I believe that the SAAB 96 design is still the best of any 2WD car in snow.... tall thin wheels/tyres, good weight distribution, clutchless gear change + left foot braking and not too powerful. I miss my 96s !
Nice. Saw a 1989 saab 900 turbo for sale the other day. Wanted 5k for it. So tempting to buy since i already own a saab engine clone in saturn skin. Only difference is mine is supercharged whereas theirs was turbo. Gotta love that LSJ engine
it's interesting to see even ng93 (SportSedan) is already taking part in this :) would be interested to know how successful the drivers really are compared to competitors.
100% correct, in my Sportcombi with the 5MT id hang out in arguably too high of a range in second gear for probably 3/4 of the circuits shown here hahaha
It feels odd to me that of the 99/OG900,. all of the cars were either 2-door or 4-door. there were no 3-door (hatchback) models... Were they just not as common for rally mods, or is there something about the OG900 3-door that made them less useful for rally use?
99 eules- my first car was a 99 from -71 BUT with 2.0 li engine with double carbs. = GLs, big blinkers in front and in rear. = rebuild. 4-speed manual 3000 rpm on 4th gear = 90 km/mh. A lovele car: Nowadays the registrationsnumber is gine to a Skoda Fabia 1.4. WTF what a disdimor. Check out for yourself AGE214
Which is kinda odd seeing as most are front wheel drive. Unless some of these were converted to allwheel drive or use the XWD saab put into its later 2000s cars.
@@larszenthio1012 well considering how glitched the past 2000s Saabs are I don't blame them. Most saab owners I know of who have the xwd system don't really put it to the test and it requires a lot of maintenance.
Is it just me but don't those newer Saabs look rather bland with no character ? The 96's & 99's have bags of character & a great history in world rallying .

Brilliant to see some SAABs for a change, nice video and nice sound and no shit music. 100%.
the Saab 96 and 99 make really good rally cars, but my goodness the ng900/og93's are absolute monsters on the rally course
Man, I loved my 89' 900GLE, my 90' 900, my 94' 900Turbo Conv. and my current 01' Viggen but... the 99 makes the best rally car ever, hands down!

How involved do you think an ng93 build would be? What would it need?
Much more fun than watching the WRC rally with only 3 car brands should go back to original factory cars like this
I almost forgot to watch this daily.
It seems as though many of these ng93 cars are in need of different gear ratios.

i imagine its expensive to crash a hatchback saab. they are increasingly rare nowadays
@@wyattrogers8689 It is too rear-heavy for rallying. However, it is popular in folk races. (Sweden's answer to carcross/rallycross)

My dream is to start rallying, perferably in a saab
Does anyone know the model of that SAAB at 3:00 ?
saab 99 ems
The Saab 99 seemed fastest around the track. The OG93 in number two. Pretty darn good for mostly fwd. except the 99 which was rear if I remember right
I had a 75 99 ems, front wheel drive. Wish I still had that car.
SAAB has never manufactured rear-wheel drive cars. Only Front Wheel Drive and SAAB X models, which was 4-WD. 👍😉
I have a 99' og9-3 2 door that's loud and blows off constantly so I think it's time to rally that bad boy
The old saabs might be old, but they are great rally cars.

@@billybuchanan385 FWD only. Nobody drives rallies with SAAB xwd in Sweden or abroad.

I understand that they rally race in Volvo's. Why? Lol
Why??
