Here is a quick patient masterclass for anyone thinking about veneers. I won't discuss other topics like orthodontics - which is about moving teeth... but understand veneers are considered "Invasive" because they involve removing natural tooth structure in almost all cases. A combination of orthodontics and veneers may be more conservative for your teeth and offer better future options.... vs only veneers as the quickest option. Why? 1. you have teeth in your current arrangement - look shape, colour. 2. You want teeth in a new arrangement - different angles, maybe larger, smaller, or sometimes to disguise internal discolouration that cannot be removed. The impact of going from 1 to 2 will depend on how much, if any, natural tooth must be removed to achieve the look you want in order to place the type of veneer material needed to meet your goals. The more natural tooth that must be removed, the more you should consider the seriousness of the treatment and alternatives. Some "Aesthetic" dentists have no respect for retention of natural tooth in a whole of life regard - they only consider the treatment today and if the tooth will be strong enough after they cut it back. Its nerve dying in 3 yrs or what the replacement veneer/crown will need to be is not their priority. Here are some foundational truths: 1. NO DENTISTRY LASTS FOREVER. All restorative or prosthetic work will have a finite life and when it fails, a replacement must be available. The more you cut teeth away the less there is to work with in future. The shorter the life span of your installed work the more frequently this must occur... it's a cycle. 2. All dentists are not equal - a "cosmetic dentist" is just a dentist and may be poor/average/great. Don't think you need to go to the place with the biggest advertising - find the best clinician. If in doubt for multiple veneers - ask for a referral to a Prosthodontist who is a Specialist in this field. 3. Different countries have different rules and standards. Be *very* careful if you decide to go on a "treatment holiday" to some third world country for cheap treatment. It can be amazing - yet also very likely you will be one of the people I see who need their entire mouth repaired having had their teeth, supporting bone and gums butchered. Don't be 30 yrs old with butchered teeth you need for 70 more years.
Hey everyone. If you think of getting veneers, i just want to tell you that there is always a risk that it can go wrong. My dentist did a mistake and all my 4 front teeth died. I had extrem pain, nobody took me serious in the beginning, and now all 4 teeth are dead and i am in pain since 2 years. So really think about the risk even if it's not common. If you have a nice smile, but nothing you can smile about anymore because you are suffering all day long and pain killers don't work, than it isn't worth it! If you are young and really want to change the look of your teeth, look for non-prep veneers!
I went to the dentist and what a horrible experience. All they care about is your money and nothing else. They don't care to teach you nutrition and oral hygiene. The dentist even compare oral care to automobile care. I know that we should care for our teeth and mouth. Automobile car repair is the biggest scam ever. They recommend services that you dont even need. The Dentist wants to sell me a bridge which can destroy your healthy teeth and i do not want it. That is all she can do is to sell her products. No other solution. All of you out there watch out and take control of your over all health.
It is good to see you are healthy with no medical complications. You also have a nurse job and an another side job, so it must take a toll on your energy. Now, you are robust and vigorous and actually and chew food normally again. That's great.
Quick perspective: for some reason I can always spot someone with veneers - because teeth root is not connected to gums + create shadow around contour + teeth looks connected with no space in between. I think humans tend to focus on perfecting one detail without perfecting what's around (aka facial feature) - now need to make the bottom teeth matching the top!
This video was so thorough and interesting. Congrats on getting the teeth that make you want to smile more! I love how aesthetic procedures are such a personal thing, so we can all approach it with different views. Dr Keller truly listening to YOUR wants and making them real for you is amazing.
I’ve not heard of porcelain veneers lasting 25-30 years. Every dentist around my area said porcelain veneers lasts 15-20 years and that with wearing a night guard to prevent grinding.
as a dentist i really dont recommend veneers for young patients unless you really have big self esteem issues. Ultimately, anything used to replace a tooth will not be as good as natural teeth but if it makes a significant difference in your mental health it could be worth it
not professional advice but that would be a better reason to consider either replacing fillings or more aggressive treatment like veneers. Its more that you don't want to cut into virgin teeth with no issues to place veneers because, like fillings, the sides can start to stain and they can cause sensitivity, etc. Idk what you mean by lost all enamel because veneers bonding strength is only good if you bond to enamel @@CRGB-ec3vu
The final result is incredible. A very pleasant color turned out to be BL-3, in my opinion the most optimal color from light shades. There are at least 5 options for how to make it. I am a dental technician and my main rule is the teeth should be in harmony with the face and not the face with the teeth. You have exactly that. Excellent treatment result.
