Congrats on your residency and yes I know the nervousness despite being an EU citizen at the time (UK) but they do interrogate you, and hey being next to Denmark is a bonus. Don't let the dark hours get you down, keep busy, it's just a fact of life here, sometimes 6 hours of sun is just how it is. I'll tell you a hidden secret about Denmark, Kastrup, the airport stop has a fantastic beach. You can see the bridge and Sweden from it, lots of places to swim, food. If you have a craving of something from the US try A Taste of Britain in Gamla Stan, they have US candies and some other produce. Say hello to the lovely ladies for me. Video idea, Try the Disgusting Food Museum.
Malmö is south, she might not have snow there in the winter. I live in DK same longitude as Malmö and snow here is not certain. Often only a couple of days. The dark period, you have to embrace it, don't fight it. Learn to relax and prepare for summer, and eat a lot of green stuff with D vitamin.
I handle the winters by basically planning all those things that are easier to do when it's dark outside, like watching movies etc. I always tell myself that I should be more actively chase the northern lights, because they can supposedly be quite a show when they're on. Unfortunately I'm often too comfortable for that.
@@rasmuswi Evenings start a little earlier, I also watch a lot of TV and stuff, I think it’s quite cozy ☺️. I don’t mind it much, I still do things I do all year around like riding my horse and walking the dogs, but naturally more indoor stuff. I think it stays a little too long though 😂, it would be nice if we could cut winter by one or two months and replace it with summer but since that aint happening, you might as well embrace it.
Reindeer cheese is my favourite! You should try it! It is naturally organic, climate compensated, and farmed where you cannot grow crops, and absolutely one of the best proteins you could eat.
You can make kladdkaka in the comfort of your own home real easy. It's like the first thing kids learn when there's no regular candy around. Just whip up some kladdkaka. There were times where I made it every day.
I just love Malmö! Just 5 minutes by train from where I live. (Arlöv) Best places for a fika is Farm2table, Lotta love and Flax. It's very interesting to hear Americans talk about Sweden. All the differences. Both good and bad.
Kladkaka is like your mud cake, or like a huge brownie that has a soft middle. The soft cheeses are great, Shimp sells best but we have tons and yes Reindeer cheese is a thing and you can buy meat in some supermarkets, it is expensive but yummy. Swedish picnic, Cold drink, a soft roll from a bakery and some soft cheese and a salad. mums as we say
That big round crispbread is that way because back in the days, people used to make them at home, in large batches, They were then hung up on rods close to the ceiling, and that's what that hole in the middle is for. And Lagos, Nigeria has about 15.5 million people, making it almost twice the size of NYC. It's also the financial capital of Nigeria. It actually resembles NYC quite a bit in that much of it is built on an island with a number of bridges connecting to it (did I mention I really do like Lagos). It's not the capitol though - that award goes to Abuja, a city built near the geographical centre of the country in order to not favour any particular group of people too much. The name Lagos was established by the Portuguese seafarers who first came there from Europe. Their home town was Lagos in Portugal, and when they couldn't make out from the locals what they called what was then a fishing village, they simply gave it the name Lagos, and nobody has bothered to change it.
Had once a peanut, curry, chicken pizza it was just awesome... maybe I have to introduce that to my local pizzerias 🙂 Do not like banana on the pizza (or pineapple) that much (like them on their own though)... taste is different I guess....
Is it smoked reindeer meat as we have here in Finland? I usualy buy boxes of fresh cheese like Creme Bonjour (or some other brand) and those have always smoked reindeer in it. I don´t usualy buy tubed stuf unless it´s mustard, aioli or Kalles kaviar.
Kim making fun of Wisconsin??? It's all good haha. If someone from a Scandinavian country came to visit Wisconsin, they would probably be shocked. It has a lot of similarities since it's a state where a lot of immigrants have come from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, and Germany. The people are very friendly/laid back, very outgoing, and love being outside in nature whether that means going for a walk through a forest, or out on a lake/river fishing or just floating around. It is kind of weird as far as the weather goes as it can get as hot as Florida or Texas gets on occasion, but it also gets as cold if not colder than it can get in northern Sweden. We have gotten around 100 Fahrenheit (37C) or higher with an average summer temperature around 85 Fahrenheit or 29C, and as cold as -40 Fahrenheit (-40C) with an average cold temperature around 20 Fahrenheit or -7 Celsius. It has a bit of a European feel to it, while also having the whole American vibe going as well.
Just some facts about the tubed cheeses. One of the benefits is in fact how long it stays good. I'm no expert, so I don't know why, but I know that the tubed ones (same product) stays good waaay longer than the ones in cans (after being opened). Kim might be able to compare like mayo from the same brand? And you'll see.
Dar a week ago they shut down a part of the rail system because we got to 38% heat, 100F to you. We can bring the heat and by the way that was mid Sweden, Malmö is cooler because it is by the sea.
Reindeer 🙄? I’m learning new stuff about my country 👍🏻. I eat that cheese almost every day but haven’t seen reindeer yet. I’ll look for it and see if I’m brave enough to try have some 😂.
@UC2m2T08xAM_MwzSQLGLA2zw I probably haven’t seen it bc I didn’t look for it, just grabbing the usual ones (though my local Ica often leave out stuff from the total selection). I’ve had renskavsgryta a long time ago and I’m quite sure I liked it, I don’t really remember how it tasted but I would have remembered if I didn’t like it. With age, I’m bad at tasting new things 😂.
I usually buy soft cheese in a box, but the one with reindeer can only be found in a tube, at least where I live. It taste great. Renskavsgryta 😋 I had that every week when i lived in Östersund, now when I live further south, not so often.

