imagine what the NPCs in this game are thinking "oh the ashen one has arrived to save the world from the apocalypse!" and they just see him running around like mad all the time 50 minutes later he returns "done lol"
+Holy Shit It's Soap! This is the worst example of using IGT vs RTA, purely to make some number autisitcally go down at the expense of a slower run. A proper example of preferring IGT is in older games where manipulating slowdown leads to horrible meme tactics that appear much slower than purely running through the level despite the lag, as the 'true speed' tactics are slower in RTA.
+UmoLoco It makes it boring to watch? He literally does it less than 8 times over an hour and half, saving him a whopping 20-25 seconds probably. But fuck him for trying to save time while doing a speedrun!
I'm in NG+ and never actually fought soul of cinder. I just summoned two phantoms I literally don't remember the fight. It was over in less than five minutes.
Why do you stop the timer when you quit out? I still consider time running to be honest. You should only do that if it somehow saves time. You can't just arbitrarily decide: This animation's time doesn't count because I hit buttons.
Very nice run, dist2. GZ! I was watching Qttsix streaming yesterday and he figured out a way for the Crystal Sage to spawn soul mass at the opening of the fight. He just waited for the soul mass spawn before attacking, sometimes waiting a few seconds, and that seems to work for him every time.
Insane run. It's a little annoying just how many S&Q's there are, but I completely understand why. Every second counts. I'm trying to learn to speedrun this game, haven't had much practice at all yet (only have 35 hours total playtime) but I've had a 1:40:00ish run. Hopefully when I finally get time to practice I can get around 1 hour, or even sub 60. These strats are definitely good enough for it.
+Jans6ever To add, I'd even say it's a waste of time to S&Q (on doors and such)if you are no where near getting the WR. Considering it takes more of your time to do.
While in the Profane Capital, why cast Spook if you're going to die anyway and quit/reload? Wouldn't it save a few seconds to just dive to your death and quit/reload without casting Spook? Does it delay the death animation or something?
the game thinks you landed from where you quit the game, but the game knows you would die, using spook tricks the game into thinking that you didnt fall far enought to die, whereas you would if you didnt use spook
FaTaLz- Corrupted It's when you press start to open the menu and quit the game to the title screen. It is done by speedrunners to skip the animation. They can do this because since the game isn't progressing it doesn't count towards the total time.
Man, the amounts of quitting you do in DS3 speedruns apparently is appaling. Like, hell, you even quit out to teleport to the entrance of the god damn church with Emma. What the hell
Well I remember the times when quitting out was a crutch only used when absolutely necessary and for doing the Fall Control glitch. But now the timer gets stopped while doing it.
Hey man fan of the speed run series haven't watched you on stream quite yet but I might have to try it out. I was curious if you were able to do an onikiri and ubadachi bleed build speed run for NG+. I want to see if its as effective as I've seen for boss fights and PvP. Fantastic run btw love the sub 54, my runs are still 24 hours lol then again every time I speed run I die like a chump.
i really hate that all the speed runners do the quit game trick all the time in dark souls 3 i know it's save in game time but it's really boring to watch either way congrats on WR Distortion big fan here ^^
you know the clutch moments when you avoid hollows or knights close call etc in tight spot, that's intense and fun im really impressed when speed runners pull it off but now all you need to do is quit game and everything is reset i don't hate on Distortion by all means he should do it because every other speed runner is doing it but im sad that this is the way to speed run it thats all i love Distortion ^^
How was it that you were able to purchase titanite shards after yhorm? I don't recall you picking up the dreamchaser's ashes, you just ran straight through farron.
I'm pretty sure the reason you're dropping frames during load screens is that you're probably playing Dark Souls 3 and encoding video to the same HDD or SSD, so when you're loading you're maxing out the read/write of your SSD/HDD. If that's not the case then probably just insufficient CPU power. If it's triggered by going through loading screens it's probably unrelated to your internet upload.
@ Distortion2 can i ask what is it like to be a speedrunner on a daily basis and how hard is it to remember everything to do with the speedruns of every game u do speedrun
Honestly man i'd have to tell you repetition is key. I'm not a speed runner by any means but after watching and studying Dist's stuff recently it seems clear like practice and repetition till' you commit everything to muscle memory is the biggest part of speed running. After enough practice you'd learn how to deal with time pressure which can lead to those little mistakes you wouldn't otherwise make if you were taking your time and being around/other speed runners could also help as you can study/review/find new Strategies to help each other get better over time. But yeah those seem like the main things there.
the clock stops because all ds3 runs are done on IGT. this is to give a level playing field for consoles and bad pcs since IGT stops during loading screens.
