#Skateboarding #Podcast #Interview Clb
Skated the Barnyard when it came out. As Mike said, "I didn't just skate the Barnyard". Once I rode the Barnyard into the ground, I went out and got the Mike V serpent (shaped) deck. The barnyard was a HUGE step for board shapes.
This is the first time I've seen Mike V calm
Honestly lol
Lmaooooo
He’s mellowed out over the past 5 years
he's a lot calmer than I imagined
The glasses are a trick in itself
Got that board for Christmas in ‘91. My favorite board, outside the first Ray Barbee deck, ever.
My first double tail as well. My mom got it for me one day on a trip to santa Cruz from SF and like an idiot I butchered it in my dads work shop, trying to round out the nose, not knowing a few years away it would become my all time favorite type of deck. I even got it with neon yellow see through grip haha! I must find another. Mike V forever, true soul skater!
lol, wow.
This graphic and deck shape started it all. Thank you World Industries!!
I have the 2015 Reissue❤️ That Board is iconic... wanted it since I was 7 years old (96’)
I traded a bunch of mix tapes for this deck in 8th grade, this board changed everything.
So that’s weird, randomly search to see if I can see an image of my old board and there’s a 25 minute RUclips video talking about it. I only ever saw the one I had, East Yorkshire in 1989 wasn’t exactly a Mecca for skateboarding.
the bots are talking to bots now
Never seen him this calm lol very different
Best fuckign show on RUclips
I looked up to Mike V when I started skating.. I have all his H street boards.
after the VISION generic team deck, Vallely's board was the FIRST proper modern board (twin tails). I was there. It ruled. After that it, was nothing else. To Learn Mullins invented it, makes sense.
It’s so funny to me. I had all those big 80s board and could do kickflips and heelflips, but I remember buying a Mullen freestyle board because I wanted to try freestyle and remember telling my buddies I wish my big board had a nose the same as the tail. And they just laughed at me. I quit skating right before this barnyard deck came out. So funny how close I was to what I wanted if I had stuck with it a little longer
Just bought the BarnBolt which is supposed to have the original shape. Received it today. It looks sick as hell. It looks like a shape that I'm going to like. Looking forward to skating it.
I do remember that being the first double kick, and wanted that board badly. The ad for that board was Mike Vallely doing a mute grab over a standing trash can.
I love that he doesn't care about barnyard parodies.
Skating got really hard after this board.
Thanks Mike V, your Barnyard deck fulfill my childhood. My first double tail decks back in days Lol
He makes alot of great points about spreading the word about once a skater, always a skater. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I remember when he was doing Ho-Ho's in the Animal Chin video. It was awesome
I started skating right around when Mike was going pro for Powell. Maybe a bit earlier. I was still skating in 2002, when all we had were basically one shape. so I also saw the shaped board movement coming back. retro shapes. But, they're right, I was only 23-24 in 2002 and I didn't want any other shapes. I was at the prime of my "skating career" . LOL Now, I love a good 9 or 10 with big fat wheels 58- 60mm. Kinda the in between.
Loved the barnyard back in the day.... Wish I had another one 🐷🐥
Have this board today one of the best shapes I’ve ridden... need to resurrect it as a cruiser
I still ride big 80s boards lol on ramps..in bowls..at skatparks lol im old...haha.
old school shapes came back mad heavy, every skates shapes now.
Didn’t Rocco bribe someone to get the boardshape mould from the Vision “Double Vision” or is that some weird rumor?
They bought a load of the blank VISON d/k decks in bulk for super cheap, then tweeked the shape till they settled on rounded nose version and double kick..the rest in history😎
When was the last time Mike ran thru a graveyard?
He doesn’t run through graveyards he doesn’t want to
Mike v is the lead singer for slipknot
No that's Corey Taylor LMAO
He's in Black Flag
I love that Board
Double seven, we was hoping. Really juicy for a bread box. and all the wheels with Gullwing trucks. Baker was light when it was 90's black label, so don't do the plastic but light and versatile. Black Label got into shipping the earthwing longer street model which is quite handsome sweet.
Zero dislikes. We did it, boys.
DAMMIT, WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS
I've never even skated but this podcast and its format have become a rabbit hole. If we could have the videos or photos of tricks discussed aired in real-time that would be my only critique. I probably mess up your algorithm by leaving videos to look them up lol.
Great video
This is one of the few RUclips videos I’ve seen that has 0 dislikes
This skateboard taught me how to 180 ollie and other stuff. Wish I could buy the board again :(
Good call on the highlights. Thanks dudes like always #9clubrideordie
Great skater that seems to have grown into a good man.
I can see how a street skater can see fakie less valued than a vert skater and just not get that switch. Get on the vert ramps a bit and you will find out real quick how important it is
Five hours!!!!... Cas...well Berry.
Wait, the dude has hair ?
I had this board at the time... 🐷🍀
‘Twas killer..!!! ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
People were talkin trash at the time but it : Laid the foundation for all modern boards...
Mike v is rad
Fuck the secondary market. I want a Barnyard deck to ride and to proudly display. I won't buy aftermarket Mike. Please reissue every year!
All that talk and they dont showcase the actual board.. wow
8:45 who is buying the flip though? the true collector right? It gets there eventually man. You are actually punishing them in the long run. Someone who really loves your product has an even harder time getting that older original stuff if your knocking it down from the gate. The more rare and limited the more hype. You are thinking backward my man. Flooding the market is what takes away from the secondhand guy not limiting it. Good example, Supreme
As a kid he was a super awkward nerdy dude, then he got on steroids and startet bullying and beating people up and now he's a straight up boring hipster, down to the glasses, hair, beard and everything.