Good clip, following you both and I´m a sucker for all the nice things you say about my home country. Just one q: Is it such a hassle to travel to Sweden as an American? Heard you both and other tubers as well talking about how hard and expensive it is? Going the other way was a free online form you filled out from the US embassy´s homepage or maybe it was a few bucks, I cant quite remember. Then the flight. I flew to Orlando Fl and I think the flight was around $400 return ticket. Has it changed much, or is it different for you guys? I mean, it does´nt sound extremely complicated or expensive?
Please, don't always compare the whole United States with single countries in Europe. Compare Europe to the USA and European Countries to US-States! And you'll see both ways they are more than comparable. The argument "The USA is so big, therefore …" is just a lame excuse for anything. (Europe is even bigger than the USA and we have twice as much citizens!)
A lot of European countries are way smaller then US states. In a 150 miles drive you can be in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and then France. I doubt you can hit 5 US states in that distance. And the cultural differences between those countries are not huge, but probably a bit bigger then you'd expect because there is not just a border, but also a language barrier. I'd guess the cultural changes across the US will be a bit more gradual.
@@ArchieArpeggio But if you want to go to Chili or Brazil, that would be serious travel. I've been in 4 different countries on a single day traveling by car, not even trying, just going somewhere. It would be a bit of a challenge, but I think that you can find a route where you can hit 10 countries in a 10 hour drive. You can't do that if you start in the US, probably not even with 10 states. The pizza salad also contains vinegar, brings the tart and sting to it. Then the recipe varies a little from pizza restaurant to pizzeria restaurant.

It’s the same here in the West. I’d LOVE if we had snow but unfortunately, it’s a rare sight. It’s just dark and rainy/windy 😂.

Yes.. Start eating D-vitamin already in October for maximum effect. It is even more important the darker your skin is because of the lack of light.
Malmö! Dar, get your ass here lol. Lovely city, and spend some bloody time in Copenhagen Kim! Go to Tivoli at Christmas it is magic
Dar and Kimberly! What a great vid guys!

Pizza salad is a kind of cole slaw. cabbage, oil, vinegar and spices. A nice acidic side with a heavy (fatty) pizza.
another great episode . love that there is more to this channel than just reaction.. you create your own content too

Reindeer meet is delicious. It´s just so damn expencive that it is more of a luxury to eat it.
It is, I had it much more often when I lived in Norrland. Now when I live further south, it's just too expensive.

Kebab is from the middeleastern and pizza as you know is from Italy. We just mix them together
We do have "funky" pizza too. Like a Banana-Curry-Chicken pizza. It sounds horrible, but.. it's something you need to try before you judge.
