    Legitimately one of the most inspiring videos I’ve ever seen. Too often we get stuck in a “more gear just for the sake of having it” feedback loop and lose the creative and inspiring side of what these awesome things can do, but you always focus on the beautiful and magical side of things and I always finish your videos just wanting to create. Thank you!
    Also, I particularly love that Dimension C patch for the H9. Any chance you could share how you built it?

    The stereo signal is sick. The range of this board is bonkers. I hear deep funk height, mod synth width, and movie score depth. The gigless pandemic took me down this exact same path. The BIG difference is you’re doing it right. You hit your conceptual mark. This is definitely a performance board. I really like where this is going.

  • @sydb
    @sydb 8 месяцев назад

    genuinely impressive rig & rundown... how are you managing midi cable run? assuming main clocks the microcosm?

    • @ZacharyRizer
      @ZacharyRizer  8 месяцев назад

      So I have an optional external Midi in on the side of the board. So in theory anything could be the master clock and trigger the whole board. But if nothing is plugged into that external jack, then the Microcosm is the master, into the Volante, and then H9, and finally the Murf. Only using Midi for clock, no PC or CC messages being sent.

    Amazing board! Interesting that you went with the B.E.A.D over say, the DOOM 2. What's your opinion on the two? I'm definitely interested in getting hold of the B.E.A.D. Thanks!

    • @ZacharyRizer
      @ZacharyRizer  2 года назад +1

      They're both amazing. The Doom is probably more synthy sounding, but it is quite tame for a fuzz. I love the pinched buzzy character of Brassmaster fuzzes. So the BEAD was a solid compromise for me between synthy fuzz and normal bass fuzz.

    Zach - any advice / resources on how exactly you've gone about clocking the tempo between your pedals? I'm looking to do something similar with an H9, nemesis delay, and ottobit jr.
    This is an incredible video btw - as are all your demos. So good to hear someone playing to get the best out of the gear, rather than just trying to jam blues licks through everything...

    • @ZacharyRizer
      @ZacharyRizer  Год назад +1

      All midi clock. Pick a device to be Master. I'd probably go with the H9 because it functions well in this roll. Then send the mid out to the nemesis, and then from the nemesis midi out to the Meris midi box (plugged into the Ottobit). And make sure everything is setup to receive/transmit midi clock.

    Cheers Zach!

    • @ZacharyRizer
      @ZacharyRizer  Год назад

      So first off, expression pedals have potentiometers in them with different values. So different expression pedals will have different sweeps. But also you have to find the sweet spot on the pedal where it freezes. Can't just rock it full forward and full back.

    I love but can never fully understand my Murf-105. I usually use it as a smooth phaser/vibe with an expression in the filter for some fold-over effects..bank 6 or 8. Sometimes as a tremolo with bank 5(?). Murf could use his own channel to fully explore.

  • @JosephElsherbini

    Two basic questions as I'm just getting into effects pedals on bass. Does an analog tracking octaver like the OC-2 always struggle on low notes? I have a Queequeg 2 from KMA and it has a really hard time tracking when I play below the 5th fret on the E string, and even sometimes on the A string. I'm using a passive pickup bass and I tried the octaver both straight out of the guitar and after a preamp. Second question, I notice on reverb there are tons of versions of the BEAD fuzz, like v3.1,v3.2, v.3.3, etc. Do you know if any of those correspond to the changes you said were made to the blend knob?

    • @ZacharyRizer
      @ZacharyRizer  2 года назад +1

      1. All pitch based effects will have different degrees of tracking issues, but analog octavers are known to not track great on the lowest notes. Clean technique goes a long way in helping with fast tracking.
      2. I don't remember which BEAD is exactly like mine, but I think any of the V3's are. You just want to get one with the tone control (low pass filter) on the dry signal if you want it to be like mine. Also the .1 .2 .3 aspect of the V3's are all the same except for the aesthetics I'm pretty sure.

    • @TheUnknownBass

      Octave pedals in general are best used higher up on bass. Most example of OC2 use in music is generally above the 7th fret. I find anything below a B on a 4 string bass enter muddy sub territory.

    Effect wise I am having a very similar pedal and effects setup. Except I am using an Empress Zoia for some of the Modulation and reverb stuff. Now my question, because I somehow don’t find an answer for it:
    Which Bass-Amp are you using or are you using a bass amp at all?

  • @JoeMM5
    @JoeMM5 2 года назад

    Yo there’s a long while left so it might be answered later but I’m not sure why you would put the OC2 after the hog since I can only think of useful combinations with OC2 before hog, so is there much reasoning there? Loving the video so far, you’re use of pedals has been very inspirational for my own music for a while now!

    Can you provide more context on why you ended up choosing the Empress Bass compressor over the Cali76? In your Cali76 pedal overview video I remember you saying "I just cannot get this thing to sound bad - its just such a beautiful compression circuit. it sounds rich and warm all the time." I would've expected it to be the one to get the love on your new board.
