Fun fact about the Gibraltar airport: Gibraltar is connected to Spain but is owned by the UK. Making air traffic control more complicated. The runway also has a road running directly across it that has to be shut down every time a landing or take off occurs. And the rock of Gibraltar creates ridiculous winds
Hey trev I would like to explain what flaps do flaps are ment to slow the plane down but also increase the surface area of the wings this is important because this means the plane can fly slower without falling out of the sky. We just learned if you need to takeoff fast go flaps full not all up. Also if you are slowing to to much increase throttle that’s why big jetliners are using 70-80 percentage of thrust at the final approaches stage of flight. Like so trever sees.
Hey Trev! Real life pilot here. Try the wing low technique. This is where you kick the rudder the opposite direction of the wind while simultaneously turning the ailerons into the wind. It sounds complicated but it works. Loving the vids!
When pilots land in that condition they use their rudder and do something called crabbing where they fly the plane diagonally in the direction of the wind.
23:32 “YOU ROLLED A LOT, YOU ROLLED WAY TO MUCH, YOU ROLLED LIKE A BAKER, BRO, COME ON” “FRICKEN CINNAMON ROLL ALL OVER THAT RUNWAY, BUT THATS FINE.” 😂
Hi Trev, I noticed when you were landing you were coming in very high. Just something to help you with that would be looking at the lights off to either the left or right of the runway called the PAPI lights. You always want 2 reds and 2 whites if you have 3 or 4 whites your to high is you have 3 or 4 reds you're to low. The best way to remember this is White on White Check your height, red on red means your dead. Just wanted to try to help you improve your landings. Keep up the good content!!
What I appreciate about Trev is the fact that he uses the equipment that companies give him. Like his not like most where he does 1 vid then it goes in storage to collect dust and I appreciate that! so thanks Trev!
Trev when landing in a jet hit f4 and it will put the engines into reverse and help slow u down to a stop on the runway. You say you need to learn but if you would check your comments you would see some of us have been trying to help you out
Oh im not real sure maybe i got the keys mixed up. But i know a couple people i know have been telling me its f4 but maybe they mixed them up as well by mistake
Idk what you have been smokin but checking your comments is something most youtubers do even though all should because when they dont it feels like they are just acting like they are to good to to talk to us but the ones that do if they dont know something then they usually turn to the comments for the answer or something close but checking comments are not the equivalent of using cheat codes especially when it has to do with the controls of the game.
@TmarTn2 Use the visual approach slope indicator (VASI) lights on the runways that have it. Its a set of 4 horizontal lights that indicate the ideal landing slope. 4 white light = your too high; 2 white 2 red = perfect altitude; 4 red lights = your too low
Trevor the 2 sets of lights on the runway that are 4 across tell you if you’re too high or low. Perfect height is when one set shows 2 red and 2 white lights next to each other, too high would be all white and too low is all red lights!
There so many tourist hotspots in NZ but to name a few of the top of my head I'd have to say - Milford Sound, Frantz Lopez the glacier place, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Nelson, White Island, and a bunch more.
On crosswind landings you kinda have to flip your process when landing, the faster the better, given if the runway is long enough, you wanna come in faster than normal than with less flaps, helps the wind not mess with you as much, give your self as long as possible to get aligned with the runway on final approach, use your rudder to align your nose, the wings will want to turn in that direction so you must combat that with yoke in the other direction, you will be tilted, this is normal, this technique is called a side slip or “dropping the wing” On landing you’ll want to keep that correction on the rudder and yoke, biggest mistake with new pilots on crosswind is that they let go of the controls after landing, the wind is still blowing on the ground so keep on correcting until you’re stopped. Hopefully this helps!
I LOOOOOOVE the chalenges!!! They are my favorite part of TmarTn airlines!! Please keep doing them.... I don’t know if it’s the challenges themselves or your reaction to the crashes that I love more.... but please.... more TmarTn airlines... more challenges... more “Trev fails to land a plane”..... I just love this series!!! 😁😁😁😁 You’re the best, Trev!!
As someone whos been to gibraltar. To cross from spain over to gibraltar, you have to cross the runway and its such an amazing place to be and a very strange but cool experience to cross the runway. Its a britain away from home
11:06 I am no pilot but the issue is that you're approaching the checkpoint a bit high and you put the prop to idle very late. You should maintain a steady descent while descending your plane must be already on idle
The train from Seefeld to Innsbruck goes along the side of a mountain overlooking the airport. It is amazing looking down from a train seeing planes coming into land
Trevor - Xwind landings require crabbing which is challenging, full flaps in some scenarios are going to make it more difficult... and keep the plane in ground effect longer. Lookup some videos of commercial landings, some are just wild and scary. You might want to get a TrackIR device which makes looking around in the cockpit much easier - it does require some tuning to get the movement right for you, look it up. Your FLTSIM videos are funny and entertaining - Thanks :) Some suggestions for future flights: - Rio, Grand Canyon, Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula Mtns, Lake Tahoe, San Fran, Mexico City Ruins, Jamaica, Wash DC, Surfers Paradise (Australia), Taj Mahal, Shanghai China, Bahamas Islands, France (Eiffel tower area)
