??? Really.. Even a wagonr has this feature. A car this costly, a legend from the past. Honda should have been more careful about safety features like this.
This is my dream car ... I would buy it even if there is a remote possibility of being available again in same avatar But dreams seldom comes true . Plzz Honda listen to us ... get this back to Indian markets .
The old interior was ahead of its time and can compete with todays top end cars as well. Honda should have done something else here. Also, honda should have the Type-R available in India, at least as an option.
I guess the resale value of the old civic might rise ;) It is timeless design! Honda should have let a Japanese guy design the civic and not an American!
Took a test drive and the ride and handling were superb Engine is disappointing as I didnt feel any noticeable difference over my old civic That chasis needs atleast 180hp and is capable of handling much more
Watching Honda Civic like this was bit painful and doesn't realeases adraline anymore, it was like a girl name Noor jahan speaking haryanwi. Still in love with the old one.
I think you guys totally negated the critical piece of information about the 1.8 iVtec being same (intake and exhaust tuned for slightly more power; 8PS) as the 8th gen civic being sold in India, and why Honda chose to omit the 1.5 TC engine. This is extremely off-putting for many people. Good to see you guys back to standard reviewing format.
"90% of the people who buys petrol sedans in this segment preffers automatics"...I don't know about that...but I'm sure none preffers CVT! Get your facts right Honda! 😑
Perfect verdict given by you Glen. The 10th gen Civic appeals more to the head rather than the heart which the previous Civic did. Come on Honda, at least you should have a given a torque converter for the Petrol AT rather than the CVT.
Old civic has tons of character which defined the segment, one of the best lookers even by todays standards. I don't think the new civic do justice to the old civic.

I really miss the classy and futuristic look of old CIVIC. the slopy design and really premium looking front grill. I don't know what honda is doing with the same grill right from amaze, city and civic.
I don't know why they have launched a Sedan, when the whole world is moving towards SUV. But,globally Civic is like Corolla to Toyota. But, it didn't sold in India like it did internationally. I think Honda City is the reason for that. Coz, it does almost everything that civic does, and costs very less.. Let's see if new Civic changes it..
PD doing Zigwheel reviews and vice versa! Glen seems to be absolutely forced to do the job. And Pd is now sticking to the standard review format. Looks like only Rohan alone is trying to even hold up to what PD meant in the first place.

I still remember the first time I saw the previous generation Civic on the road when it was launched in India.. One look and I went “wooaaahh it looks damn sexy !!” This one doesn’t do that.. but maybe it’s just cos all cars look good nowadays..

Glad to hear that feedback, Gaurav! We always try to be hands-on with cars and motorcycles, but that's not always possible with supercars and superbikes. Although, we can't, not tell you about them, right? ;)

Or should I opt for 2012-13 Honda City at same price, I'm confused need help, thanks in advance for your reply.
@@rpwzh5403 Hi Civic's maintenance totally depends on in what condition you are able to find a used car (difficult to find). I do just one service in a year, which includes oil change majorly. If used carefully civic doesn't drill any holes in your pocket. Civic parts are very much available if you are staying in metro cities. I always get it serviced from a trusted but not company's workshop. My civic has clocked around 80,000 kms and the major expenses i have incurred are replacing all suspension bushes (procured from Thailand as showroom ones were double the cost) and clutch assembly (it had become hard and also mentioned in 60,000 km service interval in service manual, cost 18000) I don't know spare part cost of Honda City hence can't comment which will be easier on your pocket. But Civic is in different league altogether. City doesn't stand a chance in power, ride, driving dynamics and comfort. Try to find a low mileage civic (around 50,000), don't step backwards to pay little extra for a well kept car. specifically check suspension condition, clutch and rattling noises.
@@mukundthorat5672 it has the manual transmission .New one has the same engine with minor increase in power figures and it's the lowest in the segment at par with the Corolla Altis coupled with a rubbish CVT.Just look at the Elantra and Skoda Octavia they are way more powerful
The boot space is exactly the same as the older Civic. Not increased or decreased by even 1 liter. Please fix this. You are comparing the boot space with the Type-R Civic which is a hatchback.
Great review.. I feel Octavia still makes more sense.. Now its all down to its pricing and lets see how well they does that.. I dont believe in Honda's market research otherwise they would not have offered just a manual in Diesel. If they could do it in the Amaze then why not with Civic??
The Skoda Octavia 1.8L TSI with a 7 speed DSG gearbox? Sorry, but the Civic just doesn't cut it. 140bhp with a CVT vs 180bhp with a DSG. I think we have a clear winner. It all comes down to how much cheaper the Civic is than the Octavia.