I'm not sure, but I think it's so the game thinks you can survive, but then you don't. I'm assuming that if you just jump you'll resplendent at a bonfire because the game is sure you'll die. Most likely an engine exploit
Hey quick question. I watch a lot of speed runs, and I've noticed that a lot of runners do the thing where they quit and reload the game. Is that just to skip door opening animations with a time pause or what's the reason for that? Fantastic run btw! Best I've seen of DS3 so far!
You skip the animation for doors, also if you are trapped and getting hit by many enemies you can quit out and all the enemies will spawn back to their original location.
+Brandon kenny APWPerkins is right, that would take much longer to do. It's not a glitchless run but that glitch isn't useful in this situation, the only difference in killing Dancer before Vordt would be the extra souls you would get to use early on (not that much of a time save) and that it would take much longer to do even with the Blade Master glitch. Therefore, it's much more optimal to kill Dancer after Aldritch.
Oh right. Sorry. Well they do follow the most efficient path to each and every boss and items. And moreover he has done it over a dozen times so he has it memorized it for sure.
Very impressive run, i don't like that the timer is gametime, but i guess thats the rules. I get that the loading time should not affect your run, but at the same time i dislike that it's possible to spend almost 10 seconds to save 3 seconds.
It's the new timer tracking software the speed runners are using now. As always, it runs externally and tracks the time but it also reads the actual in-game time from the game. Typically, the timer software runs a bit faster than the game because it doesn't know when the in-game timer reactivates but synchronizes the time once the game updates it, and that's what you see at 2:06.
+Wayne Green The timer stops because Dark Souls 3 speedruns go off of In Game Time rather than real time, so when he quits the game it doesnt count as in game time, so the timer stops so he knows exactly what time he's at.
+I Sparkkyyy Anri doesn't use twinkling titanite to upgrade. It's just that the overall damage output of the bleed from BSS is better than ASS high raw damage.
+xKanaris Anri's sword is upgraded with twinklings. And I believe the main reason not to use Anri's sword is that you simply can not efficiently get enough twinklings without going to the archdragon peak, which is an optional area. It's actually quite obvious after I thought it over.
+Elliott Bradshaw depends on the category, it may be too early for now, but the community will define if we count it real time or in-game time, but for real time, it may be bad for runners, cause every PC got different loading time. They might agree on in-game time like for all souls games
Yeah i read the official rules after. In previous titles, load screens was include, but because of load times between different platforms, the rule had been altered.
+Noah Lieb Most likely presses 0 on the numpad after each boss(depending on his settings). That's basically it. The only reason it pauses is because it's a plugin that goes based off of the games internal timer.
+lendial Im preety sure its be posible to get almost 49:59 if you skip all the estus and bone shards and do all bosses no dmg but probably we wont see it before this weapon is nerfed or something like that is patched. The route is still being perfectioned, in ds2 people is still getting better strats today.
+StyleJunk Karkarlake It's been answered already in the comments, but it just means to complete the game as fast as possible, no optional bosses necessary.
I just have one question, why does he pause the timer. Is it something just weird with the video or is he doing that himself. I have been watching speedruns for a long time now and no one ever pauses the timer. So is this a legit speedrun.
+1nFamouSninJa The timer pauses whenever he exits the game as the only time that counts is in-game. If you watch his timer and the one that gives the play time of the character they match.
+Flush Nutch If you watch to the end you'ill see he always checks the ingame time as that is what speedrunners use as there finnaly time....SPlits are just there to help you know how good you're run is going
+Flush Nutch Save/quitting also doesn't count as in-game time, which is why he always quits in the middle of opening large doors. Saves that extra couple of seconds at each door
I don't think you're supposed to pause the timer when you quit out. If it saves time to quit and load then you shouldn't save yourself more time by pausing the timer. I just think it invalidates the run at least by however much time you paused for. There's quit+load in dark souls 1 here and there, but it's not paused because it's very very quick quit+loads since in ds2 and ds3 you have to wait for a bs login time before you even hit continue. But as I skip to the end I see you're going for character-logged time, instead of real-life time. 1 hour 2 minutes 55 seconds is still quicker than a lot of other speedruns i've been seeing however.
