Classic WoW Lvl 44 Mage solo ZF graveyard - 120k+ exp & 35g+ per hour

- ZF graveyard solo in less than 20 minutes by my lvl 44 mage alt. I started this at lvl 42 and it's easily the fastest possible way to level up in Classic WoW. The clip is unedited to show a full graveyard clear run from start to end, except that it's sped up to 1.25x from the original to not make it too long.
You'll get between 120k-150k exp per hour if you do 20-minute runs (130-160% of a full level), depending on if you want to loot the corpses & graves. Gold is very decent for this low level, as it averages out to 35g per hour just in raw gold loot and vendoring all drops, would possibly be more if you'd sell the loot in auction house.
For your gear, you'll want to focus on having as much intelligence and stamina as possible, and as you can see from my gear, it's nothing special - meaning that you can also start doing this without having any great equipment. Having a mount is a must, and movement speed enchant on boots can also help you in kiting. Having more int will make this easier / faster, as you can use Flamestrikes and Arcane Explosions instead of only Cone of Cold if you have a bigger mana pool.
It's very easy to do once you get the hang of it - note that I'm playing on a constant 300-350 ms ping, so it'll be a lot easier if you have a normal ping around 100ms.

I started trying this at 47, this is difficult, after so many attempts and mistakes I can now do 8 tombs at once consistently, I can't do as many as the OP did in the vid as I simply find that with so many mobs you will sometimes get 2 resists in the same COC and it really stuffed up my positioning of the mobs. Some tips for people starting out that aren't explained in the vid
1. You need to agro the boss (and lose agro via the safe spot) before opening the tombs, if you don't the mobs don't run to boss and will just begin attacking you.
2. Start with just 2 tombs to begin with until you learn how to kite the mobs, it's easy to reset and you won't die the moment you stuff up.
3. When you iceblock the timing on exiting the iceblock is important, you want to do it after you get a heap of immune hits on you.
4. The key to kiting is the backpedaling as you use COC, with 2 seconds cd on COC you should be getting ready to backpedal
5. You should make your 2 highest level mana biscuits before starting, the moment you use enough mana to fully utilize your highest level biscuit use it, this should mean you can use 2 biscuits in the 1 pull if required.
6. Because COC is on a 8 sec CD in theory it means you get full mana regen for 3 seconds (5 second rule), this means ideally if you need to reapply ice barrier do it either directly before or after you cast COC to maximise mana regen.

This 100 times over. I've followed this guide step by step for a whole day, and can't seem to get more than a few kills at a time, if that. Seems like RNG hates me.

@Yo Ballert Hours and many deaths later, can't confirm it's easier. I just get resisted too much. Have to reset every other pull, if my mana holds out through the first half of the encounters (I have about the same amount as the video shows - 4100).

how do you do it when Your Undead? the mobs are too high HP i run out of Mana before they are even 40% health...
@@relog relog first of all, your gear has to be full hp/mana, forget about this spell power pve crap. Has all mana gems and evocation ready, have mana pots too. Don't use spells you can't afford, for example ice barrier, don't use it every 30 seconds. But anyways it's hard on lvl 44, better be closer to 50.
relog yes I bought all the “of the eagle” gear I could find on the AH. It really helped, cheap mana pots too. If you have around the same amount of mana he has in the video you should be okay

Thanks for uploading this. As a word of warning from someone who's also spent a lot of time solo farming ZF: This is WAY easier as a gnome. 2-3 times in this video a race with a larger hit box would have been one shot. I recommend using Frost Nova and shatter in those cases as the leeway mechanic is more punishing.

@@ethanmcroy That's what i thought - but playing UD and Gnome, my UD gets hit way more often doing the same kiting styles. This video is also filmed with 300ms ping so it should have even less margin for error. Even at level 60 with

It is because most players will not be able to do this, it’s very high skill! Most classes are balanced unless you have high skill

Protip: If you quickly turn your character to face a mob as they're hitting you, you won't get dismounted by them. They can only daze you if they land a hit from behind you.
Also, you can practice the cone of cold dance outside ZF with the elite hideskinners. Highly advise getting it down outside the dungeon.

It's way easier than blizzard farming and your safe frost nova for CoC resists. But chances are it will resist CoC then nova are still high if you pull too many. With this tactic you can recover from resists. Every good mage farms this way.
Literally the slowest way to aoe farm ever. Every good mage farms the correct way with improved blizzard and can easily pull 20-30 mobs if done correctly. You have cold snap, ice block for a back up if you happen to gets resist.

@@nesehipsafiaspn2906 farming with blizzard is easier & much faster than this method because you are doing consistent damage. I don't play classic now, but I used to farm BRD pulling 50 mobs at a time so I'm pretty sure I could farm ZF.

That's how you aoe farm efficiently. You can actually do what he doesin the video in 3 pulls once your gear is at a reasonable level & you practice the pulls. Roughly 8 minute runs.

