Don't know if this holds true, but something I have noticed, is how different big bucks run. Some big bucks I have encountered thru the years, when they are on a flat out sprint across an open field for example, they run flat to the ground and almost appear to be galloping like a horse, where as smaller bucks will be leaping and bounding up and down in their run. One of my co-workers won a local big buck contest two different years. He said a big deer will have a long body and appear small in the hips. He also said they will have a mule belly that hangs down. This will be in November during the firearms season before they lose a lot of weight later, post peak of the rut. He said a deer that appears fat and chunky is not a mature deer. A long body with small hips was his go by. Aside from body aging, I think most hunters make a decision to shoot based on the antler size. Most have a limited time to hunt and can't spend the time and effort passing on buck after buck to go after a fully mature animal. One of my friends that has taken some truly great bucks did say, if a hunter is willing to eat their buck tag and only take a mature buck, they will eventually get a chance at taking one. Thanks for all the great info.
How can you accurately age a buck in summer months? You can’t, September into a October is when you can best age a whitetail buck, that you don’t know the age of.
I agree, completely, cant was probably the wrong choice word. Thank you I dont feel totally confident on age of any buck unless I've personally watched them grow. @@GrowingDeerTV

Enjoyed the video as always
Awesome video
well done...! Thank you .
With a 4 inch diameter eye those Missouri deer won’t miss a thing! I think you meant 4 inch in circumference.
the diameter would be 4 inches divided by Pie, 3.1413. 1.3 inches or so diameter.
Yes - I misspoke. Sorry!
Guys do you still have the jaw bones of some the deer y’all have harvested? If so can we get a video of them lined up for comparison?
The best way to age a buck is to just check their ID.
The mature buck without antlers looks like a cow elk lol
I think you mean the eye is 4" in circumference.
Yes! My mistake.
I think u meant a deers eye is 4 inches in circumference. 4 inch diameter eye is huge haha
You are correct! My bad!

Many folks have extended history with bucks via trail cameras and others have a LOT of experience. Let's not say "can't".