+SkyrimEs5 Any% runs mean pretty much beating the game without any other rules (outside of broken glitches that are not "allowed" in a ruleset), but other games for example it's interesting to see 100% run, but for some games it's stupid/ a bad idea.
should you really stop the timer on quit outs? I think I've seen speed runners in dark one count them in, even bitching about how in a way the time loading in far RNG to contend with.
+flaurne timer stops automatically with quit outs and other things that pause the game because the timer goes off in game time, so it'll show the same time at the load game screen. Records for this game are often of in game time, so quitting out became a regular practice in runs. There has been some talk about quitting out seeming cheesy or tedious, but it still holds as a good time saver so it'll be used probably as long as runs for this game exist.
+beebeep yeah but I mean if you got two people playing the same game and one guy finds a more efficient way of getting to something with less quit outs, effectively shortening the time from game start to finish he's punished for not making the in game clock (which is almost always iffy) as pretty as possible. It's more padding the numbers rather than actually going as fast as possible.
+flaurne honestly it seems like an excuse to be lazy. "I don't like how long my method takes so instead of looking for a new way I'll just trim the fat off my time with a technicality" Mind you I'm not saying this about this speed runner in particular. If other people do it you kind of have to as well to keep your time competitive.
+flaurne true, but it's more they've already found an incredibly optimized route (albiet it may not be the fastest possible, many things have yet to be discovered) and need to cut down time further by quitting out. they're still finding ways to run quicker aside from quitting out to get the fastest time possible, but quitting just happens to be part of the equation
***** it's not like a have a problem with runners quitting out. I just have a problem with people using the game timer as an excuse to stop and start the timer because it fudges the method to be better than in game methods.
+timbo slice Really? I haven't tried it yet. The controller has just always been perfect for me. What changed exactly to make keyboard actually playable?
Nicholas NN i forever used the claw grip style like you probably do, i used it for demons and DS1, but on keyboard and mouse you get the space bar for sprint/dodge/jump and mouse attack/aim/block, and with all your keys around wasd or esdf for movement and with shift ctrl alt, there are tons of button options ; no more claw grip style for me. also aiming for bow and arrow headshots , and throwing pyromancy fire balls with mouse aim and other battle mechanics are slightly easier, also there are mice with 3 side buttons and the mouse wheel for quick switching too, buttons everywhere - edits everywhere, bad grammar
Nicholas NN the real downside with keyboard and mouse is reversing tons of finger muscle memory and adapting to the controls, but i feel like your actions per minute can be improved
Londronable I get speed running, but this any% running thing involves a bit of glitching and stuff that I didn't think would be found so easily or quickly
***** What about the extreme shortcut glitches in DS2? Also I'd consider the quitting of the game and returning in this video to be somewhat of a "glitch" since it speeds up the processes more than they would normally function, thus an abnormally quick access speed run.
I think the "quit game" should still count in the run personally.
imagine what the NPCs in this game are thinking
"oh the ashen one has arrived to save the world from the apocalypse!"
and they just see him running around like mad all the time
50 minutes later he returns "done lol"
lol 😂😂
😂😂😂
+Lobster with Mustard and Rice The same comment was wrote for dark souls 1 and for dark souls 2.
Vulpes cool story bro
Lobster with Mustard and Rice
That's exactly what I was thinking while reading your comment.
People in the world are like "oh my god the fire is fading!"
*one hour later*
"Wait the fire is linked again, maybe it's a glitch lol"
+Lee Ragdoll funny and original /s
+Lee Ragdoll time is convoluted in dark souls. So no matter how fast you go, the fire is linked at the same time.
+PrimalForlorn wooooow man !
It used to be that the time it took to quit out would count against you
+UmoLoco Speedsouls only counts in-game time.
Lestat13TheVampire
Not only that, it makes this boring to watch!
+Lestat13TheVampire Also, it resets the enemies, which makes it easier.
+UmoLoco It makes it boring to watch? He literally does it less than 8 times over an hour and half, saving him a whopping 20-25 seconds probably. But fuck him for trying to save time while doing a speedrun!