GAURAV DIKSHIT honda makes a 1.5 turbo and a 2.0 turbo. In india they didnt launch it cuz of shitty fuel. But they still launched it in pakistan. Even tho pakistans fuel isnt much better
The front of civic reminds me of amaze. The interiors are bland wrt the cockpit style that was synonymous with civic. If these are the first things that come to a consumer's mind I don't see a reason as to why they would pay a premium.
They should have opted of same Honda can't engine or 1.5turbo This engine 1.8 faces taxation for no extra power and becomes expensive And the laggy touchscreen is insulting at 20lakh
I am disappointed with the engine choice I mean why don’t we get a 1.5 VTEC Turbo? And the 1.8 petrol only comes with a CVT? Skoda vRS anyday and this comes from 8th gem civic 1.8 petrol manual 😎
i still like the civic, low midrange in the diesel is a concern. however honda being honda will price it ridiculously high, at that price cars like the Tucson appeals more not to forget the Octavia. im eagerly waiting for the civic luanch lets see, it all boils down to the price.
I have 2 questions, 1 When Octavia gets 170 odd HP power petrol engine at around similar price point why can't Honda, 2. At least 2 litre petrol engine which they already have powering CRV in India. I think Honda wants to make more money with less
Good review PD. Was eagerly waiting for this car. But petrol with only cvt is a bummer. Honda has lost many buyers because of this. Octavia still the best car in this segment.
.. Designed by a British person who has immense experience working with the German giants. it's the most German civic... Perhaps thats why it's soulless..
Honda has literally detoriated of its cars. I have been thinking of going for the Honda City way back from 2014. But the 2021 shape really dissapointed me. Will go for a pre owned City with less kms driven😚 and put a small spoiler, just for mental satisfaction, (if I dont get the zx variant)😆
Need a mighty effort to bring life to this D- segment. Not saying that this one not justifying but the segment itself sank, skoda / camry trying hard to revive and Civic joining the bandwagon good for the customer with the multiple options. Few years back the D segment cars used to do well in metros at least. Now people are all opting for SUVs. I think roads are to be blamed. Mostly due to waterlogging when it rains Heavly. Anyway This segment is almost end of its cruzing ( few may understand)
Yea and is less practice than SUV But to compete manufacture move towards sedan looking hatchback More particle more foot space and foldable seats like SUV Sadly this car doesn't provide much compared to their own Honda city
Give Away the cvt is not bad but I enjoy mine with manual. The manual is durable so far but shifter a bit vague. Acuity makes great modification parts for it.
This car deserves a 1.5 litre turbo petrol manual or a DSG and not a CVT. Big downer on that point But man nothing looks better then this in the streets..

I have my boards from Thursday but here i am. Watching powerdrift.
Hey, all the best, Sushant!
We hope the video refreshes you enough for a binge studying session!
The old civic was the really the civic.
Surely looks and sound good to the brain.. the older one is more close to our hearts...
i still like the civic, low midrange in the diesel is a concern. however honda being honda will price it ridiculously high, at that price cars like the Tucson appeals more not to forget the Octavia. im eagerly waiting for the civic luanch lets see, it all boils down to the price.
True.... if they start it at 14lac for petrol and 16 for diesel Is still fine ..
Man.. I love the.... New design... It looks futuristic 😍😍
I have 2 questions, 1 When Octavia gets 170 odd HP power petrol engine at around similar price point why can't Honda, 2. At least 2 litre petrol engine which they already have powering CRV in India. I think Honda wants to make more money with less
we dont get this bcose Indians prefer mileage... they are not to blame but people are.. Thats y we get detuned cars
@@GamerGoneMad for your information Honda 1.5 litre turbo gives around 15 km per litre which is nor far behind of of 16.5 claimed
You are right companies like Hyundai is providing petrol engine options
This car doesn't has that appeal for which the Civic is known. I would definitely go for Elantra rather than buying this.
I found this review quite honest. Others are just blushing over this car. Like how you picked up the lock thing, and the cheap keys xD
You reviewed the wrong Civic. Diesel is dead. There is no money being spent anymore on passenger diesels.
Was actually waiting for you guys seriously 😁😁😁
Civic type R was the real 'Civic'
Good review PD. Was eagerly waiting for this car. But petrol with only cvt is a bummer. Honda has lost many buyers because of this. Octavia still the best car in this segment.
Civic had a corvette inspired look, should've continued that!!
honda's design is becoming hopeless since 2012 be it the jazz, new CRv and now this one
..
This has a bmw Gt inspired look ☺️
Give us the 1. 5 turbo with a 6 speed manuel 😍
Or you could just buy a Skoda Octavia.
That music is awesome, 😍
It blends beautifully with the car and the video
Looks Soulless compared to the one we had years ago.
..
Designed by a British person who has immense experience working with the German giants.
it's the most German civic...
Perhaps thats why it's soulless..
It's stunning to look at.Just see it in real.
@@Dpak1980 damn true...I wish they introduced the 1.5 turbo
The petrol engine definitely deserves a mannual gearbox. They can still keep the CVT but bringing in a mannual wouldn't be that trouble.
Bro if they bring petrol manual transmission and people will love it
Rasim Kazi People will love the manual transmission but hardly anyone would buy it.
I am too waiting for the Petrol Manual to launch. Hope Honda does it soon
Honda has literally detoriated of its cars.
I have been thinking of going for the Honda City way back from 2014. But the 2021 shape really dissapointed me. Will go for a pre owned City with less kms driven😚
and put a small spoiler, just for mental satisfaction, (if I dont get the zx variant)😆
Yea and is less practice than SUV
But to compete manufacture move towards sedan looking hatchback
More particle more foot space and foldable seats like SUV
Sadly this car doesn't provide much compared to their own Honda city
It looks amazing both for exterior and interior. I would definitely buy this car if I had the money but would wait for petrol manual
Give Away the cvt is not bad but I enjoy mine with manual. The manual is durable so far but shifter a bit vague. Acuity makes great modification parts for it.
4.32 Transmission tunnel? For what? A FWD??
Eagle eyes :)
NO manual in a petrol Civic. How would one will be able to enjoy 1.8 iVtec? Enthusiasts are disappointed for sure. Nice one PD. Keep rocking
This car deserves a 1.5 litre turbo petrol manual or a DSG and not a CVT.
Big downer on that point
But man nothing looks better then this in the streets..
Arrival is just too late. Maybe, they could spice things a little with Type-R.
That would make things really interesting, but then, Honda would have to price it really well.
Best test video up till now.. perfectly described the civic.
Save 5L & buy 1.5 manual Petrol City !!!! Still much more fun than Civic !!!!
It looks like the 2020 model was launched in 2010 and the 2010 model is launched today hahaha
Love my civic rs with 1.5 turbo petrol and makes 173 ps of power
