Marla roadhouse is actually the last stop in SA, fuels a bit cheaper there also, cracking green grass camping for the van! Love that part of the desert ❤
The kids will never forget this adventure. It will stay with them well and truely into their old age. Great to see your family enjoying themselves so much. I only wish that I had these kind of experiences when I was growing up. Still, it is so nice to see through through the eyes of others.
Stopped in Coober Pedy on our first 2 month tour of Oz from the Uk in2012. It has improved for tourists a lot since then. Stayed 3 nights but had to leave as flies were driving us nuts! That was in March!2012. We visited Breakaways in our hired M/Home and covered it in dust outside and in!! We were on our way down to Adelaide. On our way to Alice, had to drive thru real flooding. Girl in Alice was pleased to see so much rain and river was flowing real deep. Keep it up, love the vids.
That hotel is so darn cool. The kids will NEVER forget staying there. Now that they got their own big beds, I am afraid time is ticking on your travel adventures. BUT, there is always solo once the kids fly the nest...Thanks for sharing. Well worth the price and YES, I do have the idea about sitting on the couch! Cheers
So common, as a family of 5 also we have gone through 2 in 4 years (such a flimsy design) and it always seems to happen remote. We carry a spare now.. more weight added 🤪
Bringing back great memories. Stayed at Cadney, brilliant sunset, epic sunrise, trucker tucker was superb. Broke same handle, drilled & put pull cable tie, $28 east coast.
I loved Coober Pedy, been there twice. If you noodle the stacks at night with an ultra violet light you can find them much easier, we found heaps, mostly worthless but still good tokens for the journey...The general store has the little uv lights for a couple bucks, but be warned there's a big guy who will try and lend you one for around $80 and he says he will give the money back when you return the light , then runs of with the money, he tried it on us but we conned on to him.
Great episode again TIAV!!! I Love watching you all. So good to see the kids having a great time. I remember well all the travels I got to do with my family and Father as we were growing up! Such good memories. Your children will really appreciate this when they are older and will love you for it no end! Safe travels from Sydney lockdown!
Been there, done that mate. Back in 1988! Stayed at underground backpackers hostel and mined for opal. Will always remember this p/u truck with boxes of dynamite in the back, parked at a bar, haha.
Dinky Di Love the Dugout and loved hearing the reality that you just wanted to sit on couch and watch TV.. This is something I take for granted everyday, but at the same time envy what you guys are doing. The saying is the grass is not always greened on the other side of the fence
Hey family, we have just started following you guys, Binge watching hahaha' just wanted to say EXCELLENT. Keep up the good work, hopefully might bump into on the road one time. cheers guys.
My partner and I had a similar experience in Coober. We loved our time there and loved watching yours too. We also stayed in Di's place and loved it. Honestly we would love to go there again and experience the things we didn't have time for.
Never been to Coober Pedy but have been to White Cliffs NSW, which was AMAZING!!! Can't wait to check out Coober Pedy one day!!! The dug outs are unreal!!!! So cool on a super hot day 😍
@@TripInAVan yeh underground living is awesome! We did it in White Cliffs, make sure to add White Cliffs to your next Far West NSW trip and tell them Rings Great Adventure sent you! We made sooooo many friends with the locals when we went! Thats the first tip I can give for White Cliffs, visit the pub first and mingle
i took my family to coober pedy at easter time they had a easter parade down the main street it was so great and we also stayed underground best sleep ever. should be on all travelers bucket list love following you guys
Your kids are having the best lives ever.. they will be better people and have learnt more in their lives due to what you both are teaching them while travelling. I watch 2 tv shows called Aussie Gold Hunters and Outback Opal Hunters on Foxtel and they showed last year the miners in Coober Pedy. The kid's excitement when in Di's Dug Out, checking it out, that's just awesome! I noticed the kids have slinkies, we had them as kids great fun. Coober Pedy is now on my bucket list. Can you not get a generic door handle set from Bunnings or some hardware in a town and fit it? Hey Jason, I just noticed that your solar panel on the roof of the Toyota is covered by more than half of the tinny, (in the aerial drone footage at 26:27) it would probably get more sun if you moved it to across the front of the roof rack instead of down the length of the rack. Stay safe waving from Melb.
Great Vid as always guys, I look forward to them all the time. We were there in Coober Pedy a couple of years ago, brought back cool memories of our trip out there with the kids in our van. Safe travels , Dinki Di Cheers
If you ever settle down and build your own house think about a mud construction. I live in a rammed earth house and in the summer when it is 40 odd degrees outside (in NSW) it is 25 inside without air conditioning. We have lived in it about 9 yers and have used the air con about 10 times only to cool off if the night has not cooled down and even then just put in on for an hour in the morning to cool the place off and then the mud walls take over with their natural properties. The temps are fairly even over the year we do have a wood fire we use in the winter ( we live 2 hours away from the snow so it does get very cold say - 8 at times) but it is very warm and cosy in then as well.
Randomly chewing gum in one of the most random places in OZ, just fitting in really 👍🏻. And the good ol’ open the broken van door with the screw driver trick! Hot tip - buy a spare one for the tool box, $35 well spent 😉
Spectacular video as usual, local knowledge is king when travelling. Love the blame game for the door, although they call it guaranteed return business. So many cool free camps in that part of the world. Flynets are a must, except when the temp gets above 40°c they seem to disappear
loved the episode looked very cool in the underground house.. re the door latch I think you can get a aluminium style one that is a little more sturdy then the plastic one... cant remember who made them tho and also, I changed My dads one out as it broke aswell and you woulldnt believe it there is a left and right hand one... hope you got the right one, cheers for the awesome 30 minutes enjoying My morning coffee..

It really is. Dinky Di part of Oz! We have been there a couple of times now and yet it still surprises with hidden gems in the most unlikely of places. We found fuel was cheaper at the miners co op! Cheers we heard you caught up with our friends at Nulunbuy
Did our door handle couple of years back... Dinkey Di... thankfully we were in Mooloolaba and picked up a newey at a Caravan Shop. Strangely, it was the inside handle that broke. Had to replace the whole mechanism... Dinkey Di... LOL

Coober Pedy what a place! So much more to see and do then I ever realised! I’ll definitely be staying at “Dinky Di” Dugouts. Some space ship junk just fell from the sky and landed here 🤣
@@TripInAVan 🤣🤣🤣 made me laugh, what I was picturing in my head after that was nothing compared to what you showed and I was like, wait what, that can’t be real lol. Then the correction came and made me laugh even more.

The misso and I camped at Agnes Creek on our very first camping trip in 2017 after leaving NT making our way back home. We were in a rooftop tent on our Subaru XV. Love your work, looking forward to the next vid.

Great adventures, thanks for sharing :) We did a family trip to coober pedy few weeks ago, best trip....and loved our stay at di's place too! (Ps. Our 9 year old found a great piece of opal noodling!)
Great Ep Guys, just got back from a weekend in Warrnambool it was a beautiful day Saturday no wind, apparently the whales were good to see but didn't see any as the car park was full lol. Just mate! 100% correct. Marla is a great stop, good fuel, good Indigenous art shop, mechanic, police, ambos/nurse & green grass camp ground with an opal pool!
I’ve lived my whole life in SA and I’ve never been to Coober pedy lol. Thanks for showing us what’s there. Australia is full of surprises