Bruh I can't even beat the soul of cinder in 55 minuets
+Antonio Garcia just \[T]/
+Antonio Garcia Jesus you must suck, he isn't even hard. He's so predictable it's ridiculous.
M21cat little bit yeah lol
+M21cat lol relax dude. He was clearly joking no need to be so edgy
I'm in NG+ and never actually fought soul of cinder. I just summoned two phantoms
I literally don't remember the fight. It was over in less than five minutes.
Dude, sub 54 minutes? Jesus. You made those bosses look like jokes. Ridiculous. Great run.
Most of them are.
+SuperGenericMan i thought this was the hardest souls game
Penelope Seale It was a breeze for me, and this is my first souls game.
+SuperGenericMan well, if you liked it, you should definitely play dark souls 1
when u said whats up zane at 34:30 i unconcsiously responded and then i was like wait wtf
nice Quit Souls speedrun tho
jk, amazing run bro congratulations!
53:42? That's nothing, it only took me 46 hours to beat...oh, wait!
+GrahfMetal I'm at 72....
25H here :3
+Fifwayte 15 hours for me
Zombie Banana was my first dark souls ever ;(
Don't worry that was my second attempt at the game on Ng+ have another playthrough and you will find it so much easier
Fantastic run, congratulations on both world records!
Why do you stop the timer when you quit out? I still consider time running to be honest. You should only do that if it somehow saves time. You can't just arbitrarily decide: This animation's time doesn't count because I hit buttons.
+VulcanGray Because the time is being recorded by in-game time not by normal time.
So I beat the deacons of the deep before I encountered Kirk. Can I no longer summon him if they are dead?
+Vape Nation Representative Nope.
Unlucky!!!!!
+fat terrier it's all good I'm on NG+++ with every weapon worth a damn XD I like his sword though :)
I played 12 hours, and and I only reached to Iritill...
This was my first souls game. It took me 40 hours to complete it lol
+ALBAN MAZREKU 100 hours into DS1, still haven't finished it once.
Why the dislikes? Was it the quit strat?
Gnarly dude! Mad props, sick run
You're damn good at this game, keep up the radical shit
Insane run. It's a little annoying just how many S&Q's there are, but I completely understand why. Every second counts.

+Jans6ever To add, I'd even say it's a waste of time to S&Q (on doors and such)if you are no where near getting the WR. Considering it takes more of your time to do.
That's true, but I was more talking about the face that the excessive S&Q makes watching the runs a little less enjoyable.
Shane Clough
Yea, maybe it'll be patched in the future.
he made all the bosses look so easy lol
While in the Profane Capital, why cast Spook if you're going to die anyway and quit/reload? Wouldn't it save a few seconds to just dive to your death and quit/reload without casting Spook? Does it delay the death animation or something?
the game thinks you landed from where you quit the game, but the game knows you would die, using spook tricks the game into thinking that you didnt fall far enought to die, whereas you would if you didnt use spook
Why do people say you need high Luck for bleed builds if you can wreck everything with just 10 in it, like Dist does in his speedruns?
With 40 luck, a weapon with bleed and rouge you can get a bleed proc every two-three swings.
I feel like there are more 'quit to start screens' in the first ten minutes than the other two souls games combined.
+cheeksjd This is so annoying I stopped watching, people should go by real time
When you go by real time then load time separates world records and non-world records.
+cheeksjd Yeah I thought that was stupid how it counted...
+anthony15601 I'm aorry but what's a start to quit screen
FaTaLz- Corrupted It's when you press start to open the menu and quit the game to the title screen. It is done by speedrunners to skip the animation. They can do this because since the game isn't progressing it doesn't count towards the total time.
Man, the amounts of quitting you do in DS3 speedruns apparently is appaling.
Like, hell, you even quit out to teleport to the entrance of the god damn church with Emma. What the hell
+Ninaran Apparently you don't watch speedruns very much. Thats how it done.
Well I remember the times when quitting out was a crutch only used when absolutely necessary and for doing the Fall Control glitch. But now the timer gets stopped while doing it.
+Ninaran The timer gets stopped because it counts IGT.

i really hate that all the speed runners do the quit game trick all the time in dark souls 3
i know it's save in game time but it's really boring to watch
either way congrats on WR Distortion big fan here ^^
be greatful its not console.
