  • Hi, there. In this video, I'll be telling you how to use wire guardians, also known as wire protectors to make your jewelry not only more beautiful but more durable. Wire guardians, also known as wire protectors are a great way to add not only beauty to your project but also make it much more durable. And the way they work, they're these little horseshoe-shaped pieces but on the two ends they are actually tubes and then around the rounded part it's actually a channel. And the way it works is that once you've strung some jewelry, so if you had a bunch of beads on a piece of bead stringing wire, then you just slide your wire. Well, first you would slide on a crimp and then you slide your wire into one of the tubes and then out through the other.
Now if you're finished for your jewelry has a closed loop like this toggle bar, you need to remember to put it on before you slide this wire back through your crimp and crimp it and finish it. But as you can see, when you wear a piece of jewelry like this and these are usually used on necklaces and bracelets, there's quite a bit of wear that happens right at this point of the wire as the bracelet is worn and it's moving and so what this wire guardian does is protect the wire from being abraded so you'll know that your jewelry is going to be long-lasting. And also the wire guardian adds a bit of color instead of having the bead stringing wire showing. And you can find wire guardians in all different finishes. These are silver-plated, these are gold-plated. You can find them in base metal. You can find them in gun metal, antique gold, just about any color that will suit your jewelry.