I am white with green eyes. I got BL3 and although it looks very nice in photos and under direct light, in many situations such as just at home or out in department stores, they have both grey and yellow undertones that disappointed me. I am considering redoing with BL1, and I’m conservative so never thought I’d say that! I’m glad BL3 worked for this lady and her skin tone.
Gummy smile is because of maxilla jaw was longer, which is just how your jaw grows. I have a slightly longer right jaw and my smile is crooked to one side. I have a crooked tooth as well and my both jaws were not aligned due to the jaw. Great to hear that u are happy with your smile but veneers needed to be replaced from what i have seen from other dentists videos. But i most likely wont change myself because my jaw deformation is what makes me special.
Stop glorifying imperfection. Flaws are Flaws. Either you accept them or get them professionally perfected. Mediocrity is unwanted by many humans. Veneers are for vanity, not for soul-searching.
I wish I could put a ❤️ instead of ‘just’ a 👍🏼. You’re terrifically inspirational and such a joy! Thanks for all the dirt on your veneers. I’m doing it!!😁☮️💜
Comments like this are equivalent to your mom saying “you look beautiful”. That kind of positive reinforcement doesn’t help someone who is socially not beautiful or they themself don’t believe it.
Im in the same boat. I have big gum smile , makes me actually hate to take pictures. I was so hesitated to do it cause I heard some ppl talk abt the amount of enamel was damaged. Thanks for sharing the experience!
You have the prettiest uniquely beautiful smile 😃 ever before you got veneers. Don’t let them little insecurities about yourself change your very unique body and your original smile is alway stunning 🤩. Here’s why I say this because when you started posting new videos “I was like why did she change her teeth they were so beautiful before. Now her smile looks fake like everyone else. But I get it. It’s your body and whatever makes you happy 😊 and healthy love your self.
You look beautiful with or without veneers; do what makes you feel confident. Hope to see you and Kev at the next Singapore meetup. Couldn't join you guys this year because I had a full day of class.
I hate my teeth too ! I wish I could afford it , my front teeth are bad since I was 8 :( it literally makes me never smile , people don’t understand but glad you did something for you they’re beautiful!
I am getting a couple of veneers in the very front of my mouth (teeth 7-10). My question is, I am contemplating getting crowns instead of veneers for the sole reason of, I travel extensively and sometimes for years* at a time. I have seen MANY you tube videos stating veneers fall off and it is fairly common. Given I travel, would be a HELL of a nightmare for this to happen. Have you had any problems with your veneers? did they brief you on the possibility of this happening? what are your thoughts on this?
@@willothewispl oh on the bottom and not the top? You must have really nice top teeth. Usually people change the top and ignore the bottom hehe. If I had your teeth before the veneer, I would be very happy. I have a gap in my front teeth due to missing tooth when I was a child( bad dentistry and parenting). The other front tooth shifted so as an adult now I have two big gaps because the other tooth shifted over. 😢
I understand why she got veneers... I do see the gums she was talking about! But I would love to have her old teeth compare to what I have my teeth are extremely bad to were I'm going to have to get them all pulled out !!

Your teeth looked totally fine before, but damn the veneers do I think make you look significantly better. I have fluorosis so my teeth can't be whitened so considering veneers. I was looking at a place in Seattle that was a little cheaper than yours though.
Is it hard to close your mouth after the procedure? It looks like your top lip partly closes like you have something in front of your teeth. Taylor swift has the same issue and I’m wondering if it’s the veneers that causes this
Nope, but talk your doc first. My top ones were able to be corrected with this only as it was so minor, but bottom - still crooked but longer and nicer and was told beforehand that they cant change it only with this and would need to see a different specialist if i was wanting straight teeth
I applaud you for putting yourself out there every day. But the fact that you had an insecurity that you clearly couldn’t see was body dysmorphia, makes it hard to take this video seriously.

Did your dentist discuss what the veneer replacement process is like?
What was the gum lifting procedure? Crown lengthening procedure where they cut the gums and stich them back on?