@@Desparato1337 my main problem was I still had rank 1 mana shield on my bar. product of playing retail for so long. I still occasionally get dazed on the last leg, but strafe running has helped in a lot of ways, too.
Dazed is an incredibly over powered npc move that no class in the game (even rogues psn) comes close to. So many lost clothies and warriors RIP

My mage is already 60, so this is just outta curiosity. What if the patting mob is the witch doctor or shadow hunter? Do you just wait for the mob to pat away?

With well timed/placed frost novas (to hold your mobs in safe places) it is easily possible (on the entrance side) - harder to time a frost nova on the far side (due to the pat coming so far in), so I just time my pulls so that the pat is out of the room while I kill my pack.
you can kill every type of pat as a level 42 mage. You just need a little bit of luck with the resist. I leveled my mage since 42 in there..

Looks awesome, can't wait to try it. What would happen if after each pull before you begin to kite them, you went to the reset by the stairs and waited to get out of combat, then go and open the next lot of graves, reset on stairs again and then do then do the last one hoping that you can kite then entire lot at once? Or otherwise do it in 2 goes (1st run 2/3 pulls, 2nd pull 1/3 pull being is that you only have 2 ice blocks available). Thoughts?
If not hitcapped too many mobs increases chance for resists, which already happen often enough. You can see several resists in this, it only takes 1 unlucky coc to cause a corpse run on a pack too large.
Proof that backing up is not useless. Helpful hint for all you aspiring to do this like him, back peddling is crucial to this farm because leeway (the act of the mobs hitting you while you seem to be further away than their hit zone) doesn’t activate when back peddling. That’s how he’s able to get close, coc them and kite them. Great vid dude

The video is slightly sped up, which explains the 3 minute difference in the run timer and the actual video and with this technique we’re looking at 24 minutes per run with the run back out. I loot all tombs and loot all mobs but can hardly get more than 4G in cash per run. Selling the cloth in AH will help, but the plus after the 35G is a stretch. Crazy XP though.

I tried this tonight and I must admid its quite hard in the beginning. I died twice and then reset to learn it with 2 Zombies to get afeeling for the melee range and where to walk in which way to keep em close but not too close. Worked pretty well after that with 5-6 mobs and then 10+ mobs. I recommend doing this before trying to do huge pulls right away :)

Lv 43 here. How do you deal with CoC resists? Mine seem to resist a lot. And if they resist on the first CoC if really mucks it up. Have 3/3 elemental precision.
You have two choices to deal with resists 1. Use frost/ice armour to slow them (the mobs that resisted) and have ice barrier up so you can't get dazed loop them back into pack and CoC continue 2. Wait about two seconds after the resisted CoC (to ensure CoC is back up before nova ends) frost nova all mobs apply CoC right before frost nova ends continue. And then if all else fails reset with LoS spot and try pull again. Deaths are gonna happen doing this as well even in the vid he was 100 hp from being one hit from a poor loop path
My best piece of advice is to have a /sit macro if you are not a gnome, it makes getting to the GY easier.

Okay i tried it but as soon as i try to open the graveyards the zombies dont run away to the boss, they instantly hit me and i die, what do you do to make them flee to the boss and get back to you?

Not worth it, since Spellpower / frost dmg doesn't scale well with our AoE abilties. Having more int to be able to cast 1-2 more CoCs is way better damage wise

You can boost the Gold and xp per hour if you also clear scarabs, frost nova a group of the far scarabs run into hallway back towards grave yard ice block scarabs aggro other scarabs massive pack forms exit ice block > nova > blink > ice barrier > blizzard until dead

@@junshynaza7990 its all about knowing how pathing works, when you understand how the mobs move, a long with the range of your abilities/etc. it becomes hard, however, a lot of mobs in classic seem to have a 10+ yard melee. so you have to be super careful. one slipup costs you 10 mins of running back/resetting
Before and after cone, needs to backpedaling to avoid the leeway. He's a mage artist so far

While in the CoC spam phase of the pull, wouldn't it be beneficial to use rank 1 Frost Nova for Shatter?
My guess is that Frost Nova is utilised as an ''oh shit' button in case multiple targets resist the chill efffect.

I didn't have an optimized build meant solely for ZF farming, just a general aoe build :) It could have been better for sure
question, why not nova + CoC for shatter? does it mess it up because some mobs wont break out of nova?

So I am brand new to mage - I don't have a good feeling for the range of Cone of Cold. I just tried to do this tonight for the first time (I'm 49). I have been doing the pirates, but that is slowing down alot. I heard this is good until like 52. How did you get a good feeling for Cone of Cold range? Just practice?
It is called Leeway-Mechanic. Everytime he does Cone of Cold he is backpaddling (pressing S on his Keyboard - by default). This allows to have a higher Range than the normal Range you have for certain Spells, like Cone of Cold, even Arcane Explosion, and it works with Melee attacks too!

