What a beautiful video. Thank you! In the minute 9:20 of the video, 21.07.1993 is shown as the press day of the Swedes and for the inhabitants of Trollhättan. Exactly on this date my SAAB 900 Classic was registered for the first time. 21.07.1993! What a great coincidence!
I was there in the square in Trollhättan when they show it for the people in Trollhättan. I was not old I was just 7 years old then. But in 2005 did I start to work in the factory. 🙂
I visited the museum in September 2024, we stayed in Trollhattan for a couple of nights. I really liked the city, everyone is friendly, speak excellent English. We spent a great Saturday evening in the Savoy bar/restaurant.
Building it on the GM2900 platform with Vectra front structure and twist-beam rear axle was the first big nail in the coffin for Saab. Really nice interior and good engines.
They put a lot into the model launch. Sadly it was too little too late. Saab customers were not fooled by the GM900, which was really a reskinned Cavalier/Vectra. It was loathed by Saab enthusiasts. I recognised some people in the video, not just Eric. It was great to see the images of the town centre. I really like Trollhattan.
