In episode 5 of DRIVE, Mike Vallely explores the subject of community support for skateboarding.
He first visits Hot Springs, Arkansas, to talk to a group of young skaters who gained national attention when involved in a police harassment incident on Go Skateboarding Day, June 21st, 2007.
From there, he discusses the subject with John Leizear of Skaters For Public Skateparks. Finally, he visits the Green Skate Lab in Washington, DC. This community-built eco-friendly skatepark models what is possible when skaters and their community work together.