How much mana should one have before attempting this? I'm level 44 with 3.7k mana and I find myself going OOM often.
How is your CoC range so far/big? Is it because you back peddle before doing it? And yes I already have the talent Arctic Reach.
If you move while casting AoE the range is more forgiving, works with nova and arcane explosion too
Every time I get out of IB I get instagibbed... Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Even with blink I die instantly. I have mana shield and ice barrier up
why is it when i make it to these spots they still keep attacking me or they jsut dont go away and i stay in combat really annoying

How do you deal with the witchdoctors that moves around in the graveyard? It just out heal my damage
you don't have to kill the witch doctor. there is a roaming melee mob that you need to kill, but you can easily avoid the witch doctor while kiting, she very rarely comes into the room

Why this over Blizzard AOE farming? Is there any specific reason?
With blizzard you will run out of mana long before you do any significant damage to them. You get alot of mana back while waiting for CoC cooldown.
Thanks for posting the video. Have you had any issues getting immediately one shot after coming out of the first Ice Block? I'm making sure not to IB in mid-air, etc, I just get insta killed.
Hey! That part is really just something you need to learn and get used to, and it's probably one of the hardest aspects of aoe grinding multiple mobs in general. As you can see from the vid, I don't just randomly release ice block, but instead I wait for a big wave of "Immune" hits and then release it. The mobs attack in "waves", so you need to time the release right after most of the mobs have just swung their hits. You'll get it, just takes a bit for practice! :)
You could macro to cancel iceblock and frost nova at same time while holding W, maybe even a blink if you can afford the mana cost or use a mana pot to make up the cost.
What addon shows the duration of the frost nova debuff above the target?

helpful hint: exit the block early before they go full surround on it or the grouping will be awful and CoC might not hit them all. He does so here but I didn't see any mention of why he did it
also question: when your sitting in the two immune spots on the way to the GY, what do you do if the shadowcasters are spamming you with shadowbolt and not dropping combat with u

@@lucasersson548 tried that and sometimes (it a witch doctor totem kept the caster in combat) it wouldn't work. The second safe spot is a lot safer when it comes to the shadow casters, so I found going straight to there to be best :)
i keep repeatedly dying due to frostbite poccing and messing up the grouping, how do you avoid that?
Not having frostbite is the way to avoid that - I really enjoyed Frostbite when I was leveling 1-60 on my mage, but I wasn't trying to AOE grind. If you're trying to do AOE farming (like this or with blizzard in other places), you do not want frostbite. The hardest part about AOE farming is positioning the mobs, and frostbite makes that impossible.

Addons? It's just well timed Cone of Cold kiting while wearing the ice shield that slows mobs that hit you. You're just effectively kiting mobs and waiting for the next CoC cooldown. Everything else should be self explanatory.
How are you dropping agro from hiding behind those stone fragments?

How do you not instantly die when you come out of Ice Block? I get one shot as soon as it breaks, before my nova even goes off.
Have a full barrier. Back pedal and avoid jumping to remove leeway.You can also watch when they have swinged

my biggest issue is that sometimes the tomb itself spawn some lvl 46... (they are orange for a lvl42) and they resist.....a l o t...

I would say do smaller groups to reduce the chance of you not being able to handle the 46

Ok I'm lvl60 and I use this technique. The Blizzard is too inconsistent, mobs get out of nova at different times, it scatters them and makes a mess. This is 100% the best/safest way. I also add some flamestrikes cuz I have the mana. I also only use IB on the second pull as I have more HP. I rarely used a mana gem, only if I mess my pulls and run out of ice shield. It's very important to make sure you cancel melee attack, sometimes you start attack while clicking graves. If you have it on you can be hit from further away. CANCEL ATTACK during your opening ice block.

Pretty sweet, curious why you use the CoC method instead of blizzard? I guess cause it can crit, but do risk getting murked staying that close. Also I notice at the end of the second pull you finish off with the wand cause out of mana, maybe when you get low Nova and then invo and continue :P other than that well played, good to know once I get my mage alt up this is a possibility.
Blizzard will run out your mana before you can kill them - they’re elites.

Yeah i got the same problem on my trollmage. They seemed to hit really far away. Also not all the trolls were undead trolls. There was one berserker kind that hitted further away.

If you have 5/5 Shatter, why not use rank 1 nova for extra crits when its up?
I think the risk of resists isn't worth it when some get out and the rest are stuck, if they resist CoC you can walk around to group them back up
Why not nova when its up and just wait for it to almost expire for shatter crits?
cuts a waste of effort since u wont crit all of them and still need to kill the non critted ones

52 is usaly when people go for BRD i believe.
Personally I did 42-50 in here, 50-52 in Mara and then BRD at 52+

Rallelele I’m new to WoW but I think the mechanic behind melee mob range is due to the direction you’re moving, so you have to backpedal after casting CoC to outside their range. If you sidestep they will hit you. I think this is the mechanic but not 100% sure
@@SemperPravus Well it is something wrong in classic, ive died above the ground by enemies underneath in a cave. the vertical melee range is 100 yard or something. I manage to do some clears but I have to be extremly precise. to hit everyone with CoC and moving is on the fkn inch even with arctic reach
