How does Banksy actually make money? Is Banksy the graffiti artist rich or is Banksy poor?
The street artist known as Banksy belongs to what is sometimes called the “Bristol Scene,” which includes creatives from different genres, notably music. You’ve probably heard of some of the artists that are or were part of this scene, including Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky. Graffiti was also a big part of the scene, and while there were many artists around, the one you’ve all heard of is Banksy. His stenciling style is known all over the world, as are his attacks on the establishment and what he sees as human rights abuses. It’s said he was expelled from school as a kid, and took to the streets to paint on walls. No one is certain who he really is as he keeps his identity secret, although there is lots of speculation as to his real identity. But how does a disestablishment hero like Banksy actually earn a living? Welcome to this episode of the Infographics Show, How does Banksy make money?

Can you explain how Tik Tok makes money?
I BLAME CAPITALISM BUT ITS SO INGRAINED IN OUR DNA NOW ITS ALMOST LIKE A HARD RESTART WOULD BE NEEDED BUT COULD WE, AS A PEOPLE, TAKE THAT? ESPECIALLY IN A TIME WHEN WE'RE SO CHALLENGED AND PULLED AND STRETCHED IN SO MANY DIRECTIONS

jordan amosa technically he’s stealing private property so ya he is right

There's a video where he allegedly got caught it Sydney Australia, tells the girl filming to F#*k off
according to Steve Aoki, Banksy is a 'she'
chipsthedog1 I think that video has been debunked as a fraud. It could also really be him and his friends are saying it’s a fraud to throw ppl off.
"I wish my art would stay where it meant to stay"
Every graffiti artist's wish. Also, every graffiti artist's realization is that it never lasts forever.
I lived in NYC during the late 80s/early 90s and I would see absolutely beautiful pieces painted over or power washed off walls. It killed me to see them get erased like that because a lot of them added to the liveliness of the area. Of course that's not counting the dumbasses that sprayed their tag name in black all over the place.
Mau5 Fan he is
@TheDusk420 He's a graffiti artist. Street artist's are paid to do their art. Banksy's are done without consent, hence graffiti art.

Ph4nt0m And.... you’ve ruined the joke
*transatlantic accent* How does Banksy make bank, see?
If I were Banksy, instead of being angry of my art having great value, I would go to an estate/project full of struggling people and paint on their properties (cars, bikes, etc.) , so they can later sell it and make easy millions. It's a great way to understand capitalism and help the poor.
Then his art wouldn’t be worth as much
@@poolfert9963 Values on art isn't easily predictable. It would depend on whose selling it, and the buyers. If Banksy's art is in the ghetto, the seller could be any kind of person, from a good but struggling family to a lone druggie. They would ask for a low amount, likely, but even then an easy $2000 helps alot. Now the buyers in the other hand... there's insufferable tokenism in England, especially in the modern art community. There's a chance someone whose been graffiti'd by Banksy could take advantage of that and sell his piece for a lot for their benefit. If I had 3 hungry mouths to feed, I would.
Edit: struggling*

🤔🤔🤔
The world may never know...
Only if it's done by banksy's hand himself
Someone might steal that arm. That would be scary. 😅
Theres a radio play about exactly that,
There is story about picasso on the beach. A couple sitting near recognized him and sent their five year son with a piece of paper and a pen, boy ask him to draw something for him. Picasso took the pen and draw and even signed on the boy's chest. Boy was delighted bv and run back to parents. Picasso then commented to a friend:" poor boy, the wont let him in water for days..."
Roald Dahl wrote a short story called "Skin" about this exact idea. A tattoo by Soutine is found on an old beggar's back. I wont spoil the story but it didn't end well for the Tattooee.

I just subbed to you, my friend.. I’m an artist so I love your videos. Sub back too so I can see your work periodically again.
they the same bro really.. just some graffiti don't qualify as art. that's from a street graffiti artist..
Street art IS graffiti. A lot has a great meaning behind it but the ones you'll sometimes, and more often see, have no real meaning than just tagging.
Back home , there is a great alley way as well as an underground culture for street art. São Paulo is where you find some of the greatest pictures I have seen.
Banksy, however, I admire. Stands up for what's he believes in and I find myself agreeing.
Art should be free to people who want to experience it and not sold just for rich people to trade here and there.
Get tax right off and such. Leave street art be where people can see it and enjoy it.
Where it was made to sit And be seen.
Only art that should be sold is art that is specifically created to be sold. It's not a bad profession but it should only be sold with permission of the artist creating it.
it's called tedtalk but who is ted?!
(this is a joke btw)
Street art is different from graffiti. It's simple. if it hasn't got letters, it's not graffiti.

First of all, Banksy is great, and I fully approve of his art and its meaning, intention and his ideology of giving his work freely, but I wish I knew more about how his art actually benefits the people the art intends to fight for. I'm sure a lot of his art which has been sold has gone into the pockets of someone who really doesn't need it, and surely not someone which the artwork was in tented to highlight/benefit. Its kind of tricky, and in NO WAY a criticism of Banksy, as his art does massively benefit the intended subject (maybe not via primary financing). And I'm pretty sure Banksy is probably extremely wealthy, certainly comfortable, so it's hard to take some of his artwork fully at its worth based on that. But let me say, again, Banksy's ideology is genius and can only be commended. His art really is true, true art and nothing, NOTHING (especially a mere RUclips comment) , can take that away from him. I just struggle to see how his art style can, primarily, do anything more than line pockets of people who don't need it. Yes, the message gets out massively, but the weak, vulnerable and desperate really could do with the financial benefits. Maybe there is something to be said for for the owners of the canvases, in regards this... but if Banksy means what he means, surely he should consider the financial aspect for the people he's highlighting.
Cool dude!
It's all for the love and the message the art brings money is just a bonus real art lovers can appreciate that each piece he does is priceless bc of the thought and the moment he was in when they were created. You can reproduce but not duplicate the originals message or intent fully.

These guys think anything can be art
Cause anything can be art, it's all about perception. Someone tapping a pencil on a desk can just be simply that, or it could be music depending on how you perceive it. Anything can be held in high regard if enough people like it or can find meaning in it.
Art, by definition, is something created rationally to express something. Banksy put the shredder on the frame with definitely an intent to criticize that kind of act. So, yes, probably you can consider it art.
Art simply defined or it's etymology = " to do, to act" Banksy pushes the envelope, our perceptions, advancing all that stood before, reinventing it, transcending accepted norms etc.,etc., etc.,
"Nature abhors a vacuum" (The King And I ) shall we dance???
Seriously... Goodnight...Stay Well All !!!
Anything can be art.
