Personified by an avatar of a woman appearing above the altar, the chatbot then began preaching to the congregation, who had shown-up for an experimental church service that was almost entirely generated by artificial intelligence. AI creates text using 'generative model', i.e. it depends on tons of sermons & bible verses from the past. those texts have already been inspired by the Holy Spirit. AI is just relying/producing 'based' on Spirit-inspired older text.

Preaching the gospel was given to individuals called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to speak and expound salvation through Christ alone. Artificial intelligence is not capable of being empowered by God, but like the tower of babel, AI, is nothing more than a continued effort by man to exclude God and substitute man for God. I caught my p.c. AI giving incorrect answers to biblical questions. It conceded it's mistake and apologized. This could be detremental to new believers as well as those who know the word. Also. AI suggested I double check the answer it gives with other sources such as Bing. When I typed in asking it if had just told me it's name was Bing etc. It conceded again and apologized again for the mistake it made

This is extremely sad. The idea negates the spiritual gifts of the people in the community who genuinely have a worship filled relationship with God. Yes, seminary is important. It helps pastors hone their craft and challenges them by exposing them to other likeminded people who provide lifelong ministry support and relationships that shape you and your congregation for the better. But when Pastors get to the point that they believe a robot can be more authentic in preaching the gospel than a lay member of the congregation it is an indictment on the pastors, Bible study teachers, and church leaders that we have failed to equip our people to be ministers of the gospel. At our church we raise up our youth to commune with the Lord and we teach them to read and understand scripture so that they can teach and preach even when we, the adult pastors, are not there. If you are a pastor, I implore you to mature and multiply the disciples in your flock. There is no such thing as a Big Holy Spirit for the pastors and a Little Holy Spirit for the people. Go make disciples who can preach and teach and heal and love! Make disciples who can do what needs to be done. As long as two or more are gathered in Jesus’ name we need to believe that God is with us. And HE said He will pour out HIS Spirit on the young and the old, the women and the men. It’s time out for the church to be fighting amongst ourselves to the point where we are convinced that AI in the pulpit is better than the person sitting next to you in the pew. Please Church Leaders do not settle for less than God’s best. Equip the people! Trust the Power of God! Live resurrected lives that compel others to say “What must I do to be saved?”

A lot of people are railing against this but I'm not so sure this is such a horrible thing. Clearly they have a packed service from the curiosity, I wonder how many people who haven't been to church in years came out for this- BUT- the AI isn't really "feeling" anything, it's not really a preacher, so I'm not so sure it's a good thing either. I definitely think AI can be used in conjunction with religion, but I am not sure it should be preaching it.