I'd like to see more flyovers in major cities like Montreal, Seattle, Hanover, Sydney. Also, maybe check out the Amazon Rainforest, Grand Canyon, Rock of Gibraltar
I love how you did a ton of landings in Gibraltar and you didn't even notice the airport's main feature, there is a public road that crosses the runway!
Love this series, and this video in particular, was hoping you would try a landing where I live. I can tell you a lot of pilots struggle with this, and you end up having to get a coach from Málaga (Spain) to get home when they give up. A lot of the crosswinds hit you as you get closer to the rock. What also makes it interesting, is the road about halfway down the runway. Obviously they stop the traffic and pedestrians, but it makes it an unusual runway.
Trev only a suggestion but i think it would be pretty cool If you would fly over the Amazon rainforest, Sahara desert,or the Norwegian fjords. Only a few suggestions.
Hey buddy, those big bright lights on the runway are there for a reason! If they are a white line it means you are too high, green meens you are on target and red is too low. Use those light lines to set your altitude right and the landing speed of your A380 is 150 knots, it said so in the loading screen. Gears down 3 notches of flaps and you are good to go!
Trev you can turn auto throttle off to prevent the engines from trying to abort your landing in the auto pilot column in the top middle the button has a green light on it called A\THR turn that off and then you can manually operate the engine and do whatever you want instead of having the plane do what thinks is good
Alright im gonna give you a tip. In the a320 you have a double green light that is under a button. If u press that button on the overhead. Your autothrottle will disengage and your engines wont spool up during approach
You want to fly the cross wind parallel to the run way and have all your turns 90 degrees. So fly parallel, 90 degree turn to base leg, the when you are in line with the runway, make your turn to final. You should be at or below 300 ft on final
I did the first Alaskan one already. As soon as you said "I kinda expect this one to be easy" I was thinking just wait lol. Great videos btw, really enjoying the fs2020 content! Edit, you did a really good job. I'm impressed
You should go to the cockpit and disengage A/T (auto throttle) so they don't fight you when you are manually adjusting the engine power. If your speed falls under a threshold, A/T kicks in.
I'm the no.1 of the Nanwalek landing challenge. God knows what I have experienced. I just sat there and repeated to do this landing over 8 hours and finally I made it.
It is normal in a crosswind condition to land one wheel first. (The one into the wind). But the diffrence may not be to high. And in the fair out, you should line up Your a/c with the centerline, not landing your plane cross to the center. Btw Nice vid as always! :)
At Gibraltar airport there’s a road that goes across the runway where vehicles cross. Also please fly to Barra airport in Scotland. It’s unlike any airport you will ever see in your entire life.
when you land, you need to look at the lights. four white lights means your to high. four red lights means your to low. you want two white and two red lights, that means your at the right altitude for landing.
This is too frustrating for me so I can imagine the determination it takes to do the best landing possible. Gibraltar is one to return to after flying the simulator more. You’ll do it Trevor. 👋🏼🤗👌🏼
not bad at all but flaps down when stalling matey they increase lift stopping your sink but they increase drag so increase power to prevent you from slowing down too much.
Your first landing challenge is at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. And that is just south of Anchorage so yep you’re correct lol Anchorage nearby.
You should try landing a big plane at Midway. I’ve landed at most of the airports in the US and the short runway at Midway is definitely the worst. My best friends dad is a pilot and he said it’s almost as bad as landing on an aircraft carrier
Can't wait for the New Zealand tour. I'd ask you to go over where I live, in Hamilton, but tbh, there ain't nothing here. Hobbiton is nearby I guess...
Whenever you're getting pelted with wind like that you need to perform something called a slip. Basically, you tilt your wing into the wind and apply the opposite rudder. So if the wind direction is coming from the left then you need to put the left aileron down and apply right rudder then steadily correct right before you touch down. Google "slip landing" and watch a few videos on it. Please for the love of aviation just do research.

Hi Trev, I have a tip for you. When you're going to stall or are stalling, you actually want your flaps down, because they increase lift.

Hey Trev! Real life pilot here. Try the wing low technique. This is where you kick the rudder the opposite direction of the wind while simultaneously turning the ailerons into the wind. It sounds complicated but it works. Loving the vids!
The two bars you see on the big runways arw called "aiming point", that's where pilots aim to touch down, and that's why the blu box is always there
When pilots land in that condition they use their rudder and do something called crabbing where they fly the plane diagonally in the direction of the wind.
You might be able to see a few videos of that
Was that a pilot who liked my comment
I'm squirming pushing an imaginary rudder pedal and applying imaginary opposite aileron watching him not crabbing into the wind :D
I love your videos and to land in my hometown in Queenstown is so exciting
Trevor next vid Girlfriend tries flight simulator.

I like that idea