+Dark2Zone "It's boring to watch" It's faster than him doing it normally so you get more game and less load. Nice logic bro.
adding on what +sp00ky alein said the quit game just makes you miss out on a door opening animation so why is that any more interesting?
you know the clutch moments when you avoid hollows or knights close call etc in tight spot, that's intense and fun im really impressed when speed runners pull it off
but now all you need to do is quit game and everything is reset
i don't hate on Distortion
by all means he should do it because every other speed runner is doing it
but im sad that this is the way to speed run it thats all
i love Distortion ^^
+cowdude101101 it's not only the doors my friend
crystal sage rng... too bad.
Nice run tho ! gj man!
maybe a red tearstone ring run to come ? like good ol' dark souls ;-)
+MrPafleouf lol WR run is really not bad at all
I was gonna like this, but the whole "restart the game because these extra half seconds count" thing ruins it for me.
So you have this WR and the all-bosses-run WR too, wow.
At Farron's Keep, around 12:20, why not use Spook and just drop down?
+Jørgen Oktober Storm Nestande Thyrum because spook does not stop fall damage if it would one shot you at full health.
Ok, thanks.
How was it that you were able to purchase titanite shards after yhorm? I don't recall you picking up the dreamchaser's ashes, you just ran straight through farron.
There's a set of ashes that let you buy them. Dreamchaser ashes lets you buy lrg, chunks, and twinkling.
+SuperBProHD Dragonchaser lets you buy chunks, scales, and twinkling. Unless missing an earlier set of ashes means a later one unlock more.
I'm pretty sure the reason you're dropping frames during load screens is that you're probably playing Dark Souls 3 and encoding video to the same HDD or SSD, so when you're loading you're maxing out the read/write of your SSD/HDD. Awesome run dude!
Damn man you made work of this, some people upload videos on where to get a bone shard this long
How does the timer work? How does it know to stop during load times? Does the runner have to stop and start it every time?
man, this is hardcore gaming.
goddamn it skype
I hate your eyes.
i found that doing a running attack against the dog in crucifixion woods lowers the chances of it following you
How does he jump like that in 15:02 ? i can only do a normal roll, which is slower
+Sparrky93 He's using a weapon with the Weapon Art "Quickstep".
have you always been allowed to save/quit doors?
the clock stops because all ds3 runs are done on IGT. this is to give a level playing field for consoles and bad pcs since IGT stops during loading screens.
I didn't know the dogs literally teleport behind you.
What is happening to your time at around 13:05
Why do you have to use spook when doing a quit out on a death jump skip? I never understood that.
I'm not sure, but I think it's so the game thinks you can survive, but then you don't. I'm assuming that if you just jump you'll resplendent at a bonfire because the game is sure you'll die. Most likely an engine exploit
respawn* What the hell is wrong with autocorrect XD
gives you more frames to quit out and live.
What program is this? I mean for speedruns. Can you tell me pls
Hey quick question. I watch a lot of speed runs, and I've noticed that a lot of runners do the thing where they quit and reload the game. Is that just to skip door opening animations with a time pause or what's the reason for that? Fantastic run btw! Best I've seen of DS3 so far!
You skip the animation for doors, also if you are trapped and getting hit by many enemies you can quit out and all the enemies will spawn back to their original location.
how many times you played the game before the speed run?
can you mention your rig in the description bro?
Quick question - why does the Timer jump back about half a sec each time you quit-out?
It's linked to his in game timer, so I guess the in game timer does the same
It'll probably be to do with the load start of the load screen when you quit
Wouldn't killing the dancer before vordt shorten the run by like 10 minutes ?
how so? it wouldn't decrease the number of bosses and the fight will take so much longer with an unupgraded weapon
+Brandon kenny he said on stream that you realistically need +6 for dancer which you can't do quickly without, at the very least, doing vordt
+Brandon kenny didn't know there was one. I guess it's a glitchless run
+Brandon kenny it takes too long and inconsistent i think
was freaking out at the 40 min mark in the vid when ur skype gets bombed. couldn't see who was writing to me....
@Distortion2 is this the fastest any% speedrun time so far
+Dylan Mcgovern yes it is!
Do you have a List or a Cheat sheet during these runs?
+MovingTarget086 Why would he cheat? Lol.
+Soumyanil Das "cheat sheet" as in notes or a guide to help him remember or plan out his run. Not a cheat engine cheat.
