After making this video, I found the quart capacity for the RR cooler. It is listed as 39.7 Quarts which is smaller than my estimation.
Sounds like I’d go with the cheaper one. I’m not cooler expert though…I’ve had the same cooler for nearly 25 years now and it was given to me as a wedding gift 😁👍
Sounds like there is no reason to change what's been working for you.
I just bought the lifetime 55 on wheels and took it on a 3 day camping trip in high 70's low 50's at night. I didn't do anything special like pre-cooling just added food, beer and 21 pounds of ice. Was in the cooler several times over the weekend and 72 hours later there is still a small amount of ice. I can't complain for $149!
That’s about my experience as well. I really don’t have any complaints.
Great video!!
A few years back I got a "Coleman 100 Quart Xtreme 5 Day Heavy Duty Cooler with Wheels" to go along with a smaller version. At the time I paid $62. They probably have stopped making now...
I got it because I am in the South and I need to get my deer on ice ASAP. What I can tell you is that I have taken rear legs, front shoulders, etc to cut up and have found ice crystals on the meat surface. Nothing that would be an issue but impressive. And I need to wear those coated work gloves (the ones in bulk packaging) when I am cutting up the meat because it's so cold!! And any bags of ice I need to buy (not much) can be drained off and put into the freezer to use for the next one.
I use empty gallon jugs of Buck Jam filled with water and frozen in my coolers and I am quite sure that big block of ice helps the performance. Use any type of jug that is more flat rather than shaped like a milk jug. 2 liter soft drink bottles work well also.
I got the ozark trail cooler from Walmart last year and it’s around the same price tag as the life time. I was overall impressed as the one I purchased had the light inside, a removable bucket divider, and it kept ice well. Was super useful for deer season and I didn’t have to drop the money on name brand coolers.
Nice, Thanks for sharing.
Glad to see the Budget Sportsman back in action!!
I'm trying!!!
Thanks for the video. I’ve been eyeballing the RR cooler for a while now. I went to buy a Yukon outfitters rolling cooler today at the Ace Hardware where my in-laws live because it is $50 cheaper than anywhere else. Did some last minute research (I had already done a lot) and decided against it. That’s when I saw they had all their RR stuff for 25% off so I grabbed one. This’ll probably be replacing my 20 year old Coleman steel belted cooler. It works perfectly fine but just doesn’t have great ice retention. I’m also excited because I’m a kayaker and want to get this thing on the water. Both floating and on my kayak. The weight is huge for me here as my sit on top only has so much weight capacity.
I’m really glad I came across the lifetime cooler review you did because I’ve seen it at my Walmart and will probably get one too for my longer trips. It’s a great price. Im looking forward to getting rid of my crappy coolers that don’t hold ice at all. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching. I would just say be a little careful with the Rugged Road. Mine has got some pretty significant dings. It won't hold up like the lifetime will, but it is definitely lightweight.
good stuff thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Performance at a solid price point keeps Lifetime on top IMO, that might change at some point. But I’ve always been pleased with the ice retention for the price. Great video buddy.
I agree!
I’ve used the cabela’s off brand yeti. It’s heavy and has a small compartment. Im going to look into the lifetime cooler. Thanks.
I’ve been pleased with the lifetime Paul.
If you haven’t seen it here is my full review.

Thanks for the comparison. There’s really nothing compelling about that rugged brand cooler. And It really seems like a lifetime. Has knocked it out of the park. If I reach A point where I need a larger cooler, I think that will be the one. Or the non-wheeled version.
Does the lifetime also have a lifetime warranty?
I am not sure. I looked at their website and did not see the length of time for the warranty.
Not in your lifetime!
Next test..practicality: fill it with food and ice and see how long the ice lasts in the sun in July/August
I'd be surprised if it held ice past 3-4 days tops
There are a ton of variables to that test such as wether you are using frozen food or not, how often you open the cooler etc. You are correct the real world testing will not last that long and I was not trying to imply that it would. I was just commenting on a side by side comparison.
@@TheBudgetSportsman I know
If you are spending the money i would get a pelican
I'd rather have the Rugged, but no way I'm paying rotomolded prices for what is essentially a cheap blowmolded cooler.
The rugged road is far from rugged. Since this review I’ve found that with minimal use I now have dings that have gone all the way through the exterior into the foam. Personally I prefer the lifetime. Weight is the only advantage of the rugged road.
@@TheBudgetSportsman Yeah, I feel like they are ripping people off at those prices.
It's not "cheap", rather "inexpensive". I can't stand when people misuse the word cheap. Really ruins a review, as it did this one. Two thumbs down. 👎👎
cheap:
1. (of an item for sale) low in price; worth more than its cost.
2. at or for a low price.
I’m failing to see how I used the word incorrectly. If that word bothers you so much, why did you click on the video to begin with 🤷🏻♂️
Don’t even watch this. There’s no testing, no actual anything except this guy talking about nothing for the entire video. Don’t even waste your time.
I tested the cooler in the last video that you chose to turn off before I got to the testing. I’m just going to assume you’re having a bad day and wish you with all sincerity that you find the cooler you’re looking for and that your day improves from here on out.
Whit tf said 150 dollars is cheap?
Comparatively. The lifetime cooler preforms like a $350 yeti cooler. It far out preforms a “cheap” cooler.
