Technically, “Fire Drill” and “Copy Cat” were meant for “After School”. They just didn’t make it on the album, hence why they’re standalone singles.
Fun Fact: Field Trip and Glued replaced them
But she should've kept them 😭

i dont know why so many people prefer her other albums? imo i really like how personal afterschool ep was to melanie and how she played with the new styles is really refreshing,, i thoroughly enjoyed this album!!

This EP is different bcs it's more personal for her and the EP itself is not talking about the character "crybaby " ( which she used on her previous album crybaby and k 12 ) but it's about herself
About The Bakery there is not such a big hidden message : she’s singing about the fact she got fired from the bakery she used to work after 4 days ☺️
She dropped a bunch of cannolis, which was what got her fired.

But she also is singing about the overworking
idk why tf people say that she get FIRED??? she never said that. she said that she had to force herself to work in a bakery cause she needed money so she can start her music career. she says how her boss thought she would spend her whole life at that work but Melanie just wanted to leave all that; then she quit work

One thing I love is how much more personal and emotional Melanie gets, it really pushes her music foward, especially how deep she was in k-12, this ep really connects on a emotional depth, I especially enjoy numbers cuz it’s very personal to me and the lyrics hit a spot in me that is way to familiar

"Katarina in the womb for nine months, 'til she birthed me" this is Melanie's mother was thinking about putting the name of Katarina's daughter (Melanie) (Greek meaning = light, shine) then decided to put Melanie (Greek meaning = darkness, gloomy) so the lyrics of the song

The spinning sound is actually a lightblub being screwed in and at the end the light blub shatters at the end.

Just so everyone knows, After School is an extension of K-12, and Copy Cat and Fire Drill were meant to be on (which makes a lot of sense esecially for Fire Drill since it ends the movie) but but she kept them just as singles

AHHH YES i love this EP. also this EP is completely personal to Melanie. Cry Baby and K-12 were about the darker sides of life, K-12 did discuss some elements of Melanie’s life but the EP wasn’t a concept album like Cry Baby and K-12. melanie said that after every new album she’s going to release an EP that’s tied to the album but not the storyline (instead of putting out a deluxe like she did with Cry Baby). she also said she’s spending all of 2021 working on her next album which she’s already gotten pretty far with so I’d expect her next album early 2022 (she said it definitely won’t be out next year)

my favorite all-time song from mel is fire drill because it is soooo honest, and it talks about how rude and hypocrite society is. and because there is an alternate K-12 ending in which she burns the school with this song, and it is placed in an era between k-12 and after school
