- This was an amazing FREE thing to do in Ho Chi Minh City. The Geology Museum of Vietnam had 3 floors filled with fossils, gems and minerals. As rockhounds, we found this super exciting because rock hunting in Vietnam has been a challenge and this allowed us to see Vietnam's treasures. Hope you enjoy this adventure.

I'm an international student in the US right now, u guys are my absolute comfort youtube channel to watch. I miss Vietnam so much and honestly can't wait to be back. I'll be in Ho Chi Minh by May 13, if you guys are still in Ho Chi Minh and wanna hang out let me know! I'll show you some local spot I love when I was still in highschool haha
That totally made us both smile to read that. We're gonna miss Vietnam too, but we plan to come back soon. So it's not out of the cards for us to be there in May. We'll let you know if we are.
What a gem of a museum! Free entry too. I’m always amazed at what you find on your adventures.
It felt like winning the lottery finding this place. We've been rock deprived for far too long. Haha. Thanks for joining the adventure. New country coming up!
That museum looks pretty cool! I especially like all kinds of petrified wood. Gosh garnet! I love that!
Gosh garnet! The fossils and pet wood were pretty awesome there. So cool it was free too. Glad we found it and could share. Thanks for watching!
I will visit the museum whenever I come to visit.
Bring a flashlight, but it is a really nice half a day spent. The zoo is right around the corner too.
That was a really awesome museum! I see that they don't think as much about rocks and minerals as we do. That place was empty and from the looks of the cases, they have not cleaned them out in quite a while and the lights not working either. But they had some really beautiful specimens there and I love fossils! And those were some big clams! That dark, silicated pet wood was so beautiful! And I hope that the others areas and types of rocks, minerals and fossils that you encounter, on your way through Asia, isnt as neglected as this wonderful place was! Thanks for the wonderful tour in the blistering heat❣️
The big clams were the best part, but this place could definitely use some love. Can't complain for free though. If we were in that area longer we would have volunteered to clean up and fix some lighting. It would have made a huge difference
The colossal shell was pretty cool. The silicified (petwood) trunks were very nice. Not many agates, but plenty of other interesting minerals. I couldn't tell what all the fossils were either. They even had some pretty fluorite. Thanks for taking us on the tour. The salted coffee there looks like it hits the spot! Take care, you two. 😊
It was a good rock fix for us. At the cost of free we couldn't complain either. That shell was so epic. Next goal is to find one in the wild. That'll be the day! 😃
What a fascinating Museum. All kinds along with fossils which I have always loved. Wow!! A Special day'
The fossils were the best part! Thanks for watching.
31:10 the look like ashe tray thing, i believe, is an ink bowl for calligraphy. people put water in the bowl then grind the block of solid ink to make liquid ink
Oh interesting. We can imagine that. Very cool!
Thanks for taking us virtually with you to this wonderful free Geology Museum. So many great fossils and gems. Too bad that is so hot in the museum Also, great views of some of the neighborhood. Have a great week.
Thank you. It was worth braving the heat to see all the cool stuff. You have a great week as well. Thanks for giving us a watch.
So much rock solid information in this video. I would be petrified to have to share all that with your gneiss followers. I’ll never take your knowledge for granite again. As far as rock nerds go, you two are Rock Stars. You make everything Crystal clear. This was a shale of a good video. Of quartz I can’t wait until your next post.
Gosh garnet, Cliff, that was some top notch rock nerd schist!
@@TheAdventureCloset Rock on, you two. Rock on!
Sorry it was so hot in the museum on the day yous visited it. At the end I seen fans over your heads but they were not running, lol There is so much to see in the museum. Very interesting place filled with what seemed like every fossil, gem, rock and mineral in the world was there. Thanks for taking us along in the brutal heat 🥵hope you enjoyed some cold ice cream after that😊
I'm pretty sure we did get a smoothie after. It was almost unbearable in there, but like the lights, not sure those fans did either. Still worth seeing so many rocks after being deprived for so long. Thanks for watching.
So you guys have taken rock hunting to a whole new level. Fun.
Haha! Yes we have. 😃
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for being here.
This video was so colossal and gneiss!! Is it common for people to nap in eating areas there? Seems like everyone was asleep in that (cafe?)! 😂 Thank you for the minerals museum visit! So interesting!! Do they have mines there? Sorry if that’s a stupid question!! Do you know how long you guys will be in Vietnam? When do you come back to the USA? I’m loving these videos, so it’s not that I’m bored! Just wondering. I’d love to show you an amazing place for all kinds of things when you’re back! Can’t wait for the next video!❤
They do have mines, but the government controls them and do not allow foreigners. It's unfortunate, but glad we found this museum. Funny you asked, we will be leaving the country in our next episode. It's not America though, not sure on our return date yet. We'd love to hear your suggestions when we get back home though.
Morion is a smoky quartz
Ah OK. That sure is what it looked like.
Let me get you a cab 😆
That is so awesome of you. We can get 2 cabs for that. Thank you so much!
Do they not use coins? I never notice change. I thought the Museum looked kind of small too. Liquid dinosaurs! lol Good one Charlie. Cool thing is when you edit or have free time, you can look back over this vid & research some of these stones. I don't know much about rocks but there were some beauties & the little fossils were cool. I have a couple I found long ago. I also have a huge piece of Fools Gold I think it is. Hopefully I'll find someone who wants it. It was an interesting visit.
They used to have coins long ago, but now they just use bills.
Fossils are so fascinating. Do you know what kind of fossil you have?
This awesome I am loving all the different minerals and gems and what not , that shell was HUGE .. and my favorite to say is Dolomite cause I usually say it like JJ Walker but instead of Dy-No-Mite I have to say Do-LO-Mite ... So Peat vs coal , Peat is not yet coal but it is on its way, Peat coal is nearly there it just contains more water than actual coal and has not been under pressure long enough to become full blown coal. Do you guys think that museum would want a trilobite fossil ? I wonder if I could send them one and what the legality would be on that. I don't think it would cost to much to ship over there being so small. Great video as always guys, I have to pick out a good gift for the people of Vietnam now.
I bet they would love that. Shipping can be spendy though, and not guaranteed to make it there. Would be cool to have one of your finds in an international location. Maybe worth a try. Thanks for the explanation on coal too. We're still excited about common stones like quartz and chrysacola, so it's so valuable to have friends that know stuff about stuff. Haha! Do-lo-mite! 🧨
Peat is mud-based
peat coal is more water and less coal, it's the first step in coal formation
Oh ok. That's interesting. So it wasn't a language barrier thing. There definitely is a difference. Thank you for clearing that up.
Beautiful place I’ve been there before… just beware 95% of the stones in the gift shop are glass filled
The gift shop was closed, but not surprised considering what we've seen in the jewelry shops. Thanks!
@@TheAdventureCloset you’re welcome… loved walking that whole area during my stay there… some seriously amazing places to explore
