@@BsMusicShopMI I think it has something to do with the family estate, they are weirdly protective of Randy's image and overall stuff....that's why we have never had things like a pop vynal figure of him☹️I pray to the metal gods we do get this pedal, even if it's shit, I'll still buy it🤣just to have it on display 😂 he was so inspiring.

It’s real! I talked to someone at Dunlop who said they would be happy to keep me tightly informed since this vid blew up so much. I should have an early peek of it on this channel. They said I could get a prerelease. I’ll open it up and we’ll see what it is together.

I asked MXR Tech Support just today about the MXR RR104 Randy Rhoads Distortion + pedal, as I had to send them the description of a video they wanted of my malfunctioning MXR EVH 117 Flanger pedal. I look to hear something from them by tomorrow hopefully. I DEFINITELY want this new Randy Rhoads pedal, for shore! Will buy TWO as soon as they're released, one as a birthday gift for my brother and one for myself! These will sell like CRAZY! And hopefully there 'is' something special about Randy's original M104 Distortion +, besides the fact that it was 'his' pedal. There's no denying how he used it to push his amps to screaming levels of gain and overdrive that were the perfect tonal base for his hypersonic style and sound. A LEGENDARY Tone and Style, in Spades!
⭐️ UPDATE, 10 Feb. 2024: Got my MXR EVH 117 Flanger shipped last Friday, 8 Feb. 2024. MXR Tech said in email that the 'speed' pot sounded like the problem. He also said that 'they' there in Tech/Repairs aren't regularly updated with the release dates of new pieces of gear, so he couldn't verify the 'Mid-April 2024' release date of the MXR RR 104 "Randy Rhoads Distortion +" pedal, but said he was looking forward to getting one himself, as Randy had influenced him as a player also. He said it was good to see that Randy's music was still influential after all these years as well. I agreed!

It’s real. Cathy mentioned it was in development months ago. She then posted the photos and an interview with the developer last week. It will have a unique voicing, but I imagine it may be a handwired “script” reissue with probably some gimmicky thing added to make it “special” like true vintage diodes or something. Months ago when she laid out this plan, the artwork wasn’t settled, but I prayed not polka dot,
but I’ll still buy one.
I feel you are true. So many things are in production that never come out. I suspect this will happen.
When I see it come down the pipeline in the dealer info, then we’ll really know it’s more than just a mockup!
If real than yea ill be buying one, I love the MXR EVH over drive and the Chorus, so this would be a nice one to add to the collection.

..I believe The Crew at Dunlop and Jim Took Apart and Analyzed Randys Pedal Board along with The Mxr's He Used and what they are Putting out is this Version of his Tone In the Form of A Distortion Pedal

Sick. I would hope they did this also building in the eq mid hump. I'd take an mxr designed RR pedalboard all in one unit though. That would be badass

It is real, I think there's a video out there somewhere on RUclips showing Randy sister talking about this and how Jim Dunlop went to the family and they went through the pedal board that he used

I was going to buy an mxr distortion pedal anyway but I don't mind the polka dots

It was supposed to be released at 2024 namm but was delayed. The pedal is based on Randy's actual pedal. Jimi donlop examined Randy's actual pedal over a year ago

im still keeping an eye out for this. im interested in what makes it different other than the awesome paint job. If they have to 'dial it just right' and spend all this time on it, there has to be something more under the hood! xD
I could see it as being, circuit-wise, just like a Script era Distortion +
I feel that 'IF' that is all it is (Script circuit/layout) and that the paint job (polka dots) is the only 'special' thing about it that would be a bit of a let down. It might have a little dip switch on it like Ed's Phase 90 (his 'presets' a sound) that engages a custom eq cut/boost of some sort to possibly mimic the major midrange boost that Randy got using the MXR 10 band eq.
I hope I get one of the first ones!
When I first caught wind of this however many months ago, the first thing I did was send the article I found to my Ma. 😂 She knows better than anyone how much of a Randy fan I am.

I still have mine from the early 80s. Sure Buddy Guy is also known for his polka dot strat but Randy was known for polka dots as well in his clothing as well as his Custom made and designed Flying V

Depends on the build, if they recreate a original script logo distortion plus. I'll buy it. if they try to make new electronics sound like old ones I will not buy it. 😊
