There have been so many things said about Kyrie over the years but strictly from an on court perspective, way too many people disrespected how great he is as a player and how good he and Luka could be as a duo and we're seeing that now.

As a long-time Mavs fan, I derive a lot of satisfaction from how it doesn't matter how many rounds we survive... everyone thinks we're mediocre.
Round 1, it's because "Harden and PG didn't show up when it really matters"
Round 2, it's because "OKC needed this experience. They were just too young to handle the pressure"
Round 3, it's because "Ant isn't being aggressive enough and KAT didn't show up"
"Better team" anyone? Is Dallas ever simply "the Better Team?" LOL!
And I know it's going to be the same when we take on Boston. Everyone is going to say Boston in 6 or less... and when they lose, I don't know why it will be... but it CERTAINLY won't be because Dallas was the "Better Team."

in all honesty.. Luka and Kyrie have comitted to defense and I am not saying either of them are ever going to make a defensive team, but they been playing pretty good defense all year. Then PJ Gaffor and Lively been playing out of their minds.. and they done this without Kleber who is agrubaly the best defender on the team.. Im a huge Mavs fan, obviously. Think the Celtics will win but this has been one of the best playoff runs I have ever seen. The only better one was the 2011 Mavs. Good Luck to the Celtics and lets hope for a great series :)

In my opinion, Kyrie is a champion first, who happens to be on the Mavs' roster, therefore he's 1st, imo. They wanted to try and humble him by trying to make him play a secondary role. A role which he acquiesces to when it's necessary for strategy purposes. But he's saved a team the Luka couldn't lead even when given cart blanche. So put some respect on my guy. He's one of the most deadliest guards there is, and the most skilled, he's "the closer" and everyone knows that. They just gotta keep light on Luka for media purposes. Even playing as a 2, you can see his range of play. He's probably the best player in the game as far as that goes. Luka is DAMN good, but without Irving this team would've been out by now. No question.

Gil said something that suprisingly made sense. He said champions understand that not every series is your series. And this was in response to Kyrie taking a back seat offensively in the Thunder series. When players begin to understand this, they will do what needs to be done to win, not what they want to do. Kyrie understood involving everyone else was more important than calling his number. But you see against Minnesota, he is aggressive again offensively because truth be told, he has a mismatch every single time. Luka has a mismatch every single time, and DJJ and PJ Washington are just chilling cause they don't have mismatches. The playoffs is about matchups. And that shows Kyries understanding of the moment.
On the flip side, Minnesota doesn't understand this. KAT has a mismatch all day in the post if he only played in the post which would open up the paint and perimeter for his teammates. But KAT is all about him. Not only KAT, but this is not an ANT Edwards series either. He has no driving lanes (when lively is on the floor), so getting more aggressive and taking more shots will result in more turnovers. But Anderson and Reid, this is their series. As you can see, even the coach doesn't understand this. Playing reid and KAT over Gobert is the adjustment they need to make cause it will free up the spacing on the floor. But KAT needs to be aggressive around the rim, naz reid can space the floor, and that should give edwards more space to drive and put the mavs into rotation. But they are just not ready and they can't put their egos aside.

I know I’m commenting late, but the reason kyrie wasn’t taking shots against okc was because he got doubled and blitzed the entire series and they didn’t even let him go one on one much without them having help at the nail loaded up, so he kinda had no choice but to be a good playmaker and make the right reads in that series in which he did.

When Mavs acquired Kyrie, I'm not happy. Not because I didn't like Kai, but I think he is too much on offensive end because I want Luka to win a ring without another superstar with him. Now they let this happened, with a solid supporting cast. Mavs is unstoppable atm.

Broooo, my Mavs are doing so good! I think this might go to 6 games. I think without Lively and some adjustments the Wolves should make that they will take game 4. More Naz and Slomo, less Rudy. Don’t have Ant guard Luka or Ky….then they have a chance.

I hate to compare Murray to Kyrie, I am a fan of both of them but one of the reason Wolves couldn't do with Mavs what they did with Denver was they couldn't figure out Kyrie the way they did with Jamal. He's the most fluid scorer to have ever played in NBA. The NBA is lucky to have him.
And with Murray give him sometime he'll get there soon enough.

To be fair it was never his ability in question. It just seemed like over the past 5 years his seasons have ended with either an injury or disappointing playoff exit. Then there's the drama and the trade request. In honesty not many were picking the Mavs to even make it out the first round. I know I was shocked. I love this for Chief Hela. The media tried to destroy his character and make him out to be a lunatic but he's a lot more wise than he's given credit for. Mavs complete the sweep and beat Boston in 6
