Can’t believe you’ve also got this knife! I’ve had both the tanto and drop point versions for the past 4 months and used the tanto daily. So impressed with the D2 and the general utilitarian nature of this handy little tanto🏆 Excellent review 👍🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻
Well generally, this is out of the scope I normally choose for my knives as I like a bigger knife but I saw it in a shop and wanted to just "try it out" and certainly this tanto version is like having a small wood working chisel with you.
@@stonedape3285 that’s such a tough choice… If I could only keep one, it would be the drop point version. Aesthetically it’s better looking and the blade style/profile makes it a more practical all rounder for everyday use🏆 But having said all that, I have a soft spot for tanto’s and my tanto version really is sporting heavy wear marks, which is the sign of a happy knife IMHO😊
LOL, you have now! Thanks for watching. Actually this works well mainly because the hand is literally on top of the blade and a lot of control and force directed right into the wood. if you take a tanto of much longer length, if the hand wavers a bit then that push, instead of being directed downwards gets directed all over the place, maybe left maybe right. I can do it with my larger and longer tanto's but it is more difficult.
Hi, thanks for watching. The second small knife is from Pohl Force, it is one of their earlier designed "finger knives" , the actual model is called the "Compact One SW" (SW, for stone washed version). Manufactured in D2 tool steel. Place of manufacture is Taiwan.
Was looking for a review on this knife and found your channel. Nice review. Checked out a few more of your videos and really enjoyed them. New subscriber. I see you are in Spain but your accent sounds South African? Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. Have a great day!
Mine is # 0631. I think of it as more of a workshop knife, good chisel function and other workers aren't going to be freaked out by a huge knife in their vicinity. Its easy to carry a bigger knife or a small axe outdoors and away from other people.
Which one the Seiko Prospex or that 300m chunky Eco Drive LOL! O love them both. BTW thery are thoroughly reviewed here on my channel and also on my blog. Thanks for watching.!
There some some good things about tantos for sure one being easier to sharpen and two usually (but not always) good at penetration tasks and "drilling/twisting" into wood. Thanks for commenting and watching
Got this knife for 40 dollars on Amazon and my nephew kept asking me if he could have it. I finally told him he could take it I’ll order another one and the price went up to 60 dollars! Now I have to decide if I want to ask him to give it back or just order another one😂. Great little sturdy knife
Good choice with the lightweight saw. Incredibly smooth cut too. I am not a fan of Tanto point, other than the chisel function, which you demonstrated well. Clip and Drop point both slice, sharpen, skin, stab, and gut much better in my experience. Nor I am crazy about small handled knives either. The knife did a good job batoning, and the grip looked firm with jimping also. I appreciate you trying different knives, even ones I may not choose.
Hi there, yeah I know what you mean for sure, u'd destroy a skin trying anything with tanto's like this. The drop point is like the bike, u can re invent it numerous ways but it's a drop point and probably "king: for a lot of tasks out bush. That saw is a Japanese made Silky and it was blunt and I need a new blade. I have a great rep for deadly smooth cuts so one can be ready to basically do some serious wood working with it. Highly recommend them.
Many people ask. Most Astronauts wear two. LOL, I'm no astronaut. The Seiko Baby Tuna was a gift from my aged mother 90 and in her words: "before I lose my mind I want to give you (a a new dive watch she gave me my first serious Seiko dive watch which got used constantly diving-battery quartz-slim line) this to replace your old Eco drive dive watch" The one on my right, the Eco Drive is one I bought later (secondhand- the owner had never used it for diving) as I wanted that model but could not buy it when she was getting the Seiko for me. There you go eh? bet you never expected this as an answer LOL. But of course 2 is 1, one is none for sure!
Ok then I'm afraid my channel isn't for you. Fair enough. I make reviews in the field, that means 100% (almost always unless in a cave) the subject matter is lit by natural light. I don't choose/restrict myself to days to go out on purpose, because it happens to be sunny and or not windy) because this is unrealistic. I randomly pick up timber from the ground or surrounding vegetation, no pre cut material lumber from the timber yards etc etc. I know the lighting was poor on this day, that I'm not able to control (I'm not going to use artificial lighting etc.) You will find I'm one of the few channels out there who still performs many (if not all) "field reviews" actually in the field, it's a big task in reality and of course a whole lot more difficult than simply talking about something over my desk inside my house or out in the garage etc. where most things are under my control.
Nice video, I have ordered one and can't wait to receive it
Glad you liked my video! Thanks for watching!

Whats best the tanto or the drop point?

Obtained the tanto for a relative as self a defense blade. They were very pleased.
Great in depth review!!
Many thanks!
Good looking little knife! Seems like quite the performer for the size. Another great review/demonstration - thanks Francis!
It's not a bad little knife at all.
Great review! Subscribed
Much appreciated
Never considered the tanto for chiselling feathers. So simple but never seen anyone else do it

@@BushCampingTools so all in all do you really recommend that knife? I can get it here in the Uk and I am a bit biased towards tantos lol
This little thing is honestly adorable haha. Looks really thick and durable for it's size too.
It works way better than that PF I bought for X3 the price! What an idiot I was! But that's so you guys and gals don't make similar mistakes (IMHO).
Great review, what is the second drop point knife?
Hi, thanks for watching. The second small knife is from Pohl Force, it is one of their earlier designed "finger knives" , the actual model is called the "Compact One SW" (SW, for stone washed version). Manufactured in D2 tool steel. Place of manufacture is Taiwan.
Super good knife