Oh right. Sorry. Well they do follow the most efficient path to each and every boss and items. And moreover he has done it over a dozen times so he has it memorized it for sure.
+Soumyanil Das I'm sure he does now. i was asking because thats how i planed out my speed run from back in bloodborne. It makes comparing strats easy.
Very impressive run, i don't like that the timer is gametime, but i guess thats the rules.
I get that the loading time should not affect your run, but at the same time i dislike that it's possible to spend almost 10 seconds to save 3 seconds.
What's the use of saving and quitting in this speedrun?
+Andrew Kambel Puts the mobs back to their starting spot and skips the door opening animations
+KarahannAe also stops the timer during the animations because it's counted by in game time
I like how this game just came out.
if by "just" you mean a month ago then yes, it just came out
yeah. i wonder how much time they would need to dedicate to speedrun this even if it has only been out for a month.

Can someone briefly explain why barbed is better than Anri? Thx in advance
+Pale Bears leaving a comment because i want to know to
+Pale Bears In a previous run he mentioned that the barbed triggers bleed much faster - fast enough for it to be a damage upgrade on bosses.
Yeah, I did not consider that this is any%, which means he will not be able to buy twinkling.
It's actually quite obvious after I thought it over.
why use spook if your just gonna die anyway? @35:38
+Christian Smith it gives you just a few frames of living when you hit the ground, so you can save and quit and still be where you landed
I am pretty sure he has to include the title sequence into his times if quitting the game is PART of his RUN?
+Elliott Bradshaw depends on the category, it may be too early for now, but the community will define if we count it real time or in-game time, but for real time, it may be bad for runners, cause every PC got different loading time. They might agree on in-game time like for all souls games

how does he work the timer on the right?

Don't pause the timer on quit outs. That's bullshit,.
the program is set to record character time. he doesn't pause the timer.
all ds3 runs are done on IGT to give a fair playing field for consoles and bad pcs
What is the perfect theoretical run time assuming bosses gave perfect rng?
with a changing route and possible exploits and timesaves to be found, kind of impossible to tell tbh
+Karl Marx of course he meant with this route..
+lendial his best segments together are just under 53, in his description he says sub 53 is possible. probably not much more
+Nito Raki did I ask
+lendial Im preety sure its be posible to get almost 49:59 if you skip all the estus and bone shards and do all bosses no dmg but probably we wont see it before this weapon is nerfed or something like that is patched. The route is still being perfectioned, in ds2 people is still getting better strats today.
Yes finally you've started doing Any%.
Watch his streams, he's completed a few any% runs.
+madichelp0 it's funny because he's said he doesn't even care about any% and took the record seemingly with ease
+sdog1234 Yeah he's been doing this for awhile now. I'd expect him to be pretty good.
Darcc Sole Yea, his all bosses runs made him good at any% :p
0:39 "take my blessing!" :-D
What does any% mean in speedrunning
+StyleJunk Karkarlake it means not all bosses, you just get to the end of the game as fast as possible and only kill the necessary bosses.
+StyleJunk Karkarlake It's been answered already in the comments, but it just means to complete the game as fast as possible, no optional bosses necessary.
thanks alot u two :)
+StyleJunk Karkarlake I believe any% also allows for the intentional use of glitches
Nickolas Marchuk Nope, glitches are allowed regardless unless it is in a glitchless category.
Alright thanks for the explanation.
how do you do so much damage with low level?
+Bryce Flury Weapon upgrades are much more important than lvl when it comes to damage. Combine that with bleed and you can get a lot of damage done.
+Grant Goodman so the astora straight sword is whats doing it? i didnt know it could be so good!
+Bryce Flury I think he gave it a raw infusion which gives it a damage boost but removes all scaling. Good for low levels.
+Bryce Flury it is very strong when raw, even stronger than other raw straight sword, that combined with the bleed resin makes it really good for any%
If you're gonna pause the timer every time you save and quit, why not use the in game timer to be 100% accurate?
+Flush Nutch If you watch to the end you'ill see he always checks the ingame time as that is what speedrunners use as there finnaly time....SPlits are just there to help you know how good you're run is going
Okay. I didn't know if he was just going off of his own timer or not.
