It's called a pin, these are used to secure the weapons and they didn't forget, these are only taken off right before takeoff, after the plane taxis to the runway
Love the f16. It’s always been my favorite behind the tomcat. Such a beautiful nimble reliable plane. It’s gonna be sad when they ever get decommissioned.
Please enlarge and freeze at 3:48 - 3:49, you'll clearly notice the small communications' plug exiting Major's HGU-55 helmet at lower left side - just beneath that black rubber hose - doesn't have any cable being connected, like instead it had been through almost 60 years of different flight helmets. This does apply in the video to some (but, not all) of these helmets. The ones at 7:30 and 8:12 for example, show the said cable as being connected. It appears that starting at some point (maybe early 2000s but not easy for me getting more precise infos) many fighter pilots at least in the Air Force, use a set of tiny earphones (3:13) directly put inside their ears. The much thinner cables coming from them will joint below, doing sort of a 'Y', and will connect to oxygen mask's own plug, that in turn does carry pilot's talking from the mask-mounted microphone. At this point (as always has been) only one cable serving both purposes does run to the onboard radio plugging. This one plus the hyper-sophisticated tracking system carried to the helmet visor by weapons' control apparatus, are the two major departures from a (relatively) standardized way of designing these items. Great and interesting video altogether. Greetings from Italy.

13:56 The second jet on the screen did NOT have sub-wing markers (those red ribbons that say remove before flight) removed by the runway assistant. What problems may occur in such a situation?
Mehboob khan that is a ground safety pin and will be removed at the end of the taxi just before taking the runway. The pin will be reinserted when the aircraft returns. Hopefully the bomb won’t be still there which means it was left on some bad guys tank or airfield.
When you are about half way on the air to your destination; unfortunately, you accidentally have an diarrhea and your tummy is going to burst, what do you do?
Basically a torso harness but also the G-suit is attached to their legs but the parachute and survival kit is attached to the seat itself. The survival kit attached the seat cushion/pan assembly and parachute attached to the headrest.
Good note on the parachute though for training aircraft like the T-38 that is very old school so the student and instructor wear their parachute the entire time from suit up, walk, preflight, flight and back to the flight gear room to remove gear for debrief.
Dude, it’s the New Jersey National Guard. They’re flying pre-Gulf War hand me downs. Google Raytheon Trophy and find the 493rd Fighter Squadron. Lakenheath Eagles baby! Wooooo!
terry waller unless they do guard or reserve. Guard and reserve units typically select pilots through their enlisted and send them to OTS, and pilot training.
Every potential pilot goes through initial training as a single platform training aircraft. After making it through there then you get screened for a platform (fighter, bomber, tanker, cargo, rotary wing etc....). Selection is based on what platforms are available and your class ranking. If you are going through pilot training for Reserve or Guard then your aircraft is picked for you based on the assigned aircraft to that unit. You could be active duty and #1 in the class and want fighters. If there are no fighter slots available for your class then it doesn’t matter. All Pilots say they want to fly fighters but not as easy as it looks. Screening, initial training, Medical, centrifuge, class ranking can all conspire against you. Remember as a fighter pilot it is for the most part you alone. Yes you can radio or your wingmen can help but the majority of the hands on problem solving is you. That decision making ability comes with training, skills, experience, confidence and judgement. Those factors and arrogance aside the pilot training for US is probably the best in the world and that includes military and commercial. Most airline pilots come from military and can show proven ability, skills and judgment needed to make quick, logical and safe decisions to save not only the aircraft and passengers but reduce further damage.
Then it wouldn’t fulfill its role as a light fighter. There is a reason we have the F15, F22, and F18. They have different uses than a light fighter like the F16.

13:56 The second jet on the screen did NOT have sub-wing markers (those red ribbons that say remove before flight) removed by the runway assistant. What problems may occur in such a situation?
Maybe because it just landed??
0:30, on the right - "do not paint". *is painted*
What is the purpose of that thing that looks like a spear, on the end of the F-16's nose?
Pitot tube. Measures ram air pressure vs static pressure to calculate airspeed.
Thanks! I would never have guessed that. It looks a lot different to me then a Pitot tube on a commercial aircraft.
a spear to ram an enemy aircraft in case you run out of ammo.

What are the pilots carrying in the back of their harness, looks too small to be a parachute.
The parachute is in the upper part of the seat behind the headrest.