+Flush Nutch Save/quitting also doesn't count as in-game time, which is why he always quits in the middle of opening large doors. Saves that extra couple of seconds at each door
the timer he uses is tied to his IGT
Did you skipped the dragon path ?
Any%
I think you have the WR right now. I saw one with 52 minutes but he was one shotting enemies so he's using mods.
I think the timer should keep running if you quit out
I don't think you're supposed to pause the timer when you quit out.
1 hour 2 minutes 55 seconds is still quicker than a lot of other speedruns i've been seeing however.
the reason the timer stops is because its directly tied to his IGT. ds3 runs use igt.
anyone got a pastebin?
Dumb question but what does any% mean?
+SkyrimEs5 it doesnt matter how much % of the game has to be done, other run is all bosses
Tom Philip K Ah thank you.
+SkyrimEs5 Any% runs mean pretty much beating the game without any other rules (outside of broken glitches that are not "allowed" in a ruleset), but other games for example it's interesting to see 100% run, but for some games it's stupid/ a bad idea.
bro you can speed up opening doors by spamming (A on controller i think) but it definitely works on pc
ahh ok that makes more sense
53:42 ? Liar. 53:42:99 man. It's fucking 53:43.
We use the in-game time displayed in the load character section of the main menu. At the end of the run you can see it displays as 53:42.
OMG A ONE SECOND DIFFERENCE OOOHH NOOOO
DarkHorizonMoonlight~ OHHHHH MY GOOOOD
wana haer a elder scrolls joek?
*unzips patns* wana c my petty soul gem??
awes8
I'm definitely going to try to beat this time! Beware Distortion! (note: I probably wont lol)
Why does he quit to main menu occasionally?
it saves time when you open doors
+mattbigmatt resets the level also, so if a dragon blows fire you can quit out and come back in to avoid it
What does any% mean in terms of the speedrun
+UnBreakAble you just go for credits
+UnBreakAble To finish the game as fast as possible?
+Кирилл Сердюков afaik reaching the Credits at any version of the game with any Glitches and everything allowed
any% is beating the game as fast as possible, and depending on the category, with or without glitches (glitchless vs glitch%)
Thanks for all the answers! :D
........ 53 mins 42.99sec
............jesus christ LOL amazing play Never watched more than 30 mins of youtube clip, but I watched this whole thing.
I thought someone was messaging me on skype at 40 mins
1:02:28
Get mad kid
Amazing :3
Congrats õ/
I freaked out so much searching my facebook for messages lmao
Damn, you're good.
holy moly spook is awesome.
should you really stop the timer on quit outs?
"I don't like how long my method takes so instead of looking for a new way I'll just trim the fat off my time with a technicality"
Mind you I'm not saying this about this speed runner in particular.
*****
it's not like a have a problem with runners quitting out. I just have a problem with people using the game timer as an excuse to stop and start the timer because it fudges the method to be better than in game methods.
is this WR?
+Hagyun Choi Yes. For now.
and here i am with my 30 hours struggling with fucking Lothric :^)
+Dark Fable also holy shit that pontiff sulyvahn rape was amazing
oh very good ! very good indeed !
nice run, but i cant fathom using a console controller anymore, the new keyboard + mouse layout for dark souls 3 is perfect
Nicholas NN the real downside with keyboard and mouse is reversing tons of finger muscle memory and adapting to the controls, but i feel like your actions per minute can be improved
looks shopped at 40:44
2 bosses are missing my friend ;)
+Darkbringer5000 It's any % xd
yeah my bad its great anyway
Isn't it more like 4 or 5
+Darkbringer5000 it's any % and btw more than 2 bosses are missing filthy casul
Wow, this is already a thing again...
+Sarude Danstorm What would people who enjoy speed running wait for?
Londronable I get speed running, but this any% running thing involves a bit of glitching and stuff that I didn't think would be found so easily or quickly
+Sarude Danstorm Unless i'm mistaken the only glitch he actually uses is one that was in dark souls 1
***** What about the extreme shortcut glitches in DS2? Also I'd consider the quitting of the game and returning in this video to be somewhat of a "glitch" since it speeds up the processes more than they would normally function, thus an abnormally quick access speed run.
you can save time by not grabbing the estus Kappa
+Kaheiyattsu221 That's for sure. He had more than enough!
Nice Dist
the dropped frames. WutFace
Yessss, finally!
crazzyy
